on this street. >> pretty normal. i used to ride my bike up around here as a kid growing up. no real crime or anything around or anything like that. >> reporter: neighbors who live here are reeling after news their neighbor is uh us coulded of killing two people and then burning and burying their bodies in the backyard. >> when i was told the body were found at a house on this street i said i live on that street, oh my gosh. >> scared, shocked. >> wow i was surprised. >> he is a nice man, a nice family. what happened, i can't believe it. >> he was a family man who took his kids camping. one may bore said when her -- neighbor said when her husband had a stroke he offered to fix the electricky gutter. the leaky gutter. when we left he came back and

it is hard imagine him doing that. >> it can happen anywhere. doesn't matter what kind of neighborhood it is. >> i feel serve for the family. >> molly granthom, wbtv "primetime." >> maureen: he said he took a cab home early saturday morning from a nightclub and the cabdriver and another person came to the door of his home demanding money. he says that's when he got a gun and shot them eight times. we have continuing coverage tonight as authorities try to inned foo the person who attacked a -- try to find the person who atta@ked a pregnant woman. it happened at a bus stop here. the victim said she was waiting for a bus when a man tried twice to grab her purse before pushing her down and kicking her in the face several times. she was taken to presbyterian hospital with severe lacerations. we spoke to her mom and she said her daughter is due to have the baby any do i now. any day now. she is out of the hospital and

and the baby are expected to be okay. if you have any information and maybe you saw something you can help solve the crime call 704-334-1600. >> maureen: a hickory comownt is mourning the death of a mother and her co-worker as they help to raise money for their families. rochelle and kobe -- cody both died after they were shot at this mcdonalds on route 321. family members tell us the suspect is the father of her children. mcdonalds held a fundraiser to help the victims' families. kristen florez has more. >> they are all struggling and trying to deal with the grief. both of them were very well loved and respected and -- in this restaurant. >> employees at the mcdone willed thatses in hickory are having a hard time dealing with the shooting that

the victim is rochelle and cody watts. they were more than co-workers. they were friends and like family members. >> i can remember cody since he started. he has been with me 13 years. he grew up with my son in the restaurant. >> it is difficult, but my main priority is doing everything i can for her family and cody's family. >> reporter: mcdonalds closed the day after the shooting and provided grief counselors. in addition to providing emotional support to employees, the restaurant is providing support to their families. every mcdonalds in caw tau -- catawba, caldwell and burke counties will have donation boxes and will donate $1 from every big mac value order to the families. the highway 321 location raised more than $1,000. >> we were selling big macs like crazy. it makes me smile and it is an unbelievable feeling. >> while co-workers and friends would rather have them in their lives, seeing the

helps with the coping process. >> it makes me proud to live in hickory and our county. >> it warms my heart to see our community coming together to support both of their families. >> christian florez, wbtv on your side. >> maureen: we heard from so many who knew them and loved them. the suspect, 22-year-old eric yot is expected to go before a grand jury and that will happen later this week. >> maureen: con record police are hoping -- concord police are hoping you can help find this man who is a person of interest in two crimes. the first happened in july of last year. police say someone broke into several cars on sunderlind road and college circle and candlestick court. tires were slashed and then last week a man was reported to be going through several vehicles on candlestick court. several items were stolen. if you have any information and if you recognize this person call the number on the screen, 704-920-5000.

now on "primetime" a south carolina army veteran had quite a week reuniting with his children for the first time in 23 years. there were hugs and tears at charlotte douglas international airport when ronald johnson saw his daughter face-to-face again. a few months ago we shared johnson's story. he last saw his daughter and son in the early 90s when his ex-wife took them to germany. he spent decades trying to track them down. in january his daughter kelly reached out on facebook. now they are making up for lost time. >> we have been doing that, let me tell you. >> maureen: he was able to reconnect with his son, ron, junior. he is planning to come for a visit on father's day. good for them. up next on "primetime" he is 80 years old and has spent more than half of his life on

ahead on wbtv and cbs. >> right now on "primetime" deputies are still looking for your help tonight finding this woman who may be in danger. this is 63-year-old vonda lee barringer. they believe she is suffering from some cognitive impairment. she was last seen in mount pleasant. if you see her please call 9-1-1. >> maureen: [inaudible] a squater is back under contract and so the market. it is a bargain for the neighborhood and a reflection of the legal battle over the ownership. the woman at the center of the case was just convicted on charges related to her illegal claim on the property. she says she is part of the

system does not apply to her. sharon smith covered the trial and has more now on the bigger picture. >> she came to court with a stack of papers and a plan to prove the house was hers. that was under the authority granted. the documents were fake, but the court process was real. >> i am following the law. just because they don't know the laws in which i stand they will soon find out. >> instead she found out after a six-month battle over trespassing charges and a six-hour trial. her defense failed. >> it is definitely a burden on a system that is already over burdened. >> court officials receive state training on how to handle paper terrorism where the defendant claims to be a sovereign citizen, a member of the moorish nation. cases come up once a week, often about petty charges and

this person even wrote a letter demanding a fee per day for jury duty. >> they share the same ideology in that they do not recognize state, federal, local government as having any type of authority over them. >> they all have documents with official looking seals, fingerprints and stamps. often they get filed by our register of deeds as part of the process. in 2015, at least 125 documents got that official stamp, but that doesn't mean the documents stand up in court. it is something judge donny hoover pointed out at trial. >> i believe i can prove that. >> reporter: all along she claimed the courts had no authority over her actions. she tried to work within the same system she says she doesn't believe in to try and beat it. in charlotte, sharon smith, wbtv on your side. >> sovereign citizens are known to file false leans on

punish those convicted of sexual offenses against children. representative steve hertz introduced a bill that would have convicted pedophiles 21 and over be surgically castrated. according to the bill it would require offenders accused of sexually assaulting kids under the age of 12 be was straited -- be castrated before being released from prison. >> maureen: she said her teacher insulted her from front of her class and she got video of it. she has an icon decision that causes her to miss school sometimes, and she says she was trying to catch up on a test when the teacher called her dumb . the family is now filing a lawsuit against the school. the school district is not commenting. for more on these stories like our facebook page and click on the links. >> maureen: coming up on wbtv news on "bounce" the soundoff charlotte to be pick is about two virginia firefighters who were suspended for taking a
