on pressing the school for more information. wbtv will continue to follow the story and bring you updates as we get them. >> maureen: we are hearing from the sister of a man killed while trying to help a strappedded driver on i-485. 26-year-old teguin was on his way home when he stopped to help a woman with a flat tire. he parked his car in front of the woman's car and got out and started asking her what was wrong. he was then hit by a van just moments after he pulled over. >> i wasn't surprised because that's how my brother is. he was always doing things for people. >> troopers ruled out alcohol as a cause for the accident, but they are waiting on blood tests to determine if that driver will be charged. police are investigating after a bulletproof vest, badge and name plate were

it happened in east charlotte sometime between saturday and sunday evening we checked. >> we checked with cmpd and are told it did not involve one of their officers. we do not know what department if any they work for and we will follow that. >> maureen: we are hearing from a man who saw a deadly crash on highway 9 in chester county yesterday that killed two people. our news partners spoke to joey estes who says when the chevy van ran into the logging truck, the accident rattled his kitchen table. >> the first time i initially thought it was a tractor-trailer tire blow. it sounded like that and we felt the table shake a little. >> authorities don't know why she crossed the center line hitting the logging truck for now.

that doesn't matter. he will be remembered as a stand up guy. >> maureen: this florida dad is viral tonight for making a split-second decision that ultimately saved his son from a baseball bat. it happened at saturday's spring training game between the pittsburgh pirates and the atlanta braves. the player lost his grip on the bat and it went flying into the stands and coming less than an inch from hitting that little boy, landon, in the face. now we are hearing from the hero dad. molly granthom has the story new on "primetime." >> 8-year-old landon is a ball of energy. he loves playing ball with his dad. >> perfect. >> the two like playing catch, but it is always the ball they throw back and forth. on saturday it was the bat his dad had to catch. >> realizing it was coming for

news >> maureen: now on "primetime" today's most notable video. a reporter in california was covering this train derailment today when a very scary scene unfolded. i want to warn you that the video is disturbing. alex savage, you can see him here doing a live report when out of no where a car comes barreling toward him. his photographer yells for him to get out of the way and thank god he did of the neither one were injured. incredible it was caught on tape. a traffic stop in illinois was caught on camera. watch this. that's a tree embedded in the car. a 15-foot tree at that. the police department posted this video on facebook. after stoping the driver they noticed the air bag deployed.

from two other angles. the driver was charged with drinking and driving. can you imagine? the mystery machine goes on a high speed chase in california. this time it is on the wrong side of the law. it wasn't scooby, shaggy or fred though. she eventually abandoned the mystery machine and van -- vanished like one of the cartoon series. coming up on "primetime." >> mothers talk to your sons about these pedophile women. they are out there. >> maureen: this mom is disgusted by the sentence handed down to a teacher who admitted to having sex with her son. she speaks to us after this.

mississippi valley all day on wednesday. your hour by hour forecast with fair skies, we'll take you through the 60s and surging into the mid70s by late tomorrow afternoon. let's try thursday. where is the rain heading now? it is beginning to shift off to the east a little bit. you will see the best axis of rain hanging around nashville, tennessee. another dry day around here and it may not make you happen if you are suffering from pollen. like to see a little of that get washed out of air, but that won't happen until thursday or friday. a few showers could show up saturday and sunday could be the more active day. keep showers in the picture through monday. fts how consistant the temperatures are. even with the clouds and rain coming in, we are still going to stay in the 70s for at least the next seven days. that's the way it is right now and here is maureen.

pie. these two kittens are doing just fine after they were rescued from a house fire. the firefighters who saved them are humble and don't want to be on tv, but it didn't stop kristen hampton from getting the good news. >> these felines have the piercing cries to thank for their lives and these firefighters who heard them. >> we heard a noise in the crawlspace that sounded like a meow and they didn't own cats. >> firefighters just put out a trash fire that spread to the crawlspace of a nearby house. >> we went into the crawlspace. >> reporter: they carefully pulled back layers of water-logged insulation and found where the tiny cries were coming from. barely a week old and eyes still closed, these babies were trapped, but okay.
