to 40 shelby, gastonia, charlotte, cloud cover thicker, winds up more, not quite so cold, again the sun doesn't come up now until 7:30, we have a lot of time where we can fall off. temperatures tonight or today getting back up to 58 degrees this afternoon, below average but improvement over yesterday. we should see a lot of sunshine today. keep in mind, much colder tonight in the charlotte area, we have freeze watches and frost advisories in effect. i'll break that down in the seven day planner in a couple minutes. back over to you. >> john: thanks, al. we're working to learn more about two driverses who were killed in a head-on crash on i-485 in south charlotte. troopers say the crash happened at 2:00 yesterday morning. one of the drivers going the wrong way on the highway. wbtv's christian flores spoke to neighbors who say they are surprised crashes like this don't happen more often in the area.

funeral of darryl hunt, the man who spent 20 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. at long time friend of hunt says they found the note from him saying he loved his community and describing himself as drum major for justice. the friend found the farewell note at his home. his body found march 13th by police in a vehicle in a parking lot. they said he died from several-inflicted gunshot wound. friends say he was suffering from cancer. firefighters across the carolinas are sending out their condolences for firefighter in south carolina hock died after being hit by a fire engine on the job. conway fire and horry crews responded to a big house fire yesterday. firefighter christopher ray died at the scene. he worked for the city six years. he leaves behind a wife and two daughters. the state highway patrol is investigating the accident. looking ahead an officer who was shot in the line of duty and three officerses who saved him
