weakened just a touch. it is a category 3 hurricane. latest track for the hurricane center takes that turn and it accelerates overnight tonight. by monday it is passed off to the north there. still close enough where we want to stay vigilant. certainly all the trends have been further off to the east. i mentioned that difference between the storm and high pressure. a big area of it that is over southern parts of canada. from new england all the way into the southeast, you will sew a lot of picture -- see a lot of pictures of a lot of beach erosion. a wet night cold temperatures. there is a silver lining by the time we get towards sunday. we will talk about that coming up a little later in this news cast. well up and down east coast hurricanes force.

already handing out sandbags to people who live in low lying areas. t has been raining there for -- it has been raining there for days. a woman driving over the bridge was swept away in her car. emergency crews were able to rescue her. the 900 people who live there on that island full time can stay but only at their own risk. >> no evacuation necessary on our coast. home owners are taking steps to prepare for the storms impact. beth, conditions there already a bit rough. >> they have been rough all week. there is concern that the hurricane next week could still kick up some wind and waves next week. that is what these south shore towns have been facing this week with a coastal storm that has been fuelled by these northeast winds. we are a few showers past high tide here.

the oldest victim was the professor who was killed there who was 67. as for the gunman, cbs news has learn head hassed -- learned he left behind a long note. he once tried to join the army but flunk out of basic training. in the last couple of years he built up a collection of weapons. >> so far we have recovering 13 weapons. out of those 13 weapons we currently have in custody, sick were recovered at the school. -- six were recovered at the school. seven were recovered at the shooters residence. >> authorities say he bought all those weapons legally. >> we become numb to this. it cannot be this easy for him to get his or her hands on a gun. >> we have rarely seen president obama as angry as he was last night. will that ager and the news out

while five states did enact tougher gun control states in the next years, ten states weakened their laws. does anyone think giving up is an option? this is just one of those issues where there is no agreement on what to do about it. >> well hillary clinton tweeted yesterday, we have to do something about gun control. could this be an issue in the presidential race? >> every time you look at a survey, polls show what issues people think are important, gun control is way down the list. that is has -- has been true for many years. will incidents like this serve to move it up the list? i hate to be a scent tick but you look at the track record, i think you won't be hearing that much about this come the presidential debates next year.

system will roll over the top of it and boot it out to sea. there is a lot of little things happening. that is why this has been a low confidence forecast. we have some rain moving in. outside. feels more like november and the wind continues to employee out -- blow out of the north and east. they is canceled some ferries because of rough seas. wind advisories continue through 11:00 tomorrow morning. some gusts between 40-50 miles per hour expected. in terms of rain, it will be on and off throughout the night tonight. tomorrow morning still some showers as we head through the day they will taper off. some hope for sunday, looks like a drier punch of air will move down to the north.
