people that did notation precaution. -- not take precautions. they were warned to secure their vessels before the hurricane hit. >> winds also brought down a large tree and power line on warren street. the area is closed for awhile as crews removed the trees. we had some wicked wind yesterday. >> i know. it's creepy out there this morning. i was telling pamela in the green room when we were getting ready, it was like halloween this morning or something. it felt like a little october, early november. >> yeah. in the strong winds we had yesterday, not beginning to be as bad today. we have the center of high pressure to the north. that's what created the strong yesterday. that center of high pressure going to break down a little bit and move away from us. that means the wind eventually subsides. it's going to take alittle while. we still have some peak wind

new details about a cargoship missing in hurricane joaquin. there's still no sign of the ship. we're learning more about some of the 33 people on board. as jim smith explains, four members of the crew are from maine. >> our search took us within 50 miles from the eye of the storm. >> reporter: a crew flew desperately missing looking for the missing ship. they have now seen a life ring but there's no sign of the vessel. >> at 1000 feet the winds were in excess of 100 knots. this was the most challenging weather conditions nip in our crew had flown in. >> reporter: according to multiple all rights four of them are from maine. including the captain. the coast guard says that captain encountered ferocious conditions. sending a distress signal saying the ship had taken on

are treacherous as well. a new clue this morning in a violent carjacking case. boston police have released surveillance pictures of a person wanted in connection with the crime. a 26-year-old nurse had finished her night shift when a man forced his way into the car. she did manage to get away but so did the suspect. police found her car a short time later it had been set on fire. if you recognize the man in the photos, police want to hear from you. the names of two airman who died in a plan crash in affect have been released. 29-year-old nathan sratan and casey luiz. died when the plan crashed shortly after take off. grief counseling is being base. the military investigating

the bombing of a hospital in afghanistan run by the group of doctors without borders. at least 19 people killed. 3 were members of the doctors without border staff. the commander in afghanistan says the u.s. air force was doing air strikes in the area. and police are now saying the gunman took his own life. as chris martinez explains, investigators looking into the motive now analyzing a note the shooter told one of the students to deliver to police. >> the medical examiner has determined the cause of death of the shooter to be suicide. >> reporter: authorities now say chris harper mercer died by his own and shooting and killing himself, after exchanging gunfire with police. a mud rewe -- newly released time line showed the shooter was down ten minutes after the

first call to 911. authorities say the give upman kill -- gunman killed nine people with -- nine people. kahne was one of the surviving injured. >> he was asking people what their religious was and he would send it them up and if they were christian he said something like you'll be with god soon. that's what i have been told. >> reporter: the shooter reportedly left a document with one student to hand to police. a source describes it as a rant of someone who was mad at the world. he wrote about feeling like a loser without a girlfriend. his hatred for black men and going now the a blaze of gory. cbs news, roseburg, oregon.

said he had no idea his son had guns. he believes gun laws should definitely change. four teenagers have now been arrested in california for allegedly plotting to shoot students and teachers at their high school. police say students came forward that they heard talk of the alleged plot on campus. investigators say search warrant led them to four boys and evidence including a list of targets. the sheriff says the student's plan was detailed but still in the early stages. hear from the mother of one of the intended victims coming up in our second half hour. campaign 2016 now presidential hopeful bernie sanders is attracting huge crowds. the candidate who was running as a democrat spoke on a number of issues. some of the loudest applause came in response to sander's

per hour towards our friends bermuda there. monday into tuesday, a it passes hundreds of miles away from us and moves out to sea as a category one tuesday as well as into wednesday. so for us the impact going to be mainly for bermuda. hurricane warning on the island. no rain or wind for us here. but it will be hundreds of miles out to sea. it's close enough to us that we're beginning to notice it in the marine forecast. beach erosion is a potential but no big floodingishes for us. that's about it. satellite radar picture shows we do have low lying clouds. but actually some mostly clear skies. further to the north and west. hour by hour forecast. as we go throughout this afternoon, 1:0:00 p.m. pausing it there. there's still a chance for some drizzle and clouds along the coastline. by once we get outside of the 495 loop, then you guys might see some breaks of sun. really the tale of two cities here.

29-year-old nathan sratan and casey luiz were among those and five other americans that died shortly after the plane took off yesterday. grief counseling being offered for everyone at bedford base. police now say the gunman in the campus shooting took his own life. investigators found he turned the gun on himself after a shoot out with police. he killed nine people and wounded nine others. just days after the oregon massacre, four teenagers have been arrested in california for allegedly planning to shooting and kill students and teachers at their high school. investigators say search warrants led them to four boys and evidence, including a list of targets. one mom, who is also a teacher, broke down when she found out her daughter was on the list.

good morning. a tough test for the boston college football team yesterday afternoon as the eagles ventured down to durham, north carolina for a battle with duke. we begin second half, huge fourth and goal. good stop by the eagle's defense. they were solid all day. keeps a 9-0 duke lead. the highlight comes alert. dc offense, got crushed. but gets the ball away in time who beats defender and goes to the house. it's a 9-7 game. duke with the 2 point lead. thanks to the bc defense, colton lickenberg, it sails wide and remains a 9-7 game. and over two minutes do go, fourth and three at duke.

that's where we could have some areas of drizzle and even north of boston. we actually have clearing skies. the clouds will roll back into the picture throughout the day and especially aening lo the coast. -- along the coast. thanks to that on shore flow. hour by hour, here's 2:00 p.m. that's where you're going to see some bursts of sun. along the coast a little bit of a rough day there. another napping kind of day. overnight tonight, still some drizzle along the coast, and same deal for monday morning. although here in boston, we start to see partly sunny skies pretty strong still from the north and east. not as bad as yesterday. the wind will start to subside. forecast wind gives between 20 times. but really going to be few and gusts. current temperatures 40s and 50s. we're only going to warm into the mid-50s at the most.
