developing right now at 6:00 o'clock a state of emergency. the rescues and death toll from record breaking flooding in south carolina. and a breaking discovery in a new hampshire home. a huge stash of weapons and ammo. plus hillary clinton targeting gun laws as he returns to new england today. from the channel 4 studio in boston. this is wbz this morning. good morning, it is 6:00 a.m. monday october 5th, getting back into that monday work week mode i'm kathryn hauser and chris mckinnon.

let get over to danielle with our chilly start this morning. >> reporter: in southern new hampshire and massachusetts where frost advisories are up this morning. it is actually freeze weather in concord and lakes region as well. wide range. depends on where you are. mid 50s from plymouth back down to the cape. north and west of town 38 in springfield and 34 in keen right now. we have had some low clouds that have filled in here and i times. this is the hour by hour forecast, so yes, there will be there. can't rule out a sprinkle or little shower, temperatures still in the mid to upper 50s for most of us. we have a warming trend coming

>> reporter: you're probably caught from the south route three northbound is a tough ride after a crash back in way mouth. 24 northbound you're already heavy and slow from bridge water up to 128. checking north now 93 south andover and cass cover. >> thank you very much. record flooding in south carolina at least seven people have been killed. in some areas more than 2 feet hours. many residents don't have drinking water because of broken water mains.

yesterday and more door to door searches will be taking place. cars. a 75-mile stretch of i.75 is shut down. president has already issued a state of emergency. also the coast guard searching for any signs of a u.s. cargo ship that sailed into the hurricane joaquin. bree has the latest. >> reporter: the coast guard plans to have a media update later this morning. what we do know so far is that they located a container, a life ring and other items. the vessel did sail straight into the hurricane's path trying to get into san juan puerta rico.

the coast guard searched 70,000 nautical square miles. but mothers are hoping that their loved ones are somewhere safe. >> it is very difficult, but i have to tell you that it is so supportive to be with people going through what we are going through. if you can say that, it makes it's a little less heart wrenching. >> they have two lifeboats and they can hold three times the amount of members on board. >> thank you, bree. right now a much weaker hurricane joaquin is hitting bermuda with sustained winds of about eighty-five miles an hour.

flooded areas and homes destroyed. no word on any death. a car went out of control home. a dangerous discovery, 10,000 rounds of ammo and weapons at a man's home, he is investigation. and susie steimle has more. >> reporter: i can tell you that man undergoing the evaluation is 67-year-old mark shleglal of pelham new hampshire. he fired four shots into a closet because he truly believed that four people were attacking him. it was his neighbors that called police. you can take a look at at what they found when they arrived. as you said, 10,000 rounds of ammunition all stacked up inside of his base.. he was also completely naked at

the time when they found him with seven firearms nearby. he is a military veteran and say he did own the guns and ammunition legally. fortunately none of those shots penetrated his neighbor's walls, but they are shook up. >> i don't mind them, but i don't think we're strict enough on the ammo and the people that we give the guns to. he thought he was doing what he had to do but there's no evidence to support that apartment. >> reporter: once his mental health evaluation is complete

charges he will -- he will face charges. caught on video. you can see here a man pulled over took off and then crashed into a tree and then a fire hydrant. he will be arraigned today on drug charges as well as reckless conduct. 6:07 is the time right now. >> 2 suspects are wanted during a home invasion and nicole is with us with details. >> reporter: good morning, two men in their 40s and this two- year-old little girl, it is important to know that two-year- old was not injured in this situation, in fact police say the entire or deal. but here is what we know so far. it was in the early morning

allegedly forced their way into a home on pure tan avenue with a knife and handgun. 1 was pistol whipped and the other stabbed we're told that and ransacked the home. both were conscious and alert when police arrived and hospital where the stabbing victim was in stable victim and the other man who happens to be the father of the child in good condition. the child was reunited with the mother at the hospital. police did ask those victims why they waited an hour to contact police. they had no answer for that, but certainly the situation is still under investigation. anyone with information is urged to contact police.

nicole jacobs, wbz news. an oregon college will reopen today but no classes. students will be loud to collect their belongings. yesterday people joined together in prayer for the nine victims. 1 father described how his daughter survived by playing dead next to a victim. >> the blood of that boy that covered my daughter saved my daughter's life. >> police say the 26-year-old gunman killed himself. investigators are still trying to figure out the motive behind the attack. meanwhile talk of gun control today. hillary clinton will be back today and will pros four measures to tighten begun

concord new hampshire below freezing. still gusty wind out there. i think the biggest thing you will notice tomorrow the wind will subside substantially across the board. i do think the clouds went out today and that doesn't mean we won't see some peeks of sunshine. the rain is sitting over north carolina that stream of moisture over the northern portion of north carolina right now and joaquin is north of bermuda. it is going to be pulling away from the island here over the next several hours. picking up speed and then gradually weakening to a remnant low by the end of the week. now we will see a stray shower, but i think it will be isolated at best. we start on the cape, temperatures 65 the 70 pretty

year-old mark selectal's apartment on sunday night. -- selectal. he was yelling about shooting four people. there was no evidence of anyone actually being inside the apartment. but as you might imagine. neighbors and police were very concerned when they arrived on scene. >> he truly believed there were four people and fired some rounds in the direction of where he thought they were that fortunately stayed in the area of his apartment, did not penetrate any walls or go into anybody else's apartment. >> reporter: the police did bring shlegl to the hospital here. after the evaluation he could face charges in court in november. students and staff at colleges in philadelphia are on

attack the threat was made on social media saying the attack would happen at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon but no specific school was named, it was not enough to cancel classes but police are warning schools to be on alert. to make sure schools are prepared for a worst case scenario police, fbi and emts were at goffstown. >> it's not just for an active shooter scenario, we could have a roof collapse, a hazmat, we need to have a plan in place.

and killing his math teacher was found guilty this week. chisholm was 14 at the time but will be tried as an adult. -- he was not found guilty, his trial will begin on tuesday. two suspects are wanted after a home invasion in worster. >> reporter: this situation is still under investigation. but here is what we know right now. the two-year-old that was home at the time of the home invasion was completely unaware of what was happening and is just fine. 2 suspects forced their way inside a home there early sunday morning and allegedly attacked two men inside stabbing one of them and pistol

we are told the two suspects only described as white males demanded must be and ransacked the home. both victims were conscious and alert when police arrived and they were transported to a local hospital where the stabbing victim is in stable condition and the other victim who happens to be the father of that child is in good condition. the little girl was reunited with her mother again, uninjured, unaware of what happened. police asked the two victims why they waited an hour before contacting police, we are told they had no reason. but police are still investigating the situation and would like to hear from anyone with more information. a rhode island man is in trouble for keeping an alligator as a pet. authorities found a four and a house.

there's that band of rain just oppressive just a little stream off the atlantic, continuing through portions of south carolina. there is joaquin by the way, and there were some hurricane force wind gusts last night, it will move off to the north and east here and gradually weaken through the midsal part of the week. for us, high pressure builds in. otherwise, today a stray shower, tomorrow clouds admit morning then increasing -- and then increasing sunshine. notice there's not a whole a lot of rain coming up later in the week. sun and a couple of clouds popping up. we do get a shot of reinforcing cooler air on thursday.
