student who was also reported missing but seen on surveillance video following ritzer inside of a bathroom. police say that is where he murdered his teacher, chism murdered ritzer, his math teacher, raped her and slit her throat. it would be the next day, investigators would find ritzer dead and chism walking along the side of the road. it was widely reported that ritzer asked chism to stay after school because he seemed distracted earlier in the day in class. a videotaped interview with chism, authorities say he said ritzer provoked the attack by insulting him. chism's defense attorney saying investigators coerced him into making that confession. ultimately, the judge decided not to allow that video as part of evidence during this trial. chism is now 16 years old. again, he was 14 years old at the time of the crime.
