it's 6:00 on this saturday morning. i'm kerry connolly along with pamela gardner bringing us a perfect weekend. >> perfect for leaf peeping or any outdoor activities you have going on. full sun ahead and a gradual warm-up, too. we're starting off in the 50s and 40s. a cool 42 in worcester. 47 taunton. 48 degrees plymouth and right around 50 degrees on the cape and islands. satellite and radar picture will show the clouds moving out. clear skies. now starting off with mostly clear skies, too. all the rain is out of here as well. that's the biggest thing here. but the wind is still strong coming from the north at this time. eventually it will shift coming from the northwest. gusts between 25, 35 miles per hour in some spots and strong gusts here on the vineyard. 36 miles per hour. so the wind will help usher in dry air keeping us cool. 60 degrees. a fallish feel all afternoon.

forecast, when we will see the 70s for some high temperatures and then your next chance for rain as well. kerry? >> all right, pamela. thank you. we do have a developing story now. a lawyer and his girlfriend arrested in a gruesome murder on the south shore. the arrests come nearly a month after a mash,field man was found -- marshfield man was found dead inside his home. >> we said it and we meant it. we told them we were coming for them and we did. >> reporter: an emotional police chief after two more arrests in a vicious murder in his town. in mid-september the body of 45- year-old robert mckenna was found in his home on a quiet wooded street. he'd been robbed and brutally killed, blood throughout the house. >> this was a gruesome crime scene. >> reporter: when police arrested 40-year-old james ferguson late last month they said they were looking for at least two other suspects. now they have them. 32-year-old michael

ties to marshfield and his girlfriend, 31-year-old lauren kalil. moscaritolo was charged with murder. kalil charged with helping hide evidence. moscaritolo was arrested at the quincy home he apparently shared with kalil. >> attorney michael moscaritolo and james ferguson have ruined a lot of peep's lives and now they have -- people's lives and now they have officially ruined their owns. >> reporter: police recovered five guns stolen from the victim's house including an ar15 assault rifle and ak-47. investigators are probably seeking even more suspects. >> we're not done yet t. is our belief there certainly may be person or persons out there. that person should understand also that we're not done working. >> kalil and moscaritolo are both in custody. they will both be held over the long holiday weekend set to appear this coming tuesday in court. in marshfield, jill smith, wbz this morning. there is justice for the

grandmother murdered inside her home. a jury has convicted her killer. timothy koska beat and stabbed 67-year-old barbara coyne during a robbery in 2012. other blocks apart. federal authorities say they stopped a murder plot with days to spare and an everett man is being held on murder for hire charges now. joseph burke allegedly told an undercover f.b.i. act he was looking for work -- agent he was looking for work as a hit manual. the agent -- man. the agent learned he was planning to kill a man in new york next week. chaos in framingham. an suv plows into a crowd at a busy auto auction. at least eight people were hurt. an elderly driver was behind the wheel. >> reporter: chaos inside a car

an elderly man driving a bmw suv hit eight bystanders before hitting a wall. >> i was actually like ten feet away. i was kind of in shock. >> they pulled the car a little bit up and they pulled the guy out from underneath the car. >> reporter: larry was one of those injured. >> as i spun around to see what was going on, i felt like i got hit in the back of the leg. i don't know if people hit me, a car. everything happened so fast. i think the car might have hit multiple cars going through and one car hit me. >> reporter: about 1,000 people were insides the adesa auction facility in framingham friday morning. the cars are driven in a lane in front of prospective buyers. 78-year-old herbert sunshine drove the suv. >> looked like he was unconscious right after. seemed like he was confused. he hit the gas by accident instead of the brake and it went downhill from there. >> the car was speeding 30, 40 mile per hour. every second i was waiting he's going to stop. >> reporter: larry was able to

escaping the confusion but not the pain. >> i got outside and was checking myself to see what really happened to me. fortunately i think i'll be fine. i just got a little bruised up, banged up. >> reporter: officers say none ever the injuries are life threatening. charges have not been filed. in frame ma'am, wbz this morning. the search is on for a bear in newton. respect accidents alerted people -- residents were alerted by police. at one point they thought they had the bear cornered but it got away. >> at this point it's somewhere in the auburndale area. the city sent out a robo call to area residents advising them to stay inside. if you have motion detector lights, please put them on. you don't want to be outside. >> if you see this bear, police say give them a call right away. a social worker from wakefield is accused of human trafficking and has been connected to child pornography. police began investigating 34-

when they say he began inappropriately communicating with three 15-year-old girls out ever state. paul owns north shore recovery management in reading. his license has been suspended pending an investigation. new developments in a school scare. every school in newton will get an emergency inspection to check for carbon monoxide. two workers at franklin elementary were overcome by fumes yesterday working on a newly installed boiler. they'll be okay but classes at franklin had to be canceled. boilers at all newton schools will be checked by monday. hall wean scares -- a halloween scare comes in all shapes and sizes. coming up a very brave pamela gardner checks out the area's attractions. the race is on to save priceless artifacts.

because the nights are going to be rather chilly but the amps are going to be quite -- afternoons are going to be quite comfortable. first to the rain. overall we're still in a drought technically. the drought monitor comes out every thursday. this does not include the rain we had last night but we're still in a normally -- normally dry conditions to drought conscious. below normal rainfall since all the way back to january 1. we did add another quarter of an inch to half an inch of rain in our running total here from all those showers we had from yesterday. so some beneficial showers and some soggy ground out there as you head out the door maybe take the dog for a walk, it's going to be a little muddy out there. but then with the full sunshine this afternoon and a little bit of a breeze, a lot of that moisture will evaporate pretty quickly. hour-by-hour forecast we start this morning into this afternoon, this evening, there you go. full sunshine for us. a few passing clouds if that. overnight tonight, a few clouds develop, too, especially in

northern parts of the area. but most of us will be clear enough that we might see some areas of patchy frost developing. hour-by-hour continuing into sunday still nothing moving our way. we're good to go. nice and dry. boston right now 50 degrees. dew point temperature 39 degrees. that is very dry out there. dew point temps nice and low. winds still strong from the north and west 13 miles per hour. winds could gust up to 30 throughout the course of the morning hours. but then starting to weaken just a little bit later today. current stretches in the 40s for -- temps in the 40s for most locations. the exception boston with 50 degrees. hour by hour we warm to 54 degrees by 11:00. 64 degrees at 3:00 and full sunshine topping out at 58 degrees. some spots easily in the lower 60s. fitchburg 60 right on the dot. 62 take youtown. 57 falmouth. a great fall day on the cape and islands with highs in the upper 50s. lows tonight in the 40s for most but many, many locations

into the mid and upper 30s. and that's why the national weather service has issued a frost advisory. this goes into effect tonight, 2:00 a.m. all the way through 8:00 a.m. so for sunday morning a very chilly start to your day but wonderful afternoon on sunday with a high of 67 degrees. it is columbus day weekend and you can see the gradual warm-up all three days. 75 degrees by monday with another sunny day for you. then we'll have some changes on the way for tuesday. chance of a few showers, 72 degrees. back to the crisp and cool fall air for the end of the week. highs right around 60 degrees. so not too bad. chance for rain thursday into friday as well. >> wow, that's a good looking forecast right there. pretty foliage and pumpkins on the lawn aren't the only signs of fall here in new england. >> that's right. all this month i'm checking out some of the area's best halloween happenings. today i head to the wimp's

>> reporter: witches, zombies and chainsaws, oh my. my journey through witch's woods brought terror. yup, that was me screaming in the nightmare mansion. here's a tip. it doesn't matter what order you go in your group, everyone gets a good scare. the park has a great layout with several haunts to visit but don't let your guard down. characters surprise guests outside the haunts houses, too. from jacqueline to the horror wood chamber of chills. even a 3-d experience in creeper's crypt. the main afraction is the haunted hayride. each wagon get as narrator. my narrator was bob. i talked to him earlier but it was a challenge to get through the chat. >> i've narrated hayrides -- [ laughing ]

they strive very hard to balance between scaring the pants off of you and letting you have a good time. >> reporter: time for the hayride. what could possibly happen? >> well come to the witch's woods hayride. you'll be riding with me. i'm the dark imperial wizard lord bob. it's a family name. >> reporter: some humor makes the ride seem pleasant for just a second. then terror galore. lord bob tells us the story of the demons plague as we go through the village of curse and six people. the characters come out all around the wagon chasing after us, screaming at us. just when you think it's over [ chainsaw running ] >> i thought the characters were scary but the guy with the change saw. >> s that -- chainsaw. >> that's the worst part.

often the mass pike doesn't move fast enough but things happen very quickly friday morning when a man helped deliver his baby right there on the side of the ride. after the man's 911 call, state police started teeting putting out the word -- tweeting putting out the word that the couple needed april. natick -- help. natick fire and eps crews were the first -- ems crews were the

the white house was lit up last night in honor of breast cancer month. a local woman running the baa half marathon this weekend is a proud survivor. when sandee stratton gets in queue at the start line, it will be nine days since her final treatment. they was diagnosed with breast cancer in may. when she found out about dana- farber's half marathon team, she knew the training and fund raising would distract her from her fear and keep her strong. >> but what it has given bhe is

daytime heat we had from yesterday. we didn't fall back into the 30s like we could have. 47 norwood. 42 degrees as you wake up in worcester. wind gusts comings from north and west ushering in some cooler and drier air now that we have that rain out of here. a cold front moved through. that's why it was so soggy yesterday. we did have a couple of thunderstorms, too. vineyard, you guys dealing with 36 mile per hour wind gust. the winds will be an issue all day, although the gists won't be as strong -- gusts won't be afternoon. your hour-by-hour forecast, we'll be in the upper 50s, lower 60s all day long with full sunshine. this way. coming up in just a bit, when we'll see some 70s for your holiday weekend forecast and when we might have another kerry? >> all right, pamela, thank you. checking our top stories now, police have arrested two more people in the murder of a marshfield man last month. michael moscaritolo and his girlfriend lauren kalil are charged with killing 45-year-

found stabbed to death in his home on damons point road september 16. police have recovered guns that were stole frn mckenna's -- stolen from mckenna's home. police are warning residents to keep their pets inside because of a bear sighting around monroe and webster streets last night. police searched but couldn't find it. if you see the bear, of course don't go near it and call police for help. police think an elderly driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake hitting several people and vehicles at an auto auction in framingham. this is cell phone video from inside the adesa facility. the 78-year-old was driving an suv in front of prospective buyers. he hit eight bystanders before driving into a wall and pinning a man underneath the vehicle. none ever the injuries are life threatening. no charges have been filed.

latest -- owe so that crash is just the latest that has some asking should massachusetts change the rules on elderly drivers and should there be an age limit at how long you should have your license. jon keller takes a closer look at the controversy. >> reporter: today's horror show in framingham is an all too familiar sight. miraculously this elderly driver's detour into a busy real estate office this summer caused no injuries. but two people were hurt in may when a 93-year-old driver lost control outside a braintree supermarket. >> it was probably one of the worst i've seen in a while in a parking lot. >> reporter: federal statistics show drivers over age 65 account for close to 20% of all traffic fatalities and the numbers have been rising. as the baby boomers age, it's expected men and women will outlive their driving skills by six to ten years.

most lenient states when it comes to regulating senior drivers' safety requiring only that they take an eye test when they renew their license. the closest we've come to a crackdown was six years ago when the death of a 4-year-old crossing a stoughton street sparked outrage. >> let's take action now. >> reporter: but no action was taken. why not? at this driver's ed class for seniors we attended a while back, a common complaint about tighter elder driving restrictions was heard [ inaudible ] >> reporter: with powerful senior advocacy groups putting pressure on lawmakers to back off, you can count on seeing scenes like this unfold again and again. >> if you think this is an easy fix or just want to letter the boom on those balky lawmakers, try telling your 80-year-old loved one they can't drive anymore. but then again who wants to keep seeing tragedies that should be almost completely

news. president obama cover r comforted the families -- comforted the families of those killed on a college campus last week but he did not get a warm welcome from gun protesters when he arrived. they carried signs and guns showing their anger over the president's call for more gun the president met privately with the families of the eight students and the teacher killed college. >> we're going to have to come together as a country to see how we can prevent these issues from taking place, but today is about the families, their grief, the love we feel for them. they surely do appreciate all received. >> classes at the college will resume on monday. but on the same day ever the president's visit -- of the president's visit, lives were college campuses. in texas one student was killed. another person was wounded outside a student housing

complex at texas senior university. police are -- texas senior university. police are now questioning -- texas southern university. police are questioning two men and in arizona an 18-year-old is facing murder charges for shooting another student in a parking lot near a dormitory. three other people were wounded. all four victims were members of the same fraternity. landmarks that have survived thousands of years in the desert are becoming the latest casualties of serious civil -- syria's civil war. isis is systematically wiping out the cultural heritage. >> reporter: for 2000 years the arch was the crown jewel of one of syria's most cherished archeological sites until islamic state militants blew it up this week. >> when you destroy cultural heritage, all that is left of a people, you are in effect destroying their cultural dentty. >> reporter: colonel matthew investigated the looting of

well, one lowell police officer is under fire for taking that nap on the job. this officer was seen sleeping in a marked cruiser friday morning. he was sound asleep on a pillow with the seat all the way back. a police superintendent ordered an immediate investigation. the red sox are done for the season but some former players are still fighting for the world series. >> we have all the rain out of here. now we have a fabulous weekend coming up. it is columbus day, the holiday on monday. gradual warm-up day by day. for today temperatures will be very fallish, right around 60 degrees for the high. full sunshine, light breeze from the northwest. not too bad. the details on those numbers and when we'll get warm into the 70s coming up in just a bit. we have weather trivia, second question of the morning.

the pats will be looking to go 4-on for the eighth time. there was talk about who would share the runningback duties. dion lewis rushed for 69 yards and has continued to play extreme:ly well. as we reported thursday, the pats have given him a to-year extension. coach belichick says lewis is a coach's dream. >> i think off the field dion has been great. you know, he had a really good off-season us for, works hard -- us for, works hard. he's a well conditioned player. he does a got job of lettering. he's learned -- learning. he's learned a lot of different spots. he's picked things up well. he works hard. he's tough. he's there every day. you know, very coachable. just really tries to do what you ask him to do. whatever it is, he just -- you know, he doesn't ask any questions. he just works hard to get it right. you love to coach guys like that.

>> it all gets going on sunday. starts off with patriots game day at 11:30. they kick off at 4:25 followed by the fifth quarter post-game show on my tv38. quite a night for boston college grads at eight former student athletes like damion woody were inducted into the bc varsity club hall of fame. congratulations to them. they'll be honored this afternoon. baseball, what a game in st. louis. jon leicester was on the hill -- jon lester was on the hill for the cubs. he gave this rbi single in the bottom of the 1st. cards had a 1-0 lead. john lackey would do his best to make it stand up. he's sensational. get as double play to end the u.n.ing and one more out in the 8th before coming out to a standing ovation. no runs over seven and a third.

this bomb to make it 2-0. cards would add another two-run blast and win. 4-0 the final. kansas city, astros and royals game two of their series. the game was tides at 4. in the 7th inning, escobar a fly to right. it falls and then it nobodiles. -- fobbles. gets all the way to 3rd. next batter up base hit to left. escobar scores. royals bullpen does the job. they win 5-4 to even their series at a game a piece. the [ inaudible ] that's the winning run. he loves it. rainers win 6-4 and go home to texas up 2-0. that's sports for now.

i'm steve burton. guys, over to you. kerry? pamela. it's the kind of october weekend we all wait for all year round and looks like it's going to be a beauty. what's going on? >> it looks like all that rain is out of here as you can tell by this picture. we have mostly clear skies over boston right now. and on our way to a cool, crisp fallish day for you. a slight warm-up day by day over the next few days into monday and that's when we'll have some 70s. check this out. breton woods, new hampshire, mt. washington, up there they've been getting snow for the last five hours. i said it, the s word, snow. they're up in the higher elevations of course. not for us. for us today temperatures will be too warm and we don't have any precip moving in. we did get rain yesterday. that helped give us a quarter inch to half an inch of accumulation here. boston just a quarter of an inch of beneficial rain.

all that rain is out of here. we have clear skies setting up for the rest of this afternoon into this evening n. your hour- by-hour forecast, you can see nothing pushing in except a few clouds out here sunday morning, but then by sunday afternoon again those clouds will dissipate. more sun ahead as we set you up for a perfect day on monday, too. boston right now 50 degrees. dew point nice and low, 39 degrees. light breeze from the northwest. time. but on the cape and islands, we still have a pretty mean wind gust between 30, 35 miles per hour here from the northwest. the wind gusts will subside throughout the course of this afternoon. temperatures in the 40s and 50s to start off your day. hour-by-hour forecast for boston with that brisk northwest breeze and air flow and the dry air we'll only be in the 50s for the rest of this afternoon. 55 degrees by the noon hour. 56 degrees at 2:00. on our way to a high of 58 degrees with the lower 60s for some folks farther inland.

but that's about it. a cool fallish day. lows tonight back in the 40s with mid and upper 30s out there as well. because we get so cold, we're going to keep it clear overnight with fairly calm conditions. frost likely to develop in some spots. frost advisory for the counties here in blue. this is right around the boston area. 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on sunday. so bring any sensitive plants you want to save indoors if you can or cover them up. foliage tracker to the north, that's where we're getting near peak. northern maine, new hampshire, vermont. we're starting to see patchy color around the boston area, too. as i took a drive yesterday, the last couple of days it was fantastic. the color is really starting to pop. if you're heading to the north, though, to do any leaf peeping, perfect weekend for t. really feeling like the season -- for it. really feeling like the season and dry all three days. we get up to 75 degrees on columbus day. 72 degrees for tuesday with a chance for some rain wednesday into thursday. cooling off again to right around 60 degrees with a chance

no charges have been filed. police are warning newton residents to stay inside and keep their pets inside because after bear sighting. neighbors saw the bear napping around rowe and webster streets. police searched but couldn't find it. if you see the bear obviously don't go near it and if you can, police call the police for help. a developing story this morning from turkey where bombs ripped through a peace rally in the capital city killing 30 people and leaving 126 others wounded. turkey's interior minister says the explosions happened near a train station as demonstrators were just starting to gather for the rally. president obama comforted the families of those killed on an oregon college campus last week, but he didn't get a warm welcome from gun rights activists when he arrived. the protesters carried both signs and guns showing their anger over the president's call for more gun control. the president met privately

that dry air definitely here. yesterday we had dew points in the lower 60s. completely different feel out there today. wind from the northwest at 9 miles per hour. we do have some wind gusts on the cape and islands but that wind will subside just slightly. we'll keep a breeze in there throughout the afternoon, though. 49 in boston. 46 national. 39 degrees in keene. hour-by-hour forecast for us here in boston, we'll be back in the 50s. we stay in the 50s for the entire day. 55 degrees by noon. 1:00 55 degrees. holding in the mid and upper 50s for the rest of the day with some spots reaching the lower 60s although most of us should stay in the upper 50s. mid-50s for the cape and the islands. overnight tonight lows back in the 40s. but outlying areas, the suburbs, especially in the country, that's where you guys are going to see low temps in the mid and upper 30s. we do have a frost advisory in low-lying areas right around boston 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. sunday.

it's about a massive fire in franklin, mass. we have just learned it's at a condo complex. it started about 20 minutes ago on innocencebrook way -- on innsbrook way. it reportedly started as an explosion. we don't know why. we don't know the cause of it. we have a crew enroute and we of course will keep you updated as soon as we get more information on this massive fire out of thank lynn, mass. -- franklin, mass. often the mass pike doesn't move fast enough but things happen very quickly on friday morning when a man helped deliver his own baby on the side of the road. yikes. after the man's 911 call, state police started tweeting putting out the word that the couple needed help. natick fire and emergency crews were the first to arrive but by then, the couple already had a brand new baby girl. troopers sent out their congratulations and best wishes for a happy and healthy life. one of those stories the little baby will have forever.

pamela here now with a final recap on our weekend forecast. what more can you say? >> gorgeous. today will be the coolest day the next few days. if you have a three-day weekend for columbus day on monday looking great here. we have a cool start and a windy start to the day. temperatures in the 40s but by this afternoon 60 degrees for the high temps. and the wind will slowly subside although we keep a dominant northwest breeze out there. sunday 67 and milder. monday 75 degrees on columbus day leaf peepers, it's a go for any of your plans. if you're heading to the north there, temperatures will be a little on the cooler side, 50s up in the mountains. mt. washington getting reports that they've had snow overnight. i said it. snow. not for us. no worries. 72 for tuesday. then back into the 60s for wednesday and thursday. we have a chance for rain tuesday. and another chance for a spotty shower on thursday and friday. temperatures more fallish by

>> look who we have here, pamela. when you were doing the weather, i got a little visit here from cora lee. she is here with save a dog out of sudbury. what a little sweety. she is in need of a home. don't forget pet parade tomorrow morning right around 7:25. tune in and you'll meet cora lee and some other cuties that really need a home. she is 7 years old. i haven't -- by the look of those ears, i think she has a little chiwauwa in her. look at that face. cora lee just snuck in so i could put her on tv really quickly. i don't know her story. we'll find out her story. many times as you know it's heartbreaking. she could have been surrendered or a stray. i don't know yet but i will find out for the pet parade tomorrow. i'm just meeting her now and i think i love her already. she is so sweet. and gentle.
