police cruiser, moved forward again, struck a second police cruiser, an ostlerser got out of the car, ordered him to stop. he did not. one hot was fired to the drive side window, hitting the driver in the shoulder. >> the man later died at the hospital. everyone else on the scene is okay. meanwhile, there are new details this morning about a fire in franklin, a couple was killed when a fiery explosion tore through their condo. as jim smith explains, the couple had just moved up from florida to be closer to their grandchildren. >> i heard the big boom about ten before 7:00 a.m. >> reporter: a terrifying sight flames. a huge fire and explosion, it was likely fed by propane. >> i looked out back and it was really quick.

was destroyed. a husband and wife living both killed. nancy and richard bronc both 6- -brown, both 66, had moved back grandchildren. it is so sad. >> reporter: the two other units were still vacant, the bodies of the two victims were discovered close together. >> it is tragic our community, it goes throughout the community, so we are saddened by the tragedy in our hearts and prayers go to the family members. >> reporter: the cause of the explosion and fire is still under investigation. there is no indication widespread problem but some people are now un-icy. will you stay---un-'s ease- -uneasy.

and despite the concerns, investigators at this point believe that a propanish you was isolated, confined to these units, but that will spend the next several days checking everything out to make sure, as well as investigating the cause of the horrible explosion and fatal fire. in franklin, jim smith, wbz this morning. meanwhile, fire crews in fitchburg were fighting a blaze in a three family home on henry street. the fire started on the second floor. everyone got out of the building safely. but 10 people were displaced and they are staying with friends or relatives. no word on what caused the fire. the boston police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in dorchester. police have released video of a person of interest who they want to talk to. the assault happened on september 27th at dorchester avenue. and the police are looking for a suspect that may have pulled off four armed robberies in one day, all of the robberies happened in and leroy

want an extra layer because temperatures are running in the 30s and 40s. boston here, we're holding with 49 degrees, some 40s, a couple of 50s there on the cape and islands. really a big variation in temperatures because we had some clear skies overnight. for the half marathon today, 8:00 a.m. the start time, 52-degrees and a southwest breeze at 10 to 15 miles per hour. no rain on the way throughout the entire day. 4:00 p.m., temperatures reach their peak in the mid and upper 60s and then we cool off into the 50s for coming up in just a bit, i'll have more details on when we'll see some 70s. your columbus day forecast not far away as well >> pamela, thank you so much as we mentioned, the baa

inside. >> i didn't see any injuries on her, but i'm sure if they were in the car when it was being hurt, i'm sure that they're going to be, you know, sore. reporter: the individual struck the toyota highlander on two occasionings then pack up action struck a beverly police cruiser and then hit another one. an officer ordered him to stop, he did not. one shot was fired through the driver's side man in the shoulder. reporter: the man later died at the hospital. details about a fire in franklin. a couple was killed in that fire. ten before 7:00, thought maybe it was a thunderstorm.

a condo building totally engulfed in flames. the inferno likely fed by propane which is used to heat the units. >> within two minutes of the sound, looked out back and the building was completely it was quick. reporter: a husband and wife both killed. nancy and richard brown, both 66 had just moved back up from florida to be close to their grandchildren. >> they walked every morning. just nice grandparents. >> yeah. reporter: how sad is this? >> terribly sad. reporter: the bodies of the victims were found close together. >> it's tragic for our community. it's a small, tightly knitted community so we are saddened by the tragedy and prayers go to the family members. reporter: the cause of the explosion and fire still under investigation. the chief says

there's no indication of a widespread problem but some people living here are now uneasy about the propane factor. >> i don't know if we're going to stay here. reporter: i was going to stay are you going to stay here? >> probably not, just until they reassure that everything is okay. reporter: investigators at this point believe that any possible propane issue was isolated, confined to these units but they will spend the next several days checking everything out to make sure as well as investigating the cause of this explosion and fatal fire. boston police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a six yule assault in dorchester. police have released surveillance of a person of interest they want to talk to. police are also looking for a suspect that may have pulled off four armed robberies in one day.

hopefully that will happen any minute now. certainly this is an exciting day for all of these runners. it's the 15th annual running of the baa half marathon. 13.1-miles and we're getting started right across from the zoo. our truck here is moving so you'll see a little movement as the runners are poised to get started. certainly, one of the exciting, elite runners that we've been hearing about the caroline. of course she won the boston marathon this past year so everyone is excited to see all of these elite runners. you might see some of them at the front of the pack lined up ready to go. any minute now, we should get started. again, 13.1 miles. we're told the emerald point area of the city, so a beautiful run, there you go. there's the start.

toyota highlander on two occasions, then backed up, struck a police cruiser, moved forward, struck a second beverly police cruiser. an officer got out of the car, ordered him to stop. he did not. one shot was fired through the driver's side window hitting shoulder. >> the man later died at the hospital >>there are new detail this is morning ant a fire in franklin. a couple was killed when an explosion tore through their condominium. the couple had just moved up from florida to be closer to their grandchildren. >> i heard the big boom about ten before 7:00. thought maybe it was a thunderstorm. reporter: a terrifying sight in franklin. a condo building totally engulfed in flames.

a huge fire and explosion likely fueled by propane. >> within two minutes of the sound, looked out back and the building was completely engulfed. reporter: one brand new unit was destroyed. a husband and wife living there both killed. nancy and richard brown, both 66 had just moved back up from florida to be close to their grandchildren. >> they walked every morning, just nice grandparents. >> yeah, terribly sad. reporter: the two other adjoining units were still vacant. the bodies of the two victims were discovered close together. >> its tragic for your community. its a small, tightly knitted community. it goes throughout the community so we are saddened by the tragedy and our hearts and prayers go to the family members. reporter: the cause of the explosion and fire still under investigation. the chief says there's no indication of a widespread problem, but some people living here are now uneasy about the propane factor. >> we don't know if we're going

to sleep here. reporter: yeah, i was going to say will you stay here? >> i don't know. probably not just until we're sure that everything is okay. reporter: and despite those concerns, investigators at this point believe any possible propane issue was isolated, confined to these units but they will spend the next several days checking everything out to make sure as well as investigating the cause of this terrible fire. boston police are looking for a man want ink can with a sexual assault in dorchester. police have released surveillance video of a person of interest who they want to talk to. the assault happened on september 27th on dorchester avenue and harbor view street. police are also looking for a suspect that may have pulled off four armed robberies in one day. all of the robberies happened in the area of gibson and leroy street and in each case, witnesses told police a man with braids and a red shirt threatened to stab them.
