vice-president about this reporter: we did we spoke with company executives and they were opt his particular this proposed buy-out will not only infuse cash into the company the company. it's the state's fourth largest pub committee traded company now emc is on the verge of computer. emc executives say they don't of its 10,000 employees. >> this is really bringing together dell and emc. we're going to create a new enterprise system business that head carded in massachusetts. that was the question all the employees this. reporter: jim kingdom has been in eye highlights tech for 30 years fears a buy-out of emc would mean more job losses for the massachusetts company. >> when you merge two canes together you have redundancy

and people lose their job. it's happened everywhere. reporter: emc is a giant in the computer hardware industry, but here in hopkinton, job losses, even massive cuts would not necessarily mean a dent in the local economy. >> it's not all that concerning from our standpoint. as wonderful as they have been from a tax basis perspective they are only about 5% of our tax base. we're roughly an 85% residential tax base. reporter: i spoke with someone tech council. he was looking at this whole deal not through rose colored glasses. in fact he said he would expect if the deal goes through there could be job cuts here. reporting live from hopkinton bill shields wbz news. >> a lot of people anxious thank you. take a look at this. boston police say this man may have been involved in four assault. police released the surveillance video hoping that somebody would recognize this man and call them.

september 27th on dorchester avenue and haborview street. >> any time you get a situation like that it's always very active investigation. i know there's good footage that was helpful in the apprehension. >> police are investigating with the same man is involved in four armed robberies within 20 minutes that same day in roughly the same area. in each case the victims told police that a man with braids and a red shirt threatened to stab them. a man who was shot in the head after the patriots cowboys game in texas yesterday is still in critical condition tonight. police in arlington say a fight broke out in the at&t parking lot. >> one person was arrest and is facing charges. the victim and the shooter may have been tailgating before this altercation. an investigators still working to cause the cause of a deadly home explosion and fire in franklin. a couple was killed saturday when their home exploded into flames. neighbors say they had just

ignoring tyler's lawyers who told him to -p stop using the song. tyler says doesn't have anything against trump personally but his lawyers say trump does not have permission to use dream on or any other aerosmith song during the campaigns. things seem to be back to normal for southwest airlines computer problems delayed 500 of their flights over problems with their checked baggage system. systems are back up and running so far so good. still today southwest is asking passengers to check in online or through their app before even getting to the airport. >> patriots come home from texas with a big win against the cowboys. >> this weekend it's the team they have been waiting for for a lock time to take on the indianapolis colts. of course the team who started the whole deflate gate debacle. steve burton is here with all the highlights. >> the patriots won't admit it but the next game is personal. real personal. they have waited patiently to play the colts.

4-o. if you think they beat up on dallas imagine what can happen in indy. it was another easy win for tom brady and company last night in dallas. brady was sacked 5 times the first half, but he would have the last laugh. here with a quarterback sneak for the touchdown. he was fired up about that. lewis had another big game. highlighted by the beautiful one hand grab and run. put paths up 20-3 in the 3rd quarter. they win it 30-6. next up the colts sunday night in indy. paths wanted to score the colts after the whole deflate gate scandal. don't expect the players to talk any trash. >> it doesn't get any easier heading into indy a lot of people waiting for that one. >> we'll have to prepare hard this week. them playing thursday they have to jump on is going into week. we'll have to really prepare hard to try to catch up and be ready to go sunday. >> patriots game day feature matchup sunday mornings 11:30.

. already soaked by historic flooding south carolina is hit hard again over the weekend. the death toll tonight stands at 21. 27 dams have failed, 129 still in jeopardy. tonight hundreds of roads remain closed. but tonight there is some hope big stretch of interstate 95 south carolina did reopen. >> cbs's david beg no is in andrus south carolina where communities are still surrounded by water. reporter: over the weekend a new round of heavy rain lashed south carolina. some parts of the state got as much as 6 inches of rain. it soaked areas already saturated with flash flood water.

while no significant damage was reported, recovery efforts have been slow throughout the state. the community of big dam is completely surrounded by floodwater. 15-year-old hunter byrd and his father daniel are one of many volunteers trying to help the 275 people who have become cut off. >> what are you using the boat to do. >> i'm hauling people back and forth as a taxi hauling food, supplies. reporter: for days boats have been the only way in or out of big dam. >> if it wasn't for daniel burke and his boy we would have been in trouble. >> how bad was it. >> do you see where the trash is on the road that's how high the water was. reporter: a doctor add her team have been bringing into the community. it is an island. on sunday she needed a boat to make her house calls. >> it's amazing because i drive this road all the time to do my home visits patients that live out here and there is no road.

we are still going to be warm tomorrow but not as warm as today. more cloudiness around not caused by this front which is going to be approaching which may give us a shower late in the day or tomorrow evening. it's from the system down the coast here. looks rather innocuous right now but it is going to sort of zoom north eastward and the plume will expand into the at least eastern parts of new shortly. first tell you how cool it's going to be tonight and not all that cold. 50s for the most part. low to middle 50s. there will be 40s in parts of western and northern new england when you head out to over. 55 degrees before school you might need that light jacket with the sunriseing at 6:54. by the time you come home from school in the afternoon near 72. partly sunny and breezy at that point. so highs tomorrow should be

degree temperature range upper 60s on cape cod. it's mostly clear into the evening hours. as we get into the overnight hours the clouds start coming up from the south. a few showers may be deposited around right around 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning a little batch of energy goes by with the showers. especially southeast of massachusetts then it's out of here. a couple of bands of showers come in from the west. this first one may give a brief shower isolated thunderstorm late tomorrow afternoon. this will start falling apart tomorrow america. even wednesday is not going to be all that cool. back to average slightly above. we start with sunny skies get lots of clouds. wednesday. here we go with the 7-day accuweather forecast. going below average as we get deeper into the week then we get to friday showery and gusty where the temperatures starts going down they will be down in the upper 50s here by saturday.

. this holiday weekend the price of gas continues to go in the right direction but that soon may change over the past two weeks the average price of a gallon has dropped half a cent. the smallest drop in the past 17 weeks. but a moderate hike in the cost of crude oil has wholesale prices going up. the average price by the way right now is 2:34. governor breaker is proposing a new step to help

governor wants to give hospitals help treat substance abusers. the governor believes medical profess always feed more tools to fight the crisis that is opiate addiction. we have actually 3 big health stories to tell you about tonight. the first involving the benefits of red wine. everyone is smiling. >> any excuse right. i say this is good news about red wine and people with type ii diabetes. researchers found people with type-2 diabetes have red wine at dinner one to two glasses for men up to one glass for women every day at dinnertime that they actually enjoyed a number of things they had better blood sugar they had modest improvements in their cholesterol and they had a reduced risk of heart disease. of course diet, exercise, medications are first line therapies, but hey, for some of you out there red wine may not be such a bad thing. >> i really took care of my health this weekend.

i'm realizing that now. troubling new study out tonight that flame retardants could cause behavioral problems in kids. >> these are called p b des. they are flame retardants chemicals we finds in clothing and upholstery and plastics things like wiring. they found prenatal exposure to these chemicals can increase the risk of attention problems in kids ages 3 to 7. now the good news is back in 200 4 they actually pretty much stopped using these in manufacturing, but the bad news is obviously there are still products out there made before 2004 that can actually leach these things into the environment. they can get into the food and water supply. so, we need to figure out better basis to actually try to get these things out of our environment. >> just thinking this was the time of year we're buying halloween costumes you buy material that says flame retardants but it's not something they use nowadays. >> that's what we're told. >> the season you're born in

>> what season do you think is the best. >> i was born in the springtime may. >> you and i are both may. it's actually summer tile. i know it sounds so strange research done at the university of cambridge in the uk they found babies who were on in the summer were more likely to be health year adults than babies born in the wintertime. they tended to be heavier babies when they were born they tended to be taller adults. girls seem to enter puberty at a later time which is thought to be associated with better health and it's not exactly sure why this is the case, although they suspect that women are exposed to more sunshine in the summertime during their seconds trimester and that increases vitamin d levels in the babies and that that could be good for their long term health. >> here's what i'm proposing. since we are not summer babies and we're spring babies. >> is she a summer baby. >> we're three days apart. >> all may. >> so i'm proposing that we all just drink more red wine. >> not while we're pregnant, david.
