>> you step outside, and it's a little nicer. it's not frigid. >> good morning, barry. >> good morning. the temperatures are so different than yesterday morning. for example, norwood was down in the teens yesterday at this time. the 24-hour temperature change is amazing. it's like almost 30 degrees in some locations higher than yesterday morning. we had a few showers overnight. another batch is on its way as you can see there coming down from southern new hampshire heading toward extreme northern corridor. we'll be moving into the merrimack valley soon. we have a lot of wind out there as well. the wind is on the cape with potential wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour. there could be minor damage with branches coming down. so 48 for the morning drive.

it's unusual to think that you time. >> reporter: he says he got bit at a cookout at his mom's place in jersey in august. couldn't stand. well into the fall, he's come to terms of what could be a two-year recovery process. >> that hurt me when i realized i'm getting worse, not better, and time's running out. >> reporter: co-workers and cliented starts a go fund me campaign to help mounting medical bills. >> it's clear now. i have a lot of support. >> reporter: he hopes folks will take precautions more seriously than he did like using repellent and covering exposed skin after dark. for many, west nile virus has not become anything more than a cold. a brattry of tests have yet to explain why mark's case is so different. he says it's much better safe than sorry.

chris, back to you. >> scary message this morning. three lowell police officers attacked while questioning a suspect. this morning that man heads to court. police say an officer went to the home to talk to a suspect. a witness started hitting the officer, and that's when eventually he threw the officer down the stairs three times. >> the cop knocked on the door. the kid answered the door, and some scuffle ensued. he threw the cop down the stairs. stairs. stairs. he wept back up the stairs and he threw him back down the stairs and slammed the door telling the cop to stay out of his house. >> two backup officers suffered minor injuries as well. they are expected to recover. casio faces numerous charges including assault and battery on a police officer.

she will be a local consultant as the company faces mounting questions about its business. meanwhile, draftkings says an internal investigation cleared one of its employees of using insider information to win big on a rivalling site. a boston lawyer hired by draftkings found that the worker didn't get the information until 40 minutes after his lineup was locked. that employee won $350,000 on fan duel. it is 4:35 right now. the two people charged in the death of bella bond are due back in court today. michael mccarthy is charged with killing the 2-year-old and dumping her body. the girl's mother rachelle bond is charged as an accessory after the fact. both pleaded not guilty. it's unclear what will happen in court today. neither bonneau mccarthy will -- neither bond nor mccarthy will be in court today. according to the globe,

the state's new child advocate will testify today on behalf of the bill that would require the governor, attorney general, and state auditor to jointly appoint that position to a five- year term. currently, the job is appointed to just the governor. an appointee says it's important to be as independent as possible following the death of several children in dcf care. and answering questions following the arrest of a teacher. joseph zuniga is out on bail. he's charged with sending nude photos of himself to a 17-year- old high school student through facebook. whitey bulger's girlfriend ordered to return to federal court in boston next month. kathryn greg refused to testify before a grand jury. prosecutors want to know who may have helped the southie mobster hide from police during

48 degrees in boston and norwood. all in the 50s on the capep in is quite a change from yesterday morning. in fact, so much so that the temperature's gone up 15 to almost as much as 30 degrees in a few spots, especially in the deeper valleys, which were down in the upper teens yesterday morning. that is amazing. enjoy the warmth we have this morning. the wind is out there as well. it's from the southwest coming up here. the national weather service says a wind advisory up because a potential wind gust of 35 to 45 miles per hour today could bring down small limbs and branches so there could be some minor damage there and isolated power outage. we have showers as well. a first batch went across northern massachusetts a couple of hours ago or so. pretty heavy in parts of essex county briefly. right in the string of showers, the batch here close to manchester, milford and sort of

slipping down into townsend, massachusetts, lowell. these showers are moving on. you folks in essex county will get showers shortly. as we go through the day, we'll see the showers wind down and sort of disappear across the map, although we just can't rule out an isolated shower or two this afternoon. there may be breaks of sunshine here and there, but the clouds will tend to rule for much of the day and even into tomorrow, mostly cloudy with that front stalling to our south. the temps will be down because to the north, it will be kind of a front. highs today will be up in the middle 60s. so what a difference yesterday got into the upper 40s. today is in the low to middle 60s. we'll take that with the brisk wind, though. tomorrow will be coolest across the north with the front lying to the south of us along the coast in the 50s and the southern new hampshire into the 50s. south of the front will be in the mid and upper 60s. we've got a 64 today. we've got a 60 tomorrow. 50s up north, light wind

tomorrow compared to the gusty winds we'll have today. then it is a brisk wind back on thursday when we could be sizzling towards 70 here with a few showers mostly in the afternoon and windy and colder weather on friday. the sun comes back out. saturday looking good, showers will be here on sunday. maybe we'll be all done by the time we get to the pats game at 1:00 in the afternoon. that's it for now, chris. >> thanks, barry. there may be a new way to predict getting skin cancer. if you count more than 11 moles on your right arm, take a look at that. the theory is a lot of moles in your arm correlates to a lot of them across your body. people with more than 100 moles on their body have a greater chance of developing melanoma, cancer. also on the healthwatch, doctors are take a zero tolerance approach when it comes to pregnant women and alcohol. even a drop is too much.

child endangerment and was released on $250 bail. boston university police are looking through surveillance to find a suspect after a female student says she was sexually assaulted in her dorm room. as many as 30 people left homeless by a fire in chinatown last night starting in a building on harrison. it houses a public housing, storage and restaurant. the superintendent of the mashpee school district could be facing criminal charges for breaking into a student's home. brian hyde was trying to see if the student actually lived in mashpee, but the police chief says the actions can be considered breaking and entering and has applied for a criminal charge. a court magistrate will decide whether there is enough

governor baker joined fire officials and families of the fallen firefighters at the statehouse last night. 24 names will be added to the ring of honor after their families chose to have them honored this year. a young woman from walpole received a life-changing gift. wbz first introduced you to hillary cohen last week as she prepared for her first steps on a new leg. here's bree with a look at the big moment. bree? >> reporter: heather abbott lost her leg in the bombing and made headlines when she received a one of a kind prosthetic that allowed her to wear high heels. that is expensive and not covered by insurance. abbott set up a foundation to pay it forward. 26-year-old hillary cohen is the first recipient. hillary amputated her leg after tumors were left growing on her leg and foot.
