we have rain showing up on doppler radar, too. this is right along the south coast and even the south shore getting a few sprinkles as well as on the cape. local looks to the south and you can see, it's some steady showers pushing to the east at this time. an additional rain will develop from this afternoon to the early part of the evening lifting to the north and warmer air behind it. for today, keep the umbrella handy, but just in case. 58 degrees for the drive home. in just a few minutes, i'll have more details on the wormth for tomorrow. maybe 70 degree temperatures. then back to the 50s and cooler, crisper air on the way. robi? >> we've had at least four accidents this morning, all of them south of boston and many of them rollovers. let's take a live look over the expressway. one of the crashes is on the northbound side at quincy and adams street.

between adams street and savin hill. and the two right lanes at route 127 is backed up. then we had the earlier crash also a rollover in bridgewater 24 southbound at 106. the two right lanes are blocked with a backup to route 123. chris, kathryn? a new york city police officer is killed in the line of duty, shot in the head while pursuing a suspect. the suspect was taken to the hospital. >> bree is here with details >> reporter: good morning. 33-year-old randolph holder is the fourth police officer killed in new york within the last year. it started over a bike stolen at gunpoint near a pedestrian footbridge in manhattan's east harlem neighborhood. officer holder patrols the city's public housing development. holder confronted the suspect were fired. in the head.

a doctor now facing charges accused of taking a photo of a woman inside of a bathroom. it happened at umass medical school where the doctor is an associate professor. nicole, what is the student saying happened? >> reporter: well, we learned it happened on september 1st in an on-campus bathroom stall. we're told the woman caught the doctor in the act and confronted him. in the school video, dr. marcus cooper appears to be in his element. >> if you go from the nucleus. >> reporter: he is a worcester cardiologist and works as an assistant professor at umass medical school. he is accused of an odd crime, using his cell phone to take a photo of a 26-year-old female medical student. >> that's awful. >> reporter: the woman on the other side of the lens says she was in a bathroom stall. she tells police she caught the doctor in the act and he ran off.

according to the medical school, dr. cooper is now on paid leave. >> i think he should lose his job. he shouldn't be doing what he's doing. >> reporter: police seized his cell phone as the investigation continues. dr. cooper is expected back in court next month. we're live in worcester, nicole jacobs, wbz this morning. >> thank you very much. a beloved brookline teacher is getting his job back. larry chen was fired for swearing in front of a couple of students. the interim superintendent said mr. chen will return to work november 2nd. chen released a statement saying that he's excited to get back to work with his awesome students. a swastika was found in a boy's bathroom at curtis middle school.

hateful symbol was meant for any specific students. maura healey will not crack down on any online gaming sites like draftkings and fan duel. she will continue to look at fair play and disclosure of risk. hillary clinton has reclaimed her lead over bernie sanders. the wbur poll finds clinton leading sanders 38-34% with vice president joe biden at just 9%. that's if he decides to run. the poll was conducted and shows a marked improvement from clinton for last month's numbers. wisconsin congressman paul ryan says he will run for house speaker to replace outgoing speaker john boehner, but it's got to be on his terms. he says he will only run if he has endorsements from all of the republican groups including the freedom caucus, which drove

cruelty. it would not be available to the public but would give those in the industry a what i to make sure pets go to a responsible home. a campus on alert as police search for the man who sexually assaulted a student at bridgewater university. susie steimle is live with the latest on the investigation. susie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, kathryn. this is the second sexual assault reported on bridgewater state university's campus in as many months. we know last month a young woman reported being attacked inside of her dorm room. this week was different. a freshman student connected with a man she's never met before on a social media app called the kick. she agreed to meet that man on campus and that's where she said she was attacked. she was able to give police a description saying this was a white man looking older than

route 3 northbound looks very heavy. it's just about 6:18 right now. a man and his wife are safe on 495 north. they say that their love of nascar saved their lives. peter carroll and his wife were towing their camper when a tractor-trailer in front of them lost a tire. the tire came flying straight for them. they take the camper to nascar races all over the country and yesterday, he says that paid off. >> i watch what happens when the dies have a tire that fly at them and things are coming towards them. they never panic. they never turn the wrong way. they kind of keep the steady path through it and city what happens. >> the loose tire slammed into the camper, knocking it over, dragging the suv to a stop, but carroll and his wife were okay. a driver threatened

brian of detroiten faced a -- of dighton faced a judge yesterday. the victim told police the suspect brian art forced him to a stop, got out of his car and began swinging the hatchet. flabbergasted. you think this doesn't happen to me. i didn't know what to do. 911. >> the suspect brian art is facing assault charges. police haven't found the hatchet. ap in inp man is facing a laundry list of charges accused charges. police say he met with the undercover atp agent at the holiday inn in tewksbury and is other charges.

lot of sense and some don't. lee writes that women enjoy a so-called virtue advantage, that voters see them almost automatically as more honest but if an ethicallish shue crops --eth achal issue crops up, they are quick to knock them off. likable seems to matter more for a female candidate than a man. i understand their complaint that women are running to be ceo of the country yet we're still asking about their clothes, hair, voices, and now faces. that's a quote. things are changing. notice how carly fiorina rose in the polls after she scorched donald trump for his crude remarks about her appearance. we may still have our share of sexists and racists, but don't forget that our president's skin color didn't stop him from being elected twice. when lee points to martha

bashar assad traveled to putin. the two leaders discussed the military operations against frostists in syria. it's the first trip abroad since civil war broke out in his country in 2011. meanwhile, the u.s. and russian militaries are both fighting isis in syria and now an agreement on how to prevent friendly fire situations in the sky. it lays out safety protocols, radio communications and declines on how to discuss issues. the agreement does not include zones of cooperation or sharing of target information. after a series of setbacks in court, bill cosby is getting a new lawyer. cosby is replacing martin singer. he has been defending him in a lawsuit that claims cosby forced a woman to perform a sex act on him when she was just 15 years old. one entertainment web site claimed the attorney had been

losing knee mail clients -- female clients because of his association with cosby. susie steimle is live on campus with more on this investigation. susie? >> reporter: well, chris, unfortunately this is far from the first time we've heard of sexual assaults happening on this campus. there were multiple reported last year and how a little more than a month into the school year and hearing of a second one. this one is different because it has too do with social media. a freshman student says she was using the app called kick to connect with a stranger, a man that she's never met before and agreed to meet him in a parking garage. that's where she says she was attacked. kick, if you never heard of it, says it is a messaging act that does pride itself on privacy. this young woman did give a description to police.

done on the remains of bella bond. bella's mother rachelle bond and rachelle's boyfriend michael mccarthy have pleaded not guilty in the case. prosecutors say mccarthy killed the little boy and bond helped her dispose of her body and cover up the crime. prosecutors also said they have new evidence in the case. a quincy couple wanted by police in three states. investigators say they are a modern day bonnie and clyde. joe and jenny carrier, you see here, are wanted in three bank holdups over the past three weeks. the first taking place in ludlow, the second in florida and maryland, the couple is traveling in a buick suv believed to be stolen from the dealership where jenny worked until she called in sick in august and never came back. our "daily talker." we're talking about the mbta asking commuters to weigh in on scheduled improvements to subway cars. >> hey, robi.
