it is awfully foggy out there. pamela gardner is in for danielle niles. good morning. >> good morning. we have warm temperatures out there and a little bit of moisture. we have dense fog in a few spots. boston 54 degrees but the visibility very, very low in many spots, quarter of a mile or less in boston worcester also half a mile or less. falmouth reporting zero visibility. be careful, use those low beam headlights all morning as you head out. temperatures will be very warm today compared to yesterday. we get very windy, and because of that south wind, that's going to help to pump in warmer air. we get close to 70 degrees by the lunch hour. partly sunny skies rule the forecast. eventually, we get rain and thunderstorms, too. i'll have the hour by hour timing and how long we'll stay

this warm coming up in our seven-day. a high school student arrested and charmed with threatening to shoot up the school. he is undergoing a mental health evaluation. katie brace takes a closer look at the investigation. >> a little nerve-racking. >> this afternoon, parents received a notice that police arrested a student for threatening the school. >> nervous but you never know. >> reporter: on monday, a girl reported she was afraid her friend might do something violent and harm himself. over the past month the student had made comments and social media postings referencing past school shootings. this time, he said he would shoot up the school the next day. >> at this point, it was something critical that she actually thought was serious enough to report that could possibly happen. >> reporter: officers searched the boy's parents home. in one, technical gear, goth clothing, and fake weapons. they also found live

bullets. >> we don't believe at any danger. boy's life. >> reporter: the superintendent says since he was in custody, they waited for police to finish their investigation before notifying parents. this parent took it as a reminder to talk with his two teens. going. always keep your eyes open. always be aware of what's going on around you. >> reporter: the teen is undergoing a mental evaluation and faces three charges, murder. in methuen, katie brace, wbz news. new this morning, a rape allegation has been closed. an 18-year-old told police she was sexually assaulted after meeting a person on a social networking app. the university police say the student will not be charged.

tunnel system. officials say there is a widespread problem with cracked construction nuts. right now, crews are inspecting more than 100 of those nuts. they hold up the lights in the tunnels, which weigh at least 100 pounds. officials say the lights are not in danger of falling. it's unclear how much it will cost to replace them. orange line service is back on track after a woman was station. alert. she was taken to the hospital. no word on her condition. be warned, there are extra speed traps. the state police and mass d.o.t. are kicking off a campaign to get you to slow down. it's an effort to save lives after a work wears killed this summer in auburn. wbz was there as police pulled over dozens of drivers. >> the danger is to the toll

win chester native glenn dougherty. vice president joe bidep will not run for president saying he believes there wasn't enough time for him to stage a winning campaign. biden says it took him and his family this long to decide if they had the emotional ability to run. biden did not endorse any candidate during his announcement. a cheerleading coach is charged with raping a young girl he was coaching, and this morning, he's under arrest. 26-year-old nick johnson has already been fired from the job in west bridgewater. he ace facing charges of aggravated rape of a child, enticement of a minor and posing a child in a state of nudity.

teen is under arrest. the juvenile used a hatchet to destroy computers, plumbing wednesday morning. the office was so badly damaged that it remains closed. detectives are investigating whether it's linked to the word murderer being spray painted on the same building earlier in the month. the celebration is on for the new york mets. they swept the chicago cubs last night in advance of the world series for the first time since 2000. daniel murphy coming up big and hoperred for the sixth straight post-season game. murphy's named mvp of the series. as for the cubs, same old story, the championship drought will now reach 108 years. the mets' opponent is still to be determined. the blue jays beat the royals last night 7-1. the royals

other cities include washington d.c., new york, and chicago. youtube introduced an advertisement-free subscription service. youtube red will cost $9.99 a month. subscribers get to see everything on youtube but without the ads. you'll have the ability to see everything you want with a device for offline viewing. domino's pizza is rolling out hot new cars, literally the second largest u.s. pizza company has unveiled its pizza mobile equipped with an oven. the converted delivery cars can hold up to 80 pizzas with a temperature of 140 degrees. domino's is testing 100 vehicles and plan to bring the cars to 25 cities including boston. kathryn and brie? >> whoa, that's a lot of pizza in a car. >> i'm okay with that. >> the more pizza the better, hannah. >> that's true. even at 4:43 in the morning.

it is 4:52. welcome back. our top stories this morning. a 16-year-old methuen boy is under arrest, accused of making threats to shoot up his school. officers say they acted on a tip then searched the teenager's home. they say they found tactical gear, fake weapons, live ammunition and clothing. the teen is undergoing a mental health evaluation. he's due back in court next month. new problems in the big dig tunnel. officials say they are now

dealing with cracked construction nuts. crews are inspecting more than 100,000 nuts. they hold up lights in the tunnel which weigh at least 100 pounds each. officials say the lights are not in danger of falling. it's unclear how much it will cost to replace them. today, governor baker will meet with local law enforcement leaders to discuss the opioid legislation. the new studies show the drug problem is getting worse. they are still adding up last year's numbers but believe 1,256 people have died from overdoses in 2014. as for this year, numbers already show an increase over last year. governor baker proposed a plan to attack the drug abuse crisis going on, but it must be passed by the legislature. he's calling for doctors to limit pain medications they prescribe. the governor also wants medical professionals to have the power to commit patients for 72 hours

a hardwick father being held on $200,000 cash bail. randall lintz pleaded not guilty that he beat his 7-year- old son. jack remains in a long-term care facility. lintz will be back in court next month. the legacy of a young weymouth boy lives on thanks to a new addition at the town schools. this is the buddy bench. feel lonely. they sit on the bench and other students are encouraged to come over and ask them to play. the idea came about after colin that's when his mother found out that he had been a friend to those who were bullied. >> when colin passed, i wanted to do something in his memory that would honor him and was part of him and who he was. colin, that's who colin was. he'd be the first person to go to the buddy bench and say,
