papers out of lynn show the judge's handwritten order when jeffrey posted bail not to possess any dogs. yet we encountered this. [dogs barking ] >> is jason gentry definitely >> yes, he is. i see him all of the time out in the yard playing with the dogs and kids and stuff. they bark. >> reporter: neighbors wanted to remain anonymous. some in fear of gentry knowing he faces serious abuse charges, accused of killing dogs, hanging them, and leaving their bodies at a revere gas station. also running a kennel with what police call deplorable conditions in lynn. they raided it. when we brought it to the attention of salem's animal control officer, he paid a there.

police just reopened the jackson square t stop and are now looking for a suspect with the knife. police believe the suspect and victim did know each other. breaking news from the red sox tonight and it's great news. john farrell's cancer in remission. levan? >> reporter: this is just fantastic news like you said. john farrell underwent testing yesterday at mass general hospital. today he got the results. he found out his cancer is in remission. john farrell was diagnosed with stage one nonhodgkin's lymphoma on august 14th and completed his rounds of chemotherapy earlier this month. the 53-year-old was told he would return as red sox manager for the 2016 season provided he has a clean bill of health. thankfully, that is now the case. the red sox brass have sent out a release saying they are thrilled to hear that great news and john farrell has said

back to work and bringing another championship to boston. congrats. paula? >> levan reid, thank you so much. hopefully you've been outside today and enjoyed the 70s, built you probably also strong wind. changes for us. i was doing a story out on the was stunning. >> when the sun poked out it was beautiful. right now in boston it's 70 degrees. the wind is from the southwest, 13 miles per hour. gusting at times a little higher. once that wind shifts around to the west and northwest, we'll drag in the cooler air as we head through the evening hours. a couple of showers out there right now. yes, they are generally light and won't slow you doen all that much. right back down to boxford crossing 95 with a quick downthere. most of eastern massachusetts is dry.

all the way from truro back down towards well nate fleet and eastham. chance of a brief shower, yes. the south coast may get into steadier showers by 9:00, 10:00, and those leave the coastline after midnight. we drop back into the 40s overnight tonight, and tomorrow will be a bright and beautiful day, but only in the lower 50s. we'll talk about the weekend, david, in just a couple of minutesp. now, hillary clinton under fire and firing back as republicans question how she handled the terrorist attack in benghazi. the lawmakers on the committee say they want to find the truth. critics say they just want to hurt clinton's campaign. the attack on the consulate killed three people including again dougherty. liam martin is watching the testimony throughout the day. liam? >> reporter: clinton mentioned each of those four victims by name including glenn dougherty. she opened her testimony by saying the reason she agreed to appear again before the house

those four men. >> the attackers used diesel fuel to set the compound on fire. the safe room was anything but safe. >> reporter: secretary clinton emotionally described in detail at tack on september 11 -- the attack on september 11, 2012. >> they were heroic and did all they could do to try to save their colleagues' lives. >> reporter: the remainder of the six hours of testimony was bitterly political, the democrats charging that this committee amounts to a witch hunt, intended to derail clinton's campaign. >> the republicans are squandering millions of taxpayer dollars on this abuse of effort. >> we have learned nothing substantively new about what happened in benghazi. >> reporter: republican committee members railed against that accusation. they pressed clinton on why repeated requests for more

security at the consulate were ignored. >> he asked numerous times for extra protection. did he have your personal e- mail? >> he took those requests where they belonged, to the security professionals. >> reporter: clinton did again take responsibility for security failures and said she launched new efforts after the attack to batten down the facility. >> i thought more about what happened than all of you put together. >> reporter: this is the eighth congressional hearing into the attacks in benghazi. a new cnn poll believes 70% of americans now believe the congressional committee is intended to attack clinton. >> liam martin, thank you so much. take a look at this, a sign of how much anticipation there was for the hearing. look at all of the people trying to get a picture of hillary clinton. that was her just walking into the room. what impact will today's testimony have on the investigation and the pa in? a look at that coming up with the cbs evening news with scott pelley at 6:30.

paula? >> a suspicious fire may have been set. a fight broke out at a house on walnut street before the home went up in flames. crews put it out and now want to know if someone set it on purr. one firefighter is being treated for smoke inhalation. a brookline firefighter charged with attacking a man at a taco restaurant has now been fired. the board of selectmen voted last nature to terminate ward. ward attacked a homeless man because he believed the man was taking too long to place his order. he was not on duty at the time. coming up at 6:00, he's just 12 years old but has started his own business, a charity, and he's already earned a trip to the white house. the message this impressive boy is trying to spread. >> and doing trash talking on twitter. the tweet that caused the stir and then disappearedp. >> showing they have plenty of night in them, young cancer patients at children's hospital are strutting their stuff in a

maxwell giving the keynote address. teachers and education leaders. >> oftentimes people say i wish i had that good idea as if there are no more good ideas to be had. >> reporter: one of his best ideas came seven years ago. that's right, he was just 5 when max pell and his parent -- maxwell and his parents started "catching need." >> once i saw what i could do, i had to help. catching the joy promotes volunteerism and acts of kindness. >> reporter: especially by young people. the nonprofit has organized efforts to give blankets to people living in shelters and gifts to kids in hospitals. it has created a heart project in memory of martin richard, who was kill in the marathon bombings. maxwell's work even earned him a trip to the white house. that's him right there in the colorful pants. >> when we help people, we feel the joy of giving. kids have so much to give, and sometimes kids just need a vehicle to do it. everything adds up.

over 30 in hyannis and the wind will be more active. a couple of light showers in the outer cape. there are a few more, too, that are coming back through the merrimack valley. this isn't going to slow you down here through the evening commute. the south coast by the time we get to 8:30, 9:00, including bristol, plymouth county, the cape and islands may see a surge that fills back in. two downs chatham to nantucket and we're clearing skies out and the cooler air will start to filter in. behind the front, the wind shifts around. tomorrow, sunshine out in full force. really a beautiful fall day and it will be a little chilly with the winds 20 miles per hour. high pressure anchoring to our north on saturday. so we start with sunshine in the morning, but saturday afternoon, an onshore wind will bring in more moisture so i do anticipate low clouds filling in, in eastern massachusetts saturday afternoon.

it is going to be a dry day on saturday, so no weather-related issues. by sunday, here comes the front. the timing looks like it has sped up a little bit. a couple of rain showers can't be ruled out. not a washout by any means. anything that does come through should be pretty brief. the front comes through and gradually clearing comes in. after that, the second half of sunday. right around 40 in the suburbs. we'll be 45 to near 50 in the cape and island. a couple of spots gets in the mid to upper 30s. look at the highs around 20 degrees cooler. high of 50 in boston tomorrow. 52 in fitch. upper 40s in worcester. the weekend, we start off in the 50s on saturday. sun and coastal clouds, but we're up around 60 degrees on sunday. i think in the past, it's a pregame tailgating shower that comes through and most of the game should be dry. foliage tracker, by the way, we're past peak in northern new england. still talking about color

expanding across the cape and islands, the far south coast but a lot of peak areas here in southern new england right now. accuweather seven-day, so a good weekend for viewing it. it will be a lot of clouds and a lott couple of late day -- and a couple of late daybreaks. wednesday to thursday is the next time to wash across. the clouds will thicken up. it's probably going to be a soaking rain on thursday. we could use it. we're in a pretty big deficit. david, back to you. >> maybe get it out of the way before halloween. that would be good. we all know the patriots do not talk trash. >> the social media team forgot about that. so this treat appeared on the patriots account, a throwback thursday picture of the infamous symbol. that tweet has now been deleted. >> a smart little move. you see they delete the tweet but also know that people very quickly capture the image on
