welcome back. breaking news. hurricane patricia the strongest hurricane ever recorded. it's a category i storm. it's a very powerful system. patricia made land fall last night in mexico. there are reports of widespread flooding and landslides many they're bracing for 15 inches of rain in the next 24 hours as well as waves up to 30 feet up the coast. thanks for joining us. good morning, pamela.

>> good morning to you. this thing was a monster as it hit the coast. late for us. but 6:15 central time is when it hit the coast. 7:15 our time. the latest is a category i hurricane with an up date at 5:00 a.m. it's very disorganized though. a distinct eye but very sheered off here. moving north-northeast. expected to change by 11 a.m. this may happen sooner. still some heavy rain heading towards the gulf coast. 20s to the north and west. 29 degrees here in boston. it's a brisk, chilly, frosty start to the day.

now to a developing story. two middle school students are under arrest accused of threatening to shoot up their school. the police chief tells wbz the whole thing happened quick livment around 1:0 a student at the middle school contacted police to say that a friend told him don't come back to school monday. i'm going shoot the place up. the student who allegedly made the threat is just 14 years old and he told the tipster a 13- year-old that -- would be providing him the weapon. police arrested both of those students and found no weapons or ammunition in their homes. >> could he have actually completed his tasks? >> no. he didn't have the items he needed to. complete a shooght of the school. but we're just not going to

>> they are worried this incident may be a copy cat crime. on monday a 16-year-old high school student told the classmate he was planning a shooting. in that case police did find weapons and ammunition but no one was hurt. >> new this morning a teenage driver escapes from a crash that turned his truck into a fire ball. source tell wbz the driver wasn't hurt but was given a field sobriety test. no word on if that person will face criminal charges. police are searching for the man who attacked a woman walking her dog. she's sharing her story. the woman when wants to remain anonymous was walking her new pup pigeon roost just before 4:00 a.m. when is she got a weird feeling. she saw a mini van pull up on the cambridge summerville line. >> and i listened to my

shoot up their school. police say a student at the middle school called them after being warned by a friend to stay home on monday because there'd be a shooting. he was getting weapons from a 13-year-old classmate. it's the second threat this week. on monday a16-year-old high school student told a classmate he was planning a shooting. >> police are searching for a man who tried to abduct an 11- year-old girl in randolph. the middle school student says a man grabbed her arm when she got off the school bus. he wanted to talk to her. the man ran away. police have added patrol in the areas a precaution. the woman who was attacked add harvard university while she was walking her dog was telling her story about the assault. wbz's jim armstrong has more. >> reporter: like a lot of people who live in the quiet neighborhood the victim has a dog and her case it's a 5-month

bre. here's the latest satellite picture w. e don't have that pin wheel shape that we did have earlier that made land fall last night. as it continues to track to the north, northeast we'll continue seeing it sheered apart thanks to a very rugged terrain. it's a category i with max wind speeds of 75 miles an hour. moving north-northeast. a track on it. heading toward the southern tip of texas here. later today but by 11 a.m. we expect it to become a tropical storm and a tropical depression later on. 20s, 30s or 40s no. rain for us. a dry, dry forecast for you today. temperatures running below where we were this time yesterday. 12 degrees below in boston. 52 degrees that low temperature. the wind won't be as strong this afternoon.

update from the u.s. drought monitor. just updated thursday morning. here's the latest information. we're running 7.7 inches rain since all the way back to january 1st. this puts us in dry conditions with moderate drought conditions west and areas to the north there but everyone needing some rain. we won't get any specific showers until we get into sunday, maybe a better chance for widespread soaking rain toward the end of the sunday forecast. i'll she you. that boston right now 39 degrees. real feel 32. that's a windchill because of that breeze from the north at 10 miles an hour. temperatures in the 20s to north and west. 30s for boston to lawrence and then 40s on the cape and aims. a comfortable 47 degrees in chatham home ham. hour by hour temperatures remain 40s. clicking up to 60 degrees by 4:00 p.m. briefly. average high keep in mind should be 59 droaz.

being warned by a friend to stay home monday because there would be a shooting. the student who allegedly made the threat is just 14 years old and said he was getting lessons from a 13-year-old classmate. it's the second threat this week many on monday, a 16-year- old high school student told a classmate he was planning a shooting. >> police are searching for man who tried to abduct an 11-year- old girl in randolph. the man grabbed her arm when she got off the school bus and he wanted to talk to her. she took off running then the man ran away. they've added patrols in the area pumpkin as precaution. >> a woman attacked while out walking her dog at harvard university. talked to wbz kim armstrong about the man who tried to assault her and how she managed to get away. >> like a lot of people who live in the quiet neighborhood, the victim has a dog and in her case it's a 5-month old puppy.
