good morning. >> reporter: hey, good morning. so i was just saying that it's now. the clouds have actually helped us out a little bit. it's kept our temperature up just a little bit this morning. we are in the 40s right now and we are dry for now. although i am tracking a couple showers that will move in toward the middle and the end of the morning. 52 degrees for pre-game tailgating here. and a few showers, tracking east. there may be a brief sprinkle around at kick-off. but no soaking rain today. and there may be a couple late out. it will be breezy and mild with lower 60s. notice the temperatures too. 40s to 50s on in the cape and islands. a little bit of light rain pushing into worcester county. and a few downpours in new york

it moves into new england over the next several hours. watch what happens between now and late morning. by 2:00 p.m., just around kick- off, just after that, mostly sunshine. and through the remainder of the afternoon, we get clearing skies that come in from today. so yeah, a couple wet spots this morning. but overall, not a bad day. and looks like for any pre-game tailgate, a shower or two. and then it's out of here for game time. >> oh, yeah, no problem. thank you so much. hoping for the w today. a murder in hyde park. a man shot to death and police say a family member killed him. police dispatcher. niece. >> reporter: boston police remained on guard outside a hyde park home saturday night, the scene of a family shooting

earlier in the day. investigators telling wbz news a woman shot her own you think until the head. he later died. >> on arrival, we have a male in his 40s suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. it looks like it's clearly domes in -- clear domestic in nature. >> reporter: investigators looked for the suspect. early saturday even, she was arrested. she worked for boston police for nine years as a communications equipment operator before resigning in 2012. a source describing her as a problem employee. >> we consider her obviously armed and dangerous. >> reporter: before the arrest, police launched a state-wide just after the shooting, they cover indoors. >> my car in the driveway and i

saw police. and i few of them have guns in their hand. and we rushed inside. one of them yelled, stay inside. so we went inside and tried to stay safe. >> reporter: as of late last night, the name of the victim still has had been released but the victim is the uncle of the suspect who is now under arrest. the exact motive remains a mystery. in hyde park, wbz this morning. investigators are trying to figure out what caused a small plane to crash. the small single engine plane crashed into trees on the airport grounds. the pilot was the only person onboard. a construction worker nearby saw the plane go down. >> just saw a plane crash. looked like it was right above the trees and it went up a little bit and then spun over, like almost upside down and

we heard it like crash and bang. >> the victim has been identified as gary weller of putnam, connecticut. cambridge police are searching for two suspects this morning accused of stabbing a man friday night near a cemetery. police say the victim is was walking by north cambridge catholic cemetery just before 9:00 when the suspects tried to rob him. when he resisted, he was stabbed to the back. the victim wasn't able to get a good look at the suspects another than they were black men in dark clothing. had he was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. a marshfield mother is under arrest accused of driving cape. and her 6-year-old daughter was in the car at the time. police got word that the 35- year-old may have been driving drunk. minutes later, a car struck a bystanders helped get the 6- year-old out of the car. she suffered minor injuries. police were able to pull the

fire got out of hand. the pennsylvania mom who triggered an amber alert by driving her baby to boston is now speaking about her story. tiffany cherry was arrested when she arrived in massachusetts. cherry says she was doing what she thought was best for her son. >> i would do anything for my children. the get my son the best care, to get my son the best care. and i would -- children and to get my son the best care. and i would do the it again. everything in me told me, tiffany, go. get your baby to boston children's hospital. >> reporter: it all start when had tiffany was told by a nurse practitioner at an emergency clinic he was severely dehydrated and he must be admitted to an emergency room for further care. >> i wasn't comfortable with the standard of care my child was receiving. >> reporter: so she drove 4.5 hours to boston's children's hospital.

>> he was at boston children's hospital to have issues with his esophagus and low blood. the dehydration came from a nurse practitioner. >> reporter: she admits to being in the trouble with the law in the past but says the amber alert never should have been issued. >> the pennsylvania authorities jumped the gun. >> reporter: she posted bail last week but she no longer has custody of her children. she has suffered a devastating loss when her first child was stillborn and she says she's extra protective of her kids. >> it hurt. it hurt. >> reporter: fortunately, he is feeling better and is currently at boston children's hospital. saved my child's life. >> reporter: and now she just arms. >> i deserve them back. and they deserve me. they deserve their mommy. >> reporter: tiffany is due back in court on monday.

least later this afternoon in the lakes and mountains. to the north, 53 degrees after early morning showers becoming partly sunny and comfortable and temperatures for hiking you might be doing. doppler radar, we do have rain pushing through. the good news, it's going to dry up as things progress to the southeast and moving towards boston and for the big game. the few showers starting to push in to worcester but they're extremely light at this time. maybe a few sprinkles. that's all i experienced on my drive in this morning. heavier showers to the north and west of us. and as the whole line tracks to the east, it will fizzle out in our hour-by-hour forecast. at 9:00 a.m., still showers around the boston area but as things progress to the south and east, by 10:30, that line starts to fall apart. brief shower between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

welcome back. it is sunday, october 25th. pamela gardner is here with the forecast this morning. a little bit of rainout there. >> yep, just a few showers starting to push in to worcester county right now. and those showers will continue to push to the east at this time. bringing us the chance for a spotty shower or a sprinkle but another than that, most of the afternoon will actually be dry. we just have is to get through the next few hours. so here in worcester, extremely light rain. i would be surprised if a lot of this is even hitting the ground because dry air is in massachusetts. but more showers to the north and west of us. and heavier pockets of rain along the cold front. once the front moves in, it will trigger additional shower development. but 9:00 a.m., we will go through, you can see the showers fall apart. and we become partly sunny later today and we have plenty of dry opportunities by 1:00, the patriot's game, looks like

two but nothing we can't handle. 58 degrees by 1:00 on the way to the high of 60 degrees and a dry evening for you, 54 degrees. in just a bit, we will be live from the stadium with the full patriot's forecast. >> all right. thank you so much. right now, a quick check of our top stories. a former boston police dispatcher has been arrested for murder. police say the 36-year-old evon lewis shot had her you think until the head in hyde park. the man later died. she worked for boston police for nine years before resigning. investigators are still looking for a motive in this case. investigators are also trying to figure out what caused a small plane to crash just minutes after taking off from worcester airport. the pilot gary weller of connecticut was killed. he was the only person onboard. a marshfield mother is under arrest accused of driving drunk and crashing her car on the cape. her 6-year-old daughter was in the car at the time. the car slammed into a pole on

route 28 and caught fire. bystanders were able to pull the child to safety. and police rescued her mom, a 35-year-old. a driver who had only had her license for a month slammed into a medford business. the suv plowed into the hockey store yesterday morning. police say the 44-year-old driver was alone in the car. no word on her condition. and inspectors say the building is safe and is not in danger of collapsing. calls for kindness and peace in the memory of a young marathon bombing victim. bridgewater state university has launched the peace flag project. people from all over have been designing flags to hang at the university in honor of martin richard who was killed in the marathon bombing. martin's parents both attended bridgewater state. a toddler is among the four people killed when an accused drunk driver plowed into a

we have more on this tragedy. >> reporter: victims were treated in the middle of main street after a car plowed into a parked police motorcycle and then crashed into a crowd of spectators at a high rate of speed a few blocks from campus. >> we can hear a little screaming and sounded like a vehicle acceleratorring and luckily this car hit a big pole. >> reporter: at least four people were killed. dozens more were injured. some victims were air lifted to city. >> the oklahoma state homecoming parade is probably one of the most wholesome, happy events in the country. and to have it viled like this terrible tragedies. >> reporter: a 45-year-old resident is in jail -- a 25- year-old resident is in jail charged with driving under the the influence. >> we treat these as we would with any homicide investigation.

it will probably take several days to get additional information. >> reporter: the homecoming game was played as scheduled with stadium flags at half staff and a moment of silence in honor of the victims. cbs news. in another news now, -- in other news now, two the teenage boys are under arrest this morning accused of plotting to kill their classmates. investigators say they were planning to call in a bomb threat at their virginia high school and then shoot people as they evacuated. a school resource officer was tipped off about the violent plans and arrested a 17-year- old student earlier this month. the investigations then led to the arrest of a 15-year-old student on friday. both are now charged with conspiracy to commit murder. >> police investigation did reveal that the youths had access to firearms. >> the students are now being held without bond. and a tennessee state university, police are still searching for whoever shot and killed a 19-year-old man during a fight on campus.

three students were hurt in the shooting but all are now home from the hospital. the victim was not a student. parts of texas are being pounded by rain today from what is left of hurricane patricia. the downpours are expected to last all morning and already roads are flooded. a train has derailed from the tracks. still to come on wbz this morning, it's the not even halloween but in one town, christmas. it's coming a little early. the little boy that has the whole community celebrating the holiday two months early. first though, in sport, the offensive weapon the patriots will be pulling out today. another live look at the stadium. we will be back with the game

just about 5:47 now. a middle school student in virginia could face assault and battery charges after tossing a baby carrot at her teacher. her mom says the 14-year-old has been out of school for a month after launching the vegetable in the hallway. it hit the teacher in the forehead. her mom says it was all a joke but not everyone saw it that way. >> i don't understand the whole thing. she was playing. yes, it happened. they would have called and said, oh, she's in trouble. she got a couple days in school, maybe even a day or two out of school but this has gone beyond that. we've got court. she's charged, not small charges. assault and battery with a weapon. >> the school has declined to comment about the carrot case. it is just about 5:48 now.

just cloudy by the time we get to midday and for kick-off, maybe just a brief sprinkle left over. so we're talking about breaks in sunshine that come out late in the day as the cold front comes in. we get a drying wind behind it. and notice that by h -- by, 4 :00, 5:00, partial clearing. a few showers for tailgating and 58 for kick-off. otherwise, breezy and mild. and lower 60s this afternoon. so turning into an above average day. how does it look for the rest of the week? >> it's looking good. a dry start to the work week. but for now, temperatures are really, really mild. in the 50s and 40s depending on where you are here. we have the clouds overnight trapping some of the day the time heating and therefore running warmer in all locations compared to this time yesterday. yesterday it was a frosty start to your morning. and not the case for today.

boston, 11 degrees warmer compared to yesterday. hour-by-hour forecast, up to 57 degrees by 10:00. 61 degrees by 2:00. and after noon, 2:00, that's when we expect the rain to move out of the boston area. what little shower chance we have. highs in the low to mid-60s. upper 50s to the north and west here. but a beautiful day all around. and warmer than normal. average highs should be 59 degrees this time of the year. just a touch above it. overnight, partial clearing, lows dipping into the upper 30s and some lower 30s expected in the northwestern parts of new england. the seven-day forecast will keep us dry once we get the rainout of here by this afternoon. monday, 53 and sunshine. 55 degrees, more sunshine for tuesday. and not bad, a gradual warm-up. wednesday 58. and rain chances. and we could see some widespread soaking rain which we really, really need. hopefully we get it and it doesn't ruin any plans you might have.
