live from the channel 4 studios in boston, wbz news at 11:00 starts right now. breaking news here at 11:00 o'clock, police investigating a threat against pembro community middle school, the superintendent saying a student reportedly made threats of violence against the school over the weekend. >> that student is not in school, the school is not taking any disciplinary action, at least not yet. school officials are working closely with police and the families involved. also at 11:00, a couple dubbed the modern bonnie and clyde have been captured. they're wanted in several bank coast. >> kate has the latest.

bank, and since police believe they hit at least five banks until a delaware state trooper spotted their stolen car today. >> reporter: traffic was stopped for miles as police surrounded a car moments after a high speed chase came to an end. inside the car, this couple, joseph and jenny, wanted for bank robberies all long the east coast, busted in philadelphia after robbing a bank in delaware monday, the chase spilling into pennsylvania. >> i don't know, they became a different person, i don't know what happened to them. >> reporter: barbara lived next door to the carriers, and can't understand how this could happen. she says the couple was just like everyone else. >> did they seem normal? >> no! nothing! nothing, they lived like everybody else. >> reporter: but police say they're not like everything else, instead accused of

robbing banks with their seven small dogs in tow, and eluding police for weeks. at the house they share with their family on 6th avenue, the man inside refused to speak to us, and yelled for us to leave the property but the next door neighbor said the family was worried sharing their aunt's concern how it would all finally come to an end. >> she didn't want anybody hurt, she was afraid someone would get hurt, which is a concern. no one wants to get hurt. >> reporter: police say the car they were found in is the same one believed to be stolen from a local does he recall ship. can be dealership. -- dealership. police say they were robbing banks to feed a drug habit. and police are investigating what caused a woman's deadly collision with a cement truck this morning. the 31-year-old woman was killed. two little byes in her car

badly hurt. an 8 month old on life support, and the 2-year-old in the hospital. and tonight we're hearing from a woman behind the counter that scared off a would be robber. she clearly wasn't afraid to stand up to him. >> reporter: the woman behind the counter is actually the owner of the store, and she told us she's heard unfortunately about a lot of other armed robberies in the town, her store on her watch though? no way. >> reporter: in a way you kind of wish you could meet this guy, the suspect who tried to rob dawn late sunday night to know what went through his mind. >> and he had a little knife about that big, and i said to him i kind of laughed at him. >> reporter: first of all his three inches compared to dawns. >> so, yeah, it was really small. >> reporter: let's just say she wasn't impressed.

>> he kept saying give me the money, and i just looked at him like did he really just come in here to take my money, and i said more. >> reporter: well she good a bit more than -- did a bit more than that, and you can watch it all. >> he did a double take, but i took the head and poked it towards him. he thought he could rob employee? not me. he ran -- me? not me. ran out the door. >> reporter: not a dollar or pack of gum or anything, except perhaps a lesson. don't mess with dawn. >> i have a daughter in college, a son that's almost there. not cheap. we work for a living. kills ourselves. -- killing ourselves. not for you to come take our money. get a job. work. simple as that. >> reporter: as you could tell from the video, the suspect's face was mostly hidden, so dawn didn't get a good look at him except that he's a white man, about five-ten, and took off on foot.

all right, thanks. see you then. developing now. police searching for a driver in a deadly hit and run. police believe they've surround the car. julie has the latest. >> reporter: yes, police saying they have the car they believe is involved, won't say where they recovered it, but they can't find the driver. they believe he or she likely hit a man crossing route 1 last night before taking off. nearly 24 hours after a deadly hit and run, state police say they believe they have the vehicle involved in the crash, but have yet to make any arrests. police say a 33-year-old new york man left hooters sunday night on foot, and investigators believe he was returning to a nearby hotel when he was struck by a red car trying to cross busy route 1. the driver of the car took off. the victim later died at an

his name hasn't been released. investigators tell us tonight they are waiting to process that vehicle, and believe the evidence they will recover inside will eventually lead them to the driver. the nfl not giving up the fight in deflate gate, and they filed a new brief in the appeal using close to 60 pages arguing that the collective bargaining agreement gave roger goodell the right to hold up brady's suspension. the player's association must file their response by december 7th. the case won't be heard by the way until after the regular season ends. bacon, red meat, and hot dog, guilty pleasures or carcinogens as dangerous as cigarettes. well the world health organization says it's that bad but not everyone agrees.

this massive explosion at her home was doing home repairs just before it happened. she made it out safely. the 52-year-old. attempting to repair her gas water heater at the time. she removed avalve, allow -- a valve allowing gas to build into the home. >> just a simple light switch is capable of ignites gas. >> once that happens, you know, you have a heavy fast-moving fire. >> they're using this incident as a reminder that hiring a licensed contractor can avoid big problem, especially when dealing with gas. more than 260 people dead after a powerful earthquake hit afghanistan and pakistan, and that death toll could rise. the quake caused a massive land slide seen here in a mountainous area near the afghan pakistan border.

look at the month of october, wettest day in boston, just a little over a quarter inch of rain fall, the whole month two and a half inches in the hole. much like september. dry all the way to the end, and then a storm is last week of send, and now a -- september, and now a substantial the last week of october, so -- storm the last week of october. clouds thicken up. few showers in the afternoon, the heavier rain is coming in overnight, great news for us. you fall asleep, pouring rain, wake up in the morning, rain starts to move out, and dry out during the day thursday. hopefully that louers the impact of the event for us overall. we'll watch the wednesday evening commute and thursday morning drive. those could be extra wet. if we're lucky the rain comes in after the commute. we'll update that tomorrow, but it's looking pretty good. widespread one to two inches of rain. local totals up to three inches not out of the question. not going to cause any river flooding.
