we're talking wind and rain for your morning commute. danielle, couldn't even see on the way in to work at some point. >> this is a look at mobile 4. visibility was not great, and then you have the wind on top of it. quite a commute in, danielle. >> absolutely. the road spray kicking up, reduced visibility, you guys nailed it. absolutely, live doppler shows the rain has let up in the city of boston for the time being. we have the heaviest rain south of boston. this is where we're seeing torrential downpours coming through from fall river stretching back up to dighton, middleborough and back up along route 3, too. 44 included in that, halifax, plymouth pouring right now back down towards carver and marshfield as well. there's a little light to moderate rain to foxboro. waltham, medford right now and

showers pushing off towards cape ann. we also have heavy rain that is extending along the north side of 495 and back up along 95 hampton and rye, new hampshire as well. so where do we go from here? the heaviest rain will be over the next couple of hours. there will likely be leftover downpours in the cape and island and embedded showers as well. the sun comes up and we come out to 70 to 75 degrees with a passing shower from a cold front coming from the west. your planner comes this way. upper 60s to start the day. the wind out of the south, 15 to 25 miles per hour, gusting higher than that, a stray shower will be isolated as we

look at this 39 miles per hour. some of the heaviest downpours may see gusts at 25 miles per hour. i want to pull in pamela gardner and we'll break down the story in a few. we begin with a developing story this morning. a stabbing near two boston bars. police are investigating the violence near the bellingham tavern and the point bar. two people were injured. one was taken to mass general with a slash wound. a second person was taken to a different hospital, but both are expected to recover. >> also, this morning, a pedestrian hit by a car and left with serious injuries. the driver stopped. police are investigating. a bomb threat on board a plane at logan airport. an uxbridge man will be charged in this case. this morning, police say 55-

he had a bomb in his bag. the flight was delayed about 50 minutes. it did make it to its destination and campbell will be arraigned in court this morning. and owen la brie faces up to 11 years in prison. the 21-year-old was convicted of assault charges at a boarding school. his lawyers say he has been punished enough. he will have to register as a sex offender for life. the power shift on capitol hill is nearly complete. paul ryan is set to officially become house speaker today. house republicans nominated the wisconsin congressman yesterday and a confirmation vote is scheduled for today. some of ryan's fellow republicans took the stage last night for the third presidential debate and the republican field is in boulder, colorado. bree? >> reporter: good morning, chris. the chattiest of the ten candidates were on stage out to

[ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: the gop seemed unhappy with cnbc's questions and moderators. they limited it to two hours after carson and trump both insisted they would not participate if the debate was any longer. jeb bush heads to new hampshire today. the former florida governor will campaign in portsmouth and new london. hillary clinton will spend a second day in new hampshire as well campaigning in events in berlin and littleton. attorneys for dzhokhar tsarnaev are asking for special for his appeal. his attorneys want to be able to review documents with him without that information being turned over to the prosecution. it is an exception the judge made while tsarnaev was awaiting trial. normally, prisoners like tsarnaev are under extra department.

lost part of his leg in a shark attack is back in boston and ready to start treatment. the attack happened in hawaii, and as julie loncich reports, he can't wait to head back there and start surfing again. >> still in shock that this is what's happening. i looked down and thought, where's my leg? >> out of inwhere, a huge shark just slams me and pulls -- out of nowhere, a huge shark just slams me and pulls me under. >> reporter: he worked to hawaii years ago and surfed the waters nearly every day. this encounter was unlike any other shark tale. >> the shark was, you know, still on me, all over me, just being relentless. usually most sharks swim away after they hit something. this shark would not go away. >> reporter: colin fought, punched, and battled with the 13 foot tiger shark for several terrifying minutes.

from just the wind, the gusty wind and rain, about 3,000 people. >> yeah. almost 4,000 people. almost 1,000 people right in boston. >> you guys, those numbers will go up before they go back down because the wind will be strong. we're tracking areas of heavy rain south of boston right now. there was just a flash flood warning issued minutes ago for the national weather service for the city of fall river. we've seen this in past times where we have the low lying areas. it's one of the typical spots that tends to flood. the flash load warning is up until 7:30 this morning because the areas have received a large amount of rain in a short period of time. some of the deeper arranges and yellows that you see on the map, that's rainfall coming down at a rate of 1 to 2 inches an hour. you notice the downpours extending back along the coast. so these areas back through tiverton, rhode island, will see 2 to 3 inches in a quick period of time.

that's why the water and drains can't keep up with it. never drive through the flood walters. the heaviest downpours extend from bridgewater back up along plymouth. quincy seeing lighter rainfall. in the city of boston, we had our heaviest rain come over the last couple of hours. temporarily. just a lone shower through andover and light showers that lifted north of 495 extending back through southern maine. where do we go from here? the next couple of hours, there are still pockets of heavy rain into the cape and islands. everybody else, we're doing all right. there will still be pockets of rain, but the heaviest rain is done. it's southeastern massachusetts. notice by 10:30, still pockets of light rain. temperatures come into the 70s as the sun breaks out. as we clear the skies out, late in the day, we get a passing

that's a cold front that comes in by 6:00 p.m. temperatures in the mid-60s and clearing skies come in after that. temperatures fall through the 50s. the wind is another aspect of the storm. it's been gusty out there with pamela gardner standing by with where we go from here. good morning. >> good morning. the current gusts are strong from the south and the wind is a factor as you head out. i know i hydroplaned a couple of times even though i was going so slow on the rain. the wind helped to push your vehicle making it difficult out there. wind gusts between 20, 30 miles per hour or even 30 to 40 miles per hour in some spots. hyannis 35 miles per hour. the wind will still be strong all the way through 10:00 a.m. the wind advisory in effect with gusts up to 50 miles per hour all along the eastern coastline and even the south coast. coastal flood advisory just issued, too. this goes into effect 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

coinciding with the astronomical high tide. the wind will push things over with minor coastal flooding. thankfully the wind and rain will slowly subside in time for right, danielle? >> i know we're all looking football. pregame tailgating, temperatures are up around 70. possible. don't think you need a poncho or anything like that because evening, anything that does come through comes through weaker. it will be from the west- southwest 10 to 18 miles per hour clearing and cooling. so expect lower 50s by the end of the game. overnight tonight, 40 in norwood. some of the coolest suburbs around 40 degrees. high temperatures tomorrow, mid to upper 50s. mostly sunny skies to end our week here. trick or treating is going to be just fine. mid-50s on sunday. an isolated shower can't be

ruled out on sunday but we'll be back up around 60 and then a warming trend for the beginning and middle part of the week. >> thank you. an investigation is under way to figure out what caused an unmanned military blimp to go on a wild ride. >> the blimp broke free, floated for hours and knocked out power to tens of thousands of people. bree's back now with where the blimp is now. >> reporter: so far the army isn't sure how its surveillance blimp broke free, but they are guarding the secrets that came down north of harrisburg, pennsylvania. two f-16s were scrambled to chase that blimp that the military says houses state-of- the-art radar systems designed to track the skies for incoming cruz missiles. earlier this year, army officials told cbs news the tether was designed to with stand hurricane force winds. >> no, no, there is absolutely
