we begin with breaking news right now at noon, and evacuation at a lexington elementary school. good afternoon, thank you for being with us. i'm kathryn hauser. >> and then chris mckinnon. first off we know all students at the school are say. this is happening at estabrook elementary where a large bangs her this morning. louisa muller is live with the latest for us this afternoon. >> reporter: you can see buses lined up behind me. we are here at the lexington high school field house where kids will soon be dismissed. but we are not talking about high schoolers, we're talking bout elementary school students because of students and staff were bustier this morning after a bizarre bang was heard i estabrook elementary. an email from the school system said that a bang was heard from underground the school out around 9:00 this morning and some people reported feeling the building shake. the fire alarm went off in the building was evacuated.

called on the scene, and here. the blessing and all of this, everyone was unaccounted for certainly a scary situation for any kid or parent. >> we heard a big sound, like, there was a swing master showing us a stuff about birds. and we suddenly heard a boom and then on the fire drill went out. >> if you hear a lot of noise in your basement you get the kit immediately out. seems like they are doing all they can to keep kids safe. >> of course i think our wonder and we think of the you know, i'm just thrilled that everyone is safe and everything hopefully will be okay. thing here. thrilled that everybody is minutes occur and nobody knows exactly what's going on, that is what is so scary. now, we still don't know from police exactly what is going

>> yeah, and it feels like spring out there right now. walking around in shorts and t- shirts. >> i said you have to get outside. right after the show, head out and enjoy it. it feels more like mid- september. temperatures are running the lower 70s. 71 in boston and the dewpoint is in the lower 60s, little monkey, and that southwest breeze is still active, 18 miles per hour right now. across the board, 73 nashua, same in lawrence, 72 in taunton, upper 60s in falmouth and lower 60s on the cape. we have a couple of downpours isolated, north side of pepper 10 stretching back to pittsburgh, a couple of brief downpours coming in, that's the cold front back across new york state will continue to approach and eventually across the region and coolest enter the evening. it's an isolated risk of a shower, most of us won't see any more wet weather through the remainder of the day. it's a low risk at that. lower 70s through the evening

into the 60s and eventually 50s after about 9:00 tonight with clearing skies coming in. you guys, it is almost friday as well as the big in japan, temperatures falling from the 60s to around 68 kickoff and 50s by the time we get to the end of the game. more details on the weekend, halloween, trick-or-treating, all that good stuff in 10 minutes. new at noon, a wild ride in worcester. police investigating a bizarre accident. hydrant and several parked cars and then took off. that man was arrested just a few blocks away. after he went off the road, through a fence and into a yard, hitting a tree. neighbors say the men got out of the car and looked at all the damage. >> you got out of his truck, he looked at the tree and his truck and went, literally like this, and then he talked to the man with gray hair and got back in his truck.

also tossed whiskey bottles out of his truck. he has been taken to the hospital with minor injuries. right now a passenger is charged for his comments while on a plane about to take off from logan airport. he says it was meant to be a joke the police are laughing about it. wbz's susie steimle is live in east boston with the latest. >> reporter: that's the moral of the story here. don't say bomb on an airplane. it may sound like a joke, and, dennis campbell, the defendant, insists that it was. but the judges taking this very seriously. dennis campbell boarded united airlines flight 439 from boston to chicago wednesday night and after the wrong word. who, you know, worst-case scenario, unfortunately used airplane. unfortunate that common sense >> reporter: employer will argue he was making light of the heavily packed overhead bins, telling the flight attendant, when we land, that bad could come flying out of there like a bomb. but, that word is all anyone on

board needed to hear to call police. campbell was arrested because he didn't have a bomb, he's been charged with making a false bomb threat. >> be very, very clear, he had absolutely zero intentions of doing anything wrong. >> reporter: the defense tried to plead with the judge to be realistic, saying that the case would not be indicted. the judge did not take kindly to that saying this is a serious offense and ordered campbell to stay away from all flights until the case is closed. you saw dennis campbell walking out of court in the video because he did post his $250 cash bail. he has been ordered a way to stay away from airports, cannot fly or leave the state until the case has been resolved. reporting live, back to you guys in the studio. >> thank you very much. we also want to tell you about breaking is happening right now. here's is a look from sky eye, sullivan middle school in lowell has been evacuated because of a carbon monoxide leak.

students are outside of the building. there are a number of fire trucks and emergency vehicles out front of the building. again, this is sullivan middle school in lowell. an evacuation underway because of a carbon monoxide leaks. we will continue to keep tabs on the situation and keep you updated. an update to a story we told you about this morning, a somerville man due in court charged in a stabbing at a historic boston bar. bell in hand. according to police, edward cobb ran into his ex- girlfriend's ex-boyfriend when he took out a knife and slashed the other man. cobb was injured by both men are expected to be okay. a pedestrian hit by a car in west bridgewater has died. police say the 24-year-old man was crossing north main street around 8:30 when he was hit. the driver did stop at the scene. officers believe weather may have played a role in the accident. this afternoon a judge will sentence that new hampshire prep student convicted with a

sexual assault of younger classmate. owen labrie faces up to 11 years in prison. the 21-year-old was cleared of rape charges but convicted on five counts in the assault of st. paul's school. labrie's lawyers say he's been punished enough and should get probation. he will have to register as a sex offender for life. now at noon, the house of representatives has a new speaker. moments ago, paul ryan was sworn in as the new speaker. ryan was welcomed down the aisle and then stood with on hand for today's vote, ryan's 2012 running mate, mitt romney. turning to campaign 2016, ryan's fellow republicans debate last night. white house hopefuls went face to face, but this time around and fewer sparks. >> reporter: all eyes were on ben carson during last night's front-runner. but, there weren't many fireworks.

today an investigation is underway to figure out how this unmanned military blimp broke free and floated away for 100 miles. the 240 foot helium filled ship came off of its mooring in aberdeen, maryland yesterday afternoon. it floated four hours, knocking down power to tens of thousands of people before coming down in a wooded area 80 miles north of harrisburg, pennsylvania. >> we have identified two sites where the wreckage is. there is the main body at one site and several hundred meters away, it is the tail section. from what i understand, most of the wreckage is intact. >> the blimp house state-of-the- art radar to track incoming missiles. all of that technology has been secured, but officials say it could take up to a week to

fully remove the blimp because most of it is in the trees. boston city council is getting a pay raise. counselor salaries will be increasing by $12,000. is the first race for the 13 member panel since 2006. the measure was submitted by made her mark -- was submitted by mayor marty walsh and give the mirror $24,000 raise. walsh said he won't accept the paper. we need to turn our attention to the weather this noon. what a difference in the last couple of hours. >> no kidding. we had a ton of rain this morning. >> 1 to 2 inches and a lot of spots in higher amounts, can through initial period of time, the wind, now the wind is down and it's 70 in boston. great for the game tonight. look at this shot of boston, you can see some color in the trees and skies have partially cleared out, sun shining as

well. rainfall totals were impressive, boylston picking up 2.4 inches, a lot of spots right around or over 2 inches. mill fold, foxboro, watertown 2 inches, now the rain has moved out, there are a couple of loan downpours, this is not from the rain this morning, it's from a friend from the west. fitchburg to lunenburg. south side of fitchburg. quick downpour coming to you in the next five minutes or so. otherwise, we are dry. the wind was impressive. that's what caused some of those scattered outages and limbs entries. warwick, rhode island got up to 63 miles per hour, the observatory, 60 miles per hour, some gusts up to 50 in fall river, and south coast. the wind right now is gusting over 20 miles per hour. so it's not damaging wind anymore but you will notice the breeze from the southwest driving in warm air. it has also piled up the water but the shift has -- wind has shifted around. nonetheless still have a coastal flood advisory at the shoreline until 3:00 p.m.

that coincides with high tide. look at these temperatures. one month are we in again? 71 in boston, 72 taunton, 73 nashua, concord, new hampshire, lawrence is at 73. it's warm out there and the skies have cleared out. back to the west you notice a couple of showers and downpours york. we may get a quick sprinkle. a lot of this may try to dry up as we move toward the north and chance of a shower, brief and early afternoon. notice behind the front we go from 71 in boston, 71 in dc, too, by the way, to 46 in buffalo, new york. that is the cooler air coming back into the mix by the time we get overnight tonight and tomorrow. passing shower, isolated at best, clearing skies tonight, bright sunshine tomorrow, looks beautiful. more normal with highs in the upper 50s for most of us. sunshine to start our weekend and then high, thin clouds moving, no weather-related issues for halloween. trick-or-treaters looking good, temperatures cool off to the 40s.

warm front approaches sunday, the leading edge of warmth that with it will come in clouds, a threat for a couple of showers, particularly inland but i think sunday for most of the day. breezy and mild that gillette stadium, kickoff, 60 degrees performing into the 50s, particularly as we head through the second half. overnight tonight 46 in boston, right around 40 in the cooler suburbs, the kids need a fall jacket tomorrow, sunrise coming up at 7:15. a couple of clouds by late in the day, temperatures running in the mid-50s and the son will be shining. middle to upper 50s for most of us during the day tomorrow, when from the northwest about 5 to 15 miles per hour, maybe stronger in the morning, near 60 in parts of the south shore, 55 to 60 on the cape. saturday night into sunday, don't forget to turn those clocks back and warming trend, up your 70 by wednesday. >> sounds good. we want to update ever be on breaking news we've been following. o'sullivan middle school in lowell has been evacuated because of a possible carbon
