were never political allies but tom menino, jr. tells me mayor walsh could thought have been more gracious toward him and the rest of the family over the past year certainly remember his warm eulogy at the funeral. he says, you know, it's his time now. just as it was tom menino's time when he took over for ray flynn. they understand that and there's a real friendship. >> real warmth they appreciate other. >> jon keller thank you very much. >> paula, john thank you. speaking of mayor walsh is trying to save a piece of tradition that tom menino camp beyonded talking about first night. an e-mail obtained by the web site universal hub shows the midnight fireworks are not part of the plans for the next first night. mayor walsh told the herald that he was surprised by this. and he's not happy about it. the mayor says he'll look to see what the city can do. the new year's celebration was already going to be a scaled down events without the fireworks.
