good morning, everyone. i'm yadires nova-salcedo. edition of "centro." more than 12 years ago, i got to interview a young man named danielle hernandez right here on "centro." he was just starting his career in the world of fashion. today, he is an international award-winning fashion designer who has transcended in the fashion industry with his unique sense of style to talk to us about his journey and most recent clothing collection, with us, once again is danielle hernandez. i am so happy. so happy to have you back, danielle.
7:32 am
>> hole la, yadires nova- salcedo. thank you for having me. >> more than 12 years ago you came here and you were just starting your career. danielle, a lot has happened with you. >> yes. i still cannot believe it's been that long, but yes, it's been a great decade. >> yes, yes. you went to school here in posten, and you also took some lessons in frons? >> correct. >> talk to us about you. >> so the reason behind that is i if eliminate that for someone to truly call hemselfs a designer, they should really understand how the whole high end fashion and design works. >> yes. >> so i decided to go take a few classes there because i wanted to experience really what it took. i was lucky because the program
7:33 am
so they took me to all of the different fashion houses in paris. it was one of the best experiences of my life. >> yes, yes. we're looking at some of the magazine covers. talk to us about that. how has that experience been? >> i think the first time you under a magazine cover, it's incredible because it's like, wow. >> yeah. >> it's great because you get recognized by different media. i really enjoy working. that's usually called an editorial. that's great because it shows your work in a lifestyle setup, you know, like a lot of times you see designers work but you are like, what do i do with that. >> exactly. >> so a lot of times what you do is you present your work and you do an editorial so it's
7:34 am
would use the clothing someone's sporting now. so i enjoy that type of work. >> talk to us about your latest collection. what can you tell us about it? we're looking at some pictures right now. >> okay. the last collection was interesting because it's still brand new. i call it the museum collection. i presented it at the lars anderson auto museum. i sort of wanted to reflect something museum related. >> yes. >> if that makes sense. >> so that inspired you? >> yeah, so all of the shapes that you see on the collections are based on timeless pieces like, for example, one of the most famous suits that have been made by a designer in his story is called the bar suit and it's by christian dior. you see shapes and cardigan jackets.
7:35 am
>> let's talk about the boots. >> so you decided they are boots? >> what are they? >> we still don't know if they are boots, sandals or sports gear. i used a lot of leather detail within the collection. since the collection is a little bit on the classic side, it's not super edgy. so i wanted to add an edge element to that collection. >> yes, yes. we're very happy because you're local, danielle. we're excited because we saw you when you are just starting the career. you are now a renowned fashion designer. we're proud of you for what you have accomplished so far. we can't just have you here and not ask you, though, what are the in colors right now? what would you recommend? a trend. i think that color should be based on skin tone. colors that look good on you in the summer are not going to look bad on you in the winter.
7:36 am
seasonal but not in a trend sense. >> okay. that's a good way to look at it. it makes sense, actually. >> it does. i studied a lot of color theory. so i mean, i think the fact that you have a melange of colors, things you wouldn't wear with plaids, solid colors, yellow with mesh. everything is thrown together. to me, the seasonal color to me in my collection is yellow. i am loving yellow with snake print. yellow does not look good on everybody, but if is a color that can really pop something. >> on the right people on the right tones. i want to thank so you much for coming by. again, congratulations. we're extremely excited to have you here. continue with the great success you've had. >> thank you for your support. it's pause of people like you that have believed in me all of these years. >> thank you, daniel.
