rain, this will be our only rain chance for a long time. we are starting off the month of november with very warm temperatures and also quite the dry stretch, after we get past today. live look at doppler, couple of showers, well to the north of boston here. all the way in to new hampshire. along the new hampshire coast, those showers are pushing to the north to the east. nothing too heavy showing up on radar, sprinkles around boston, down to the cape. showers trying to line up to the west of us, they are not going to hold together well, we keep the forecast mainly dry for you today. temperatures starting off in 45 wooster. we will continue throughout this afternoon, the early part of the evening, temperatures will be in the 50s, clouds dominating the forecast, after 2:00 p.m., the rain chance pretty much goes away and the becoming clear, and temperatures before it's said today.

warming up, still, mid-60s, upper 60s and 70s coming your way, another dry stretch as well in the seven-day forecast. we begin this morning with developing news the wreckage of the cargo ship that sailed in to the middle of a hurricane off the bahamas is believed to have been located. a navy ship using a side scanning sonar system located wreckage in the bermuda triangle. wayne joaquin. 36 people died on board. the 790-foot ship was located 15,000 feet below the water east of the bahamas. that's deeper than the water the titanic was discovered in. deep water device used to locate the wreckage was known as the o ryan. explore at a maximum depth of 20,000 feet and the ability to retrieve the ship's black box.

the o ryan began searching on october 19th. a sad and tragic accident on the roadway, takes a life of a medway teenager, 17 year old madlin lampson was driving through franklin when she lost control of her car and slammed in to a tree on friday night, jim smith reports, witnesses tried to put her out of the car but the flames drove them back. hit us all. >> reporter: shock and grief on a country road, a high school community grieving the loss, placing flowers and notes of remembrance at the foot of a scorched tree. a candle burns in memory of one of their own. madlin lampson, killed friday franklin. >> i woke up with the news my friend, i was at my friend's houses she got a phone call. i was happen asleep when i overheard what happened. we bursted in to tears. >> reporter: her friends knew her as maddie, a athlete, they

told me she dropped off a friend and on her way home when the crash happened. >> it wasn't real. i saw her yesterday. car yesterday. i know i have to remember her as the happy upbeat funny girl she was. >> reporter: the car burst in to flames when it hit the tree, rescuers and people living close by were unable to remove her from the vehicle because of the fire. despite what the chief called rescue attempts. sunday. >> i will come and pay my respects. very sad. >> as we mention, grief counselors will be on duty at the high school today. franklin police and the district attorneys office are looking in to the cause of the terrible crash. jim smith, wbz this morning the owner of a dog kennel has been

pick a pup says 3 dogs were stolen friday night. the back door was found open yesterday morning and two boxers and a yellow lab are now missing. the owner hopes if anyone sees the animals on any websites, they will notify hallston police. more than 20 people are staying with friends and relatives after a fire burned them out of their homes. a fire broke out on the third granite street. one young woman was reunited with her cat after the fire. a halloween tragedy in new york city, three people were killed, when an out of control car suddenly jumped the curb and plowed in to a group of trick or treaters and families in the bronx yesterday. a 65 year old man died at the scening scening as 24 year old man and a 10 year old girl died at the hospital. two girls and a 21 year old

woman were hospitalized. >> our family kids trick or treating, walking behind me. all of a sudden, a car, i heard the boom at the car literally like jumped over a parked car and flew in to the gate hitting a bunch of people. >> the 52 year old driver was injured and taken to the hospital. investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. no charges have yet been filed. the future of a south boston land mark is unclear, because of structural issues , the pastor of st. vincent depaul tells the herald he and archdiocese officials made the decision on monday top shut the church temporarily, chunks of plaster have been falling above the ceiling and it's not safe. the church was built in 1872. for now, masses at st. vincent will be held in south boston. there is more to come on

in your seven-day forecast. thank you so much. isis militants are claiming responsibility for a deadly plane crash, the russian metro plane went down in sinai yesterday, killing 224 people on board. among the victims, 25 children, the plane was headed to st. petersburg, the tragedy hits close to home to some in the boston area. that story from wbz's paul burton. >> reporter: news of the russian airliner crash quickly spread at a local russian and eastern european food mart. >> it is terrible. it's like shock. >> reporter: all people on board the plane were killed. >> i have heard that the rescue teams were hearing voices of victims coming down from wreckage.

degrees, by the tends of the month, the average high falls to 47 degrees. we have the meteor shower, peaks november 18th, 100 meteors per hour. add layers and plan on checking that out. hopefully good weather for it. snowfall on average, november 27th. we usually pick up a 10th of an inch of snow accumulation. no snow on the radar. to the north, well to the north of boston, light rainfalling along the new hampshire coast, our friends in port smith, all the way back to manchester, dealing with the light showers. the showers are pushing to the north and east, the rest of us, experiencing a few sprinkles. we have a few showers to the west, still, that will push through later today. not a wall of rain by any means we don't expect anything heavy. hit or miss showers throughout this afternoon, early part of this evening, we will be dry.

burst of sunshine, right before that, early sunset at 4:38 p.m., overnight clearing things out, we dry out, we stay dry from monday all the way through the end of the workweek as well. tons of sunshine monday. sustained wind speeds, nothing of concern, 5, 10 miles per hour from the south, southwest. as we get in to the heat of the afternoon, the winds will pick up from the south and southwest. occasional gusts pushing to 35 miles an hour mark, making it a little bit breezy, yes, but thankfully, it's going to push in warmer temperatures. we don't have far to go to get to the 60s. today with the southerly breeze, feeling almost spring like, with temperatures in the 50s, much of this afternoon, reaching the lower 60s. hour by hour for boston, noon, 59 degrees, we reach 60 degrees by 2:00 p.m.

from the south, southwest. that breeze keeping us warm. we will continue the warming trend. 60s and more 70s on the way. when those warm temperatures will arrive coming up later. checking our top stories today. later today, investigators will use a deep ocean vehicle to determine whether debris on the sea floor is the wreckage of the el faro , the ship disappeared october 1st, during hurricane joaquin with 33 crew members on board. a search team found something in 15,000 feet of water, east of the bahamas described as consistent with a ship the size of the el faro, sitting up right and in one piece. grief counsers on hand this afternoon to help classmates cope with the death of a 17 year old medway high school student. madlin was kill when her car struck a tree on lincoln street

home. there seemed not to be any home. >> there were items that did not belong, based on the yard work that was being done and that is why the police time. >> friends say they had a tumultuous relationship with their son and planning to cut him out of their will. death toll expected to rise after a fire inside a crowded nightclub, 27 people were killed, many were crushed to death in the stampede as many as 400 people were inside the club for a free concert. the blaze broke out when indoor fireworks ignited foam insulation. the tragedy is very similar to the station nightclub fire in west war wick, where 100 people died.

that fire, too, was sparked by foam insulation. the fire led to regulations regarding the use of indoor fireworks. pitcher brian johnson was carjacked at gun point. he was in cocoa beach, florida at the time, deputies y johnson was a passenger in the car, early yesterday morning rs when a man came up to the vehicle, outside a convenient store and flashed a gun. the carjacker fired one shot in to the ground, deputies used a chopper equipped a night vision camera to capture video of the chase. the suspect was arrested, johnson was not hurt. campaign 2016, now, two big endorsements for hilary clinton and her bid for the next president. the union and mayor of charlston, south carolina, announced their support for the former secretary of state, both endorsements came as clinton campaigned in south carolina. a key primary state. most of the republican

crews will be out this morning to try to determine whether wreckage found in the ocean floor could be the missing cargo ship. the ntsb says a navy ship using a side standing sonar system located wreckage in the bermuda triangle. el faro went down during hurricane joaquin. 33 people, including six with ties to new england died on board. what the navy says appears to be a 790-foot cargo ship was located 15,000 feet below the water east of the bahamas. that's deeper than the water the titanic was discovered in. the deep water device used to locate that wreckage is known as the orion, it can explore at a maximum depth of 20,000 feet, and it has the ability to retrieve the ship's black box. the orion began sing on october -- searching on october 19, a sad and tragic accident -- a sad and tragic accident. 17-year-old madeline lamson was driving through franklin when

it as current? >> that's the problem is, it's several years old. >> when you ran for governor, and then dcf commissioner was under fire for the botching of the oliver case, her agency's problem, you said if you were governor, you would, quote, find a graceful way to remove her. why are you so timid now? >> the first thing i said was what's your plan for fixing dcf? i took a lot of grief for saying that. it's harder to put the plan in place and execute on it than to just find a scalp. and in the case of her, weeks went by and turned into months and there was no man, and at that point, i said it's probably time for her to go. there was no leadership there. my view on this is we are doing the work that's required working with the social worker union and others to put in place the

policies and practice standards we can hold people accountable to. but i don't think it's fair to anybody, and by the way, easy way out to say you're gone, you're gone, because the agency's done a poor job at the top of putting in place the kinds of policies and procedures that should be there. so our focus is on putting those in place, and holding people accountable. >> i'm not getting it, sir. >> okay. >> if individuals are demonstrable incompetent, and violent procedure, basically cheat the system, and a child dies as a consequence of that, how can it be right to not hold them personally accountable. >> we will do some follow up on the oca report. we asked for the oca report, we wanted an independent third party to review the findings of the bond case, and we'll pursue the information that's contained in there. >> thanks for coming by.
