let's go to the map. the crash is in woober, just after 128. total traffic network says the center lane is blocked up there. seeing a stop and go backup already to commerce way. then the south, the worst there is columbia square. chris, kathryn? >> thank you, robi. 6:02 now. we begin with a developing story, a star high school football player in the hospital. >> he was stabbed hours after scoring a winning touchdown. let's get right to our susie steimle who is live in everett this morning. susie? >> reporter: chris, marvin fedna had already made headlines on saturday night. he scored the game-winning touchdown on halloween to beat st. john's prep and then went out to celebrate with some of his friends. all of this was overshadowed when she was stabbed on his way home. accordance to the boston

herald, it happened around 12:30 on broadway. and he heard somebody screaming for help and went to see if he could do something. then what he stabbed in the back and in the hand. he was taken to massachusetts general hospital. we know he underwent surgery yesterday and is expected to fully recover. tipped, friends and family are weight to hear if any arrests have been made so far. police say they don't have any suspects in mind. no other students were hurt that night. we're live in everett, susie steimle, back to you. >> thank you, susie. 6:03 now. a security guard at a rhode island college say he was the victim a bizarre attack. the providence journal reports that the johnson and wales university guard was in his car when he was flagged down by a shirtless man yesterday morning. the man punched the officer and yelled, "i hate cops." thomas woods of cambridge was arrested. he is not a student at the school. the guard is okay. 6:03 now. police in burlington want you

to take a good look at the surveillance video. they hope it will lead them to the vandals who spray painted graffiti on a mosque. nicole jacobs is live for us outside the mosque with more on the investigation. nicole, good morning. . >> reporter: good morning to you, kathryn. members here have already come and gone for the predawn prayer. you can see the vandalism right on the side of the building here. police say they are searching for three men who were wearing masks just hours after halloween. surveillance video shows them arriving. three vandals at the islamic center of burlington, running back and forth from a white crown victoria. the crime, all captured. >> but sunday afternoon, worship went on despite the red spray paint and eggs marking the building. >> my mother is coming, my daughter is coming and my wife is coming here. and to see people making racial comments.

>> reporter: the letters "usa" painted on sunday, the same graffiti discovered in 2013, over the center's sign. >> they wraps free trade of being caught in the cameras and stuff like this. these are concerns that they're stepping up the actions. >> reporter: inside the mosque was this member. >> we stayed inside. it wasn't safe outside. >> reporter: no one was hurt and the investigation continues. the center's leader points to the first amendment. freedom of religion. >> somebody doesn't know what the usa is about. they don't know what it is our founding members have done for us. >> reporter: burlington police have not said if the two incidents are related, the one from 2013 and the one from the weekend, but they do believe they will find the people responsible. anyone with information is urged to contact police. we're live in burlington, nicole jacobs, "wbz this morning." >> thank you, nicole. 6:05 now. a new york tabloid falsely identified him as a suspect in

the boston marathon bombedings. now the student plans to speak out about the xooerns. salah was 18 and living in revere when he was on the cover of the "new york post." he and his friend were never linked to the investigation. he sued the paper and the was secreted last year. he will discuss the case at his school on thursday. a massachusetts teenager has died in a crash near the campus of skidmore college in upstate new york. michael hedges was one of three students walking near campus when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver saturday night. the two other victims are in the hospital. a national day of mourning in russia for the 224 victims of a plane crash over egypt. this morning, a russian government plane brought home the bodies of 144 of those passengers. a second plane will arrive with more remains liar on today. investigators now say that plane broke up at high altitude before it crashed saturday morning.

experts say it's usually because of catastrophic weather, a midair collision or a threat like a bomb or a missile. the company that runs the airline rejected the possibility that the crash was caused by a technical problem. the black boxes are in good condition. over to campaign 2016 this morning. republican presidential candidates have set new rules for their debate. representatives for more than a dozen campaigns met behind closed doors last night. they've agreed to mandatory opening and closing statements and an equal number of questions for candidates. the changes come after many candidates complained about the moderators of last week's debate. as for the democrats, bernie sanders released his first tv ad, which documents his adjourn eyes to to washington. >> he prayed as one of america's best men.

they had great hitting, great base running and a few errors from the mets, helped as well. the duel was won by edison, who returned from his father's funeral in the dominican republic to throw only two hits in six innings. kansas city's streets flooded with loot and wine. it is the first win since 1985. it might have maybe made up for last year's loss to san francisco in game 7. must have felt like destiny to the royals, too, who consistently rallied from deficits this weekend. they were a week a -- a game away from being forced into game 6, but the bull pen limited the mets offense. they get the parade through downtown kansas city tomorrow. chris, back to you. >> thank you, bree. sticking with sports, controversy continues haunting the patriots.

chris and kathryn? a student was found guilty of sexual assault. >> owen le bree will serve one year in jail and register as a sex offender. the new hampshire union leader is reporting that the victim's family is considering legal action against the st. paul school. the family's attorney says the boarding school doesn't nothing to stop the tradition of the so- called senior salute, where graduating men have sex with younger female students. he calls it a game designed to encourage statutory rape. the ferry between maine and nova scotia is in legal trouble. the federal judge is seizing the nova star. the government in nova scotia says it won't do business with them anymore. many say it cost millions much dollars more in taken money than anticipated. excitement over the official opening of a new bridge in worcester yesterday. it took three years and 108 $108 million to build the ken burns memorial bridge.

he won the game -- he scored the game-winning touchdown against st. john's prep on saturday night and went out with teammates to celebrate halloween. he ended up recovering all weekend from stab wounds. he did have surgery yesterday and is expected to fully recover. according to the boston herald, this happened around 12:30 in the morning. he was walking on broadway street, home from a halloween party, when he heard someone screaming for help. he went to see if there was anything he could do and was stabbed in the hand and in the back. again, he was taken to massachusetts general hospital and is expected if fully recover. police don't have any suspects. no other students were hurt that night. we're live in everett, susie steimle, "wbz this morning." . >> thank you, susie. naval investigators are using special equipment to confirm that wreckage found in the bermuda triangle is from the cargo ship el faro. the navy is using a remote- controlled vehicle here to look

at the wreckage. the ship is upright. it sank sailing into hurricane joaquin as it battered the bahamas. investigators say the ship won't be recovered, but if human remains are found, they will attempt to recover them. the mother of a sailor from maine says finding the ship brings about mixed emotions. >> i equate it to a tug-of-war between my heard and my heart. i think my head wants answers, but my heart kind of likes not having answers because then i very emotional. like i said, it felt like hearing it for the first time, it felt like losing michael all over again. >> 33 crew members were killed aboard the ship. michael holland was one of six with ties to new england. police in burlington are hoping this surveillance video will help them track down some vandals who pointed graffiti on a mosque. nicole jacobs is live in burlington this morning with nicole? >> reporter: chris, i just spoke with the founder of this mosque just a short time ago. he says they received a lot of

offers from people in the community to help them clean up this graffiti that you still see on the side of the building right now. and red spray paint, "usa," he says thirst the third time the building has been targeted. it happened in the early- morning hours on sunday. three men arrived here in a white crown victoria. police believe they spent about 20 minutes in the area before spraying "usa" outside of the mosque and egging the building. the same mosque was vandalized most recently in 2013. >> somebody doesn't know what religion is. somebody doesn't know what usa is all about, what our founding fathers have done for us. >> reporter: taking another live look here at the islamic center of burlington, the graffiti still on the building at this hour. members arrives here a short

time ago for the predawn prayer. the founder says they're taking this in stride and praying for whoever is responsible. police want to find the culprits, as well. we're live in burlington, nicole jacobs, "wbz this morning." . a somber scene in medway. friends gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory a high school senior killed in a crash this weekend. hundreds of people filled the streets last night in a procession through the neighborhood where maddie lamson livd with her family. the 17-year-old died when the car she was driving hit a tree in franklin friday night. her field hockey coach said maddie was very special. >> one of the most remarkable women i have ever coached and my heart is broken that we've lost her so young and my team is devastated. >> counseling was provided at the high school saturday and sunday. franklin police and the da's office are investigating the cause of the crash. a funeral for maddie will be

held on thursday. this morning, a dog is at a brockton animal hospital recovering from multiple stab wounds. police are trying to find out who hurt the animal. the owner says the dog would occasionally get loose, but find its way home on essex street. this time, a neighbor knocked on her door, saying somebody stabbed the dog. she found him in the street bleeding. firefighters on the cape are trying to figure out what caused this raging boat fire yesterday morning on the 35- foot fishing boat named "good grief." neighbors reported hearing an explosion. the flames spread to another boat, destroying both. and police are warning parents to go through your kids' candy to see if they got a package that looked like this. police posted this picture of highlands cough syrup for kids. someone on halloween night left sample packages outside their home on old farm lane. a halloween scare in

>> a girl claims she found a razor blade inside a chocolate bar. police say to be cautious checking the candy. then it was determined that the girl made up the story. >> i hope that that child's parents or that child gets disciplined, maybe gets help, you know? that's just wrong. >> residents say this is an important reminder to always be vigilant when it comes to trick- or-treating. and in chicopee, police are investigating a needle found in candy given out near granby road on east street. call them if you find anything dangerous in your candy. 6:38 is the time on your monday morning. now to our daily talker. a high school football star, he scores a touchdown for his team and celebrates. >> but it got him kicked out of the game. here's robi with reaction this morning. >> the penalty was for excessive celebration. you get booted from the game.

but the high school player insists he wasn't praising himself, but god. pedro bandas scored for his team in arizona. he scores, the ref throws the penalty. he pointed up to the sky for a couple of second. he didn't see the ref throw the flag, but the call was made, excessive celebration, he was tossed for the game and now suspended for the team's first playoff game in 25 years. he insists he points to the sky after every score, but this is the first time he was flagged. he said my intentions were to praise god last night. i didn't think it would result in an ejess for be praising my lord and savior. he plays for the demons and was wearing a demons pride shirt while doing interviews. family will appeal the suspension saying they weren't aware of the rule at the time. a lot of people commenting on this story.
