>> we have breaking news in burlington. police say they found two men who vandalized a mosque and say this video is the key to solving the crime. bill is where they were arraigned. >> reporter: police say this started with a night of drinking and then it evolved into vandalism and now ending with felonies. >> they had been drinking, you know, it was halloween -- >> reporter: police say these are the vandals. campbell and demone. that they were the ones who defaced the islamic center. >> they were masked. they were in fear of targeting a house of worship. >> reporter: the two teenagers

spray painted u.s.a. all over the mosque. it was an alert detective who recognized the car in the video and the teenagers soon confessed. >> one of the officers saw the car and saw something particular on the vehicle ta raised his attention to it and -- that raised his attention to it and, so the detective went to that area and the vehicle was there. >> reporter: worshipers from the mosque say the vandalism was so hurtful because they too are americans. >> somebody who doesn't know what u.s.a. is about. they don't now what the founders must have done for us. >> reporter: they are facing felony charges of malicious destruction of property and tagging. they said nothing. police say there was actually a 30 person in the car but that third person has not been charged.
