ends up in a trick or treat bag. and today, police are asking trick or treaters to take a second look inside their candy bags. good afternoon, thank you for being here. >> the good news, no kids have gotten hurt or sick so far and nicole jacobs is live with more. what is the latest from police, nicole? >> this raised eyebrows, chris. one of the big questions that remains is was this out of malice or a mistake. it's never too late to take a second look, said hopkinton police, especially after this was discovered by two trick or treaters. it may have the looks of candy, but police determined it's a toilet bowl cleaner. >> toilet bowl cleaner in their halloween treat bag. >> reporter: police told wbz it was a six-year-old and 14-year- old in two separate incidents that found the toxic chemical cleaner. where they got it remains unknown. >> and generally, the area's mainstream and -- main street

off of main street. they were trick or treating in those areas. >> reporter: and now, even days removed from candy collecting, the chief doesn't want to unnecessarily alarm parents, lost. >> i know it's three days later, but still, you know, something might have slipped by, maybe the child threw something away and we want to be diligent. >> reporter: it was not disguised as candy. it was in its original bowl cleaner wrapper, the origin that is under investigation behind it. and that is one of the most important things police are investigating right now. whether or not this was a mistake or intentional, but the bottom line, they want everyone to take a second look at the halloween candy bags. live in hopkinton this about, z news. in hudson,ful -- hudson, new hampshire, another halloween scare. a parent claims there was a razor blade inside a child's trick or treat bag and police are investigating.

property and the grandkids were on the back porch watching and the wife was there and as soon as she heard the engines sputter, she took the kids to the house and heard him screaming. >> and he's expected to be okay and investigators are trying to determine what went wrong with the paraglider. a fight with two brothers ends with one in the hospital and the other in a standoff with police for hours. the victim was stabbed in the chest and is expected to survive. and the police was forced to shut down washington street in canton. the s.w.a.t. team was killed in and the police found him injured as well. he was arrested and taken to the hospital. and in dorchester, a 21- year-old man is gunned down. and his killer on the loose this noon. police are investigating the overnight murder. so far, police have not released suspect information. and a officer is on administrative leave and facing assault charges. four teenagers said they were

see here on sunday in norton and claim he said he was a police officer. when they questioned him, he pulled one of the types out of the car and began hitting him. he was not wearing a up -- uniform at the time and he said he was attacked. he is facing multiple charges, including assault and battery and carrying a firearm while under the influence. a brockton woman said a pile of scarfs stopped a stray bullet from hitting her. she was up late watching television in her bedroom early sunday morning and she heard a shot quickly check income on her fam -- checking in on her family and they were fine. hours later, she found a bullet on her second floor through one bedroom and into her room, stopping feet from her head. >> and -- and [ indiscernible ] [ indiscernible ] i would be house. to be here. >> and police think she was the

by shooting and there were multiple drive-by shootings in brockton over the weekend and no arrests were made. and we're one year,way from the 2016 presidential election and today, a new national poll shows republicans searching. >> and ben carson is taking the lead in the race and the poll puts carson in front of the republican field of 29%. and trump is in second place with 23% and marco rubio is in third with 11% and over on the democratic side, hillary clinton is surging ahead of bernie sanders coming in with 62%, double sanders ' 31% and harvard professor is ending his run for press. he launched a longshot campaign to win the white house but it never gaped support. and the focus for many is the race for president today is election day and more than 50 cities and towns are heading to the polls here in massachusetts. without a major state race

as you can see from the nearly empty polling station in austin and in boston, the city capitol streets are up for grabs and there are mayoral elections in two dozen cities, including waltham, weymouth, worcester quincy. the big question facing ohio voters is whether to legalize marijuana. and the result could impact one celebrity in particular. it could be a huge windfall for nick lachey. he owns a 29 marijuana farm outside of akron. and two teenagers arrested for vandalizing a burlington mosque. members of the islamic community want prosecutors to charge them with the hate crime. the police say they were drinking on halloween night when they spray painted usa on the burlington-islamic center. the security video of the incident led to their arrest. >> and that video that is out there, one of the officers was watching it and saw the car and saw something on the vehicle

and raised attention to it and he thought it could be a vehicle he knew from town. >> and a third person who stayed inside the car is not facing charges. >> and we to a star here on wbz, a teenager is suing the city of summerville for $1 million for wrongly accusing him of rain. galileo mondal was charged with raping freshmen boys at a soccer camp two years ago in april before jury selection. the prosecutors dropped the charges. he tells w about, z the past two years have been incredibly difficult and now he wants to clear his name. >> all three of the victims said i didn't do anything to them, specifically said that in the police reports and both of the -- my co-defendants at the time with no reason to defend me and i had no it's i had no brawl in the inis i dent. even one of the victims in the police report specifically said i was the only one who tried to anything. >> the mayor's office disputes

his complaints and calls his lawsuit unfounded. in other news, there is a local uber driver in trouble with the law. >> and this grandmother breaks the rules every time she gets the 63-year-old stephanie france started driving there summer in portsmouth, new hampshire, for uber and she's been summoned to court because uber is not approved to operate in the city. the officials are concerned about the background checks on the drivers but her day job is kids with developmental >> -- . >> i'm drug tested and the fingerprints registered with the state of new hampshire. criminal background, driving records, everything. i don't want to be a grandmother in jail. >> and uber vows to represent her at her court date and the company will pay her fines, which could read $1,000. the city of portsmouth doesn't receive our calls for comment. the changes coming to help drivers avoid accidents.

the police are investigating sandwich. the d.a. there tells us that there are no obvious signs of trauma. because of the age of the child, the state police and the chief medical examiner will conduct an investigation to determine how the baby died. also, more breaking news for you this noon. boston police investigating an armed carjacking in dorchester. sky eye is on the way to the dudley street. the victim tells police a black male approached the toyota sienna, showed a gun and took off in the vehicle. the police are searching for that green toyota sienna. a action was off of the field last night during monday night football as protestors rappeled down part of the stadium. and they unravelled a banner protesting bank of america's role in financing a liquefied natural gas export facility. the sign dangled there for a quarter of the game and if irhis to be called in to bring them down and four people were arrested.

>> and this noon, a joint crew from egypt is any russia is beginning to examine the brack box in the deadly crash of a russian game and a u.s. satellite detected a heat splash or egypt, the same time the plane went down and it's unclear what caused the crash. it could have been an explosion in the fuel tank or engine, but investigators have not ruled out a bomb. the airline, metro jet, denies pilot error or technical problem and that crash killed 224 people on board. the national transportation safety board is adding automatic breaking to the five- scar safety ratings, beginning in 2018. it uses sensors to warn of an imminent collision and engages to brakes automatically if the driver fails to stop. and it know carmakers agreed to make the technology standard but they have not said when that will begin. the amtrak train derailment that killed 8 people in philadelphia last year sparked

sunshine and end with sunshine into the day on thursday. the clouds are on the increase and not until thursday night and friday morning and a few showers develop. the warm air is pushing in and there is a cold front to the west and that doesn't arrive until friday night, early morning hours of saturday and may be a couple of showers with up. cooler air and overnight this morning. 49 degrees in boston. some of the cooler suburbs might go back to 40 degrees and we had a lot of 30s in the map this morning. and necessary tomorrow before school, sunrise at 6:21. and the short sleeves totally fine. cooler at the coast lines, mid- 60s inland and at the immediate shore with a sea breeze kicking in tomorrow, and we'll top out around 60 and the upper 50s. and most communities inland and into the 60s again. not as mild as today but above average.
