hurt in a trash has delivered a healthy baby boy. she underwent an emergency c- section two months before her due tate. >> you can see their car flips over. susie cycle is live with how the family is doing. mom and painy are okay, susie. chris. they are lucky to be. brittany not only had that emergency c-section but sustained a broken hip and broken ankle during this dramatic car crash. her husband dennis also dislocated his hip. once you see the video, you realize they are lucky it wasn't any worse. for brittany and her husband dennis, baby aden is christmas come early. their son born yesterday is almost two months premature via on emergency c-section. >> the baby is now doing well. a little help breathing but other than that, he's doing real well. >> reporter: new grandpa eric turner is happy mom, dad, and

they were inside this car that was struck from behind and went airborne that a pole money. >> looking at the video, it looks like there was somebody the way. >> reporter: brittany and her husband dennis happened to be on her way home from a doctor's appointment when the car hit them out of nowhere. the priority became quickly making sure the painy was okay after both were ejected. brittany's father joked being a new parent is hard enough without having to endure something like this. >> i told my son-in-law, this isn't how you do it. they got it done but not the conventional way. i'm happy everybody's doing good. baby aden will have to spend the next couple of weeks in the hospital since he's premature and his lungs are still developing. by all accounts, he's lucky to be doing as well as he is. as for the driver that hit the

couple, no charges have been filed. susie steimle, wbz this morning. police searching for a gunman. witnesses heard at least six shots. three construction workers were badly hurt on the job. the second floor wall collapsed yesterday afternoon. all three were seriously injured but they are expected to survive. new this morning, a rescue on the water in weymouth. we're told two people were in a boat that flipped over last night sending them into waters off fort point road. south shore hospital. their conditions have not been released. the danvers teen accused of raping and murdering his high school math teacher is expected

the big question is will he be competent to stand trial? nicole? >> reporter: chris, the judge in this case initially thought the trial would be wrapping up in a couple of weeks or so based on the initial time frame, but all of that has now changed. now that phillip chism's competency is in question, that is. we know that a mental health evaluation is now complete and results were submitted to the court yesterday completely under seal. just a few days into jury selection, chyz imbegan banging his head against walls and floors and being completely nonresponsive as he pa waits trial for the murder of his danvers high schoolteacher colleen ritzer. he is accused of raping and murdering ritzer in 2013.

take up this issue of competency, perhaps determining whether or not chism is competent to stand trial. perhaps we'll also learn how forward. we're live in salem, nicole jay cops, wbz this morning. today police in illinois will announce the death of one of their officers was, in fact, a suicide. you may remember the massive manhunt that followed the gliniewicz. the officer radioed in that he was chasing three suspects. after an extensive investigation, it was discovered he died of a inflicted gunshot wound. donald trump is planning to make an appearance at the secretary of state's office in concord this morning. the campaign will start running television ads. democrat martin o'malley will

also sign up for the new hampshire ballot and massachusetts elected new meetings. it was a shake-up and many important municipal elections. younger generations with two of the youngest. yancy was first elected to city council with the late mayor menino 30 years ago. last night, he lost to attorney andrea joy campbell who them. campbell received 61% of the vote in ward 4. remember jack lally in brockton? yesterday morning. the 18-year-old pulled off a win for an open seat on the brockton city council. he took almost 60% of the vote beating an opponent four

23-year-old city counselor sutter. he resigned as district attorney this past year in order to run for mayor. in ohio, voters defeated a measure that would have legalized both recreational and medical marijuana. nearly two-thirds of the voters voted against that measure. three kids gunning for trouble accused of throwing rocks and firing a bb gun at a group of homeless people. that's not the only reason for concern. an officer spotted three boys on a railroad bridge throwing rocks at the group of homeless people who were taken shelter underneath that bridge. one of the boys was also firing a bb gun. police say the gun looked almost identical to a real smith and wesson. >> it's unsafe for the officer and the kid carrying it, too.

a christmas miracle, actually because that's when baby aden was due, december 25th. remarkably, mom, dad and baby are doing well. so happy to report good news about how they are doing after this dramatic crash. once you see the video, you'll see why this car came up behind them as they were leaving the hospital and instruction brittany and her husband dennis' vehicle from behind forcing them several feet into the air flipping the car over and having it hit a pole. both she and her husband were ejected from the vehicle. of course their first priority was to make sure that the painy was okay. she was able to deliver aden two months early. her father says it looks laic a drag race. >> it does look like he was

a judge is set to decide whether chyz imis set to stand -- chism is set to stand trial. there were reports of banging his head against walls and floors prompting a halt in the case in terms of the jury selection process. we do know that chism underwent a mental evaluation. those results are in but remain morning. chism is accused of rape and murder in his high school math teacher colleen ritzer. although the judge initially said that the trial would be over before thanksgiving, which is in a couple of weeks, that has all changed now due to this competency question. the judge takes that all up today. we could learn if chism is
