you, chris, it was all sparked by this traffic stop, police say and driver of that suv allegedly making an attempt to run. sunday evening in mattapan this is the wreckage left behind. two suv's mangled after the scene. >> i was a little bit scared. >> reporter: boston police say the driver was speeding, going about 70 miles per hour on blue hill avenue when they stopped the vehicle at stratton street, police say the driver appeared to make an attempt to run, that is when the two officers took action. >> the driver put the car in gear, the officers tried to stop him. took off with the two officers inside the car hanging out from the car. >> reporter: dragging them roughly one hundred yards, not coming to a stop until hitting this parked silver suv. anybody that was on the sidewalk could have been definitely seriously injured. >> reporter: as were the two

and and back and shoulder officer for the other. both officers were we are told are expected to be okay. their injuries were non-life threatening, nichole jacobs wbz this morning. it is 60:49 right now, boston leaders announcing a new plan to keep fake handguns off so see. >> reporter: we are in front of the 12th baptist church in roxbury where the ordinance will be signed by the mayor around 9:30, as soon as it is signed it should take effect and that means officers can be con if i skate guns from people as soon as 9:30 this morning, anyone in a public place with a fake gun can expect to have that confiscated by police unless it has an orange or red tip that is a federal lehman dated thing that fake guns have to have an orange or red tip.

and hooded sweatshirt, no one was hurt. a big ninonsment from the state's top medical colleges, the globe reports harvard tops u mass, medical schools will train students. the initiative was proposed by governor baker. new this morning, a road closed right now following a serious crash. a road appears -- a car rather appears to have taken out a telephone pole. it's closed as crews repair the damage, no word on any injuries. and road work is getting under way on a dangerous stretch of route 20 in oxford, crews will begin safety improvements this week, last month a mother and her infant were killed on this dangerous curve near the charleston line, crews are installing a guard rail to prevent head-on crashes. a major redesign and reconstruction of route 20 are planned for 2025.

well this was the scene yesterday on the groan line. commuters this morning hoping for a smoother ride. a disabled train yesterday forced passengers out of the subway. hundreds had to evacuate and take shuttle busses between arlington stations, the process was confusing and very crowded. >> they were spending all of this time on winner resilience, the actual trains that run every day aren't running correctly. >> so far this morning everything is back to normal. protests over race and discrimination coming to a head at the university of missouri today, athletes and angry students are calling for the school's president to step down, bree is here with more. >> these students are not backing down, one is so serious he says he has been on a hunger strike for a week and willing to die if the president does not step down. more than 30 african american football players are hitting

from the state police bare ricks, you can see the police crews trying to pull the pickup truck out of the river, brian arcand and rebeck is a smith died at the hospital. they are investigating speed as a factor. >> all i heard was a horn going off and then i heard the impact and i look over and i see that that piece of bridge over there just kind of crumpled, one piece solid into the water and tail lyings of the truck went over. >> two women in another car that was side wiped were not hurt in the accident. kathryn back to you. 6:34 is the time on monday, saturday police are searching for the cause of a deadly crash on route 24 in stoughton, it happened early yesterday morning, a passenger was ' joked from a crash and hit by several other car. a woman is in the hospital

after she was hit by a car on dorchester, on adams street near dorchester street. women in dorchester are on alert following three incidents, police are trying to figure out if the incidents are connect the, in two of these cases a man exposed him to self. women describe the suspect as hispanic in his 20s or 30s. and curry college student is due in courted to accused of having a weapon in his dorm room, a search turned up a gun action ammo and drugs in the room belonging to darius boodoosingh. the 18-year-old is from boston and held by milton police. boston's mayor will announce a new plan to keep fake handguns off our street. morning, susie. >> reporter: as of 9:30 this

beened in the city of boston, 9:30 is when the mayor is signing this ordinance and it will take effect immediately after. it is expected to bring awareness to how dangerous fake guns can be, police say it's difficult for them to tell the difference unless they have an orange or red tip, if it does have an orange and red tip it is okay and may not be confiscated by police officers, this coming to light one year after a 12-year-old boy in cleveland, ohio was gunned down by police officers and fatally injured. he was waiving what turned out to be a fake weapon at that time. now if you are over the age of 18 and your fake gun is confiscated, you will have to go to a local police station to pick it up. again that signing ceremony scheduled to take place in rox
