through this ramshackled motel here back on october 17th. today, as you mentioned, prosecutors filed charges again the teen victim's mother and that mother's poi friend. when the high school senior died last month, everything pointed to an overdose. today that was confirmed. >> the cause of death was due to acute fentanyl intoxication. >> investigators believe her death was accidental, but that didn't stop them from charging her mother jasmine with reckless conduct and endangering the welfare of a child in her own daughter's death. >> the fact that it is the mother of the victim makes it even more disturbing to me. >> reporter: police didn't stop there. they also charged mom's boyfriend with full phiing evidence in his effort to conceal that he provided the

life sentence. both mom and her boyfriend were at the motel when eve died. >> the focus has to do with the drug abuse and death. >> reporter: eve is rochester's eighth fatality this year. police are clearly taking aim on those they believe knowingly contributed to it. >> this epidemic really has no boundaries. >> reporter: late this afternoon, police charged a third person in eve's death, aim long time family friend. police say all three were present when eve died. arraignments for the trio, by the way, start tomorrow morning. rochester new hampshire, ken macleod. an investigation is under way right now after a body washed ashore on the beach. bill shields is live with the new information. bill? >> reporter: david, you know, a construction crew found this body. if you are a part of that crew, can you imagine building the

steam crew and you look out towards the water and see what appears to be a body. right now, police are still trying to identify that body. >> yeah, i mean, we were working over here and just when i went to get stones from the loader, i looked down the beach and i think the tide brought it in. >> reporter: a construction crew found the body roushed up it he very end of duxbury beach in an area. from what they could tell, the body had been in the water for some time. >> it was just something on the beach like a halloween decoration or something like that. it looked like a scare crow on the porch or something like that. it was bloated and looked fake. >> reporter: the workers called police who would only say that the death appeared suspicious. >> alongside of these rocks over here. >> reporter: the workers said from what they could tale the body was a male, but because it had been in the ocean for at least several weeks, they

>> i turned around and called 911 because it's definitely human. it was a male. he was fully dressed but just a setten, that's all. >> reporter: and unless police have found identification on the body, obviously it's going to take some time to identify it because of the length of the decomposition. bill shields, wbz news. back to you guys. >> thanks, bill. two men are on trial for the murder of an army veteran. he was killed while a friend was apparently making a drug deal. the suspects jesse williams and eugene tate were buying drugs and he was afraid of getting robbed. former new hampshire police officer is spending 21 days in jail nor assaulting a suspect on surveillance video. former seabrook officer mark richardson was sentenced this afternoon. last month, he pleaded guilty to slamming a drunk driving suspect into the wall of the seabrook police station.

the assault happened in 2009, but this video didn't surface until years later. we have a developing story in the battle between state standardized tests. the education commissioner has now made his pick. paula ebben is here with more on that. paula? >> reporter: david, mitchell chester says he supports the next generation version of the mcas, which adds elements of the park test and that it should be computer based. this has been dubbed mcas 2.0. supporters say it does a good job of measuring kids compared to their national counterparts, but in its current form, it's outdated. supporters have argued that the test does a better job measuring a student's critical thinking skills. a state commission says both tests are equal when it comes to predicting how well a student will do in college. so that is the commissioner's choice. the state board of education is set to vote on which tests they choose next tuesday. lisa some. >> all right, paula.

thank you. tonight, the show of solidarity. hundreds of boston college students joining students around the country protesting racial injustice and supporting students and faculty at the university of missouri. here is a live look right now at a rally that's under way in philadelphia. students from drexel university, penn and temple gathering in protest there. students kept today's rally peaceful, but their message was powerful. racism on campus won't be tolerated. we have they're story. >> i am a revolutionary. >> i am a revolutionary. >> reporter: the protests are echoing on the east coast. on monday, both the president and chancellor of university of missouri stepped down after students vigorously protested racially-charged events on campus. by thursday -- boston college was walking to a similar beat. joining a handful of other colleges in the commonwealth

with rallies of solidarity. >> i stand here today for my cousin. i stand her today for my friends on bc who feel they don't belong here. >> reporter: more than 200 students dress symbolically in black. >> he told us to go back to our country and if we didn't like it here that we needed to go. >> reporter: mizzou is not such a far cry from the heights. >> last year, i witnessed a first year student walk through the mall and a guy said, hey, come to our party, rosa parks. ." >> reporter: it wasn't just about racism but creating a culture where it's comfortable to talk about race. professor mcduffy says that means encouragement from the bc administration. >> it starts with listening to the students and making sure that the student experiences are validated, that they are seen as truthful and as a way to have actionable change.

in west roxbury today, more than a dozen people were arrested for holding up pipeline construction. they are opposed to it, as it will create a natural gas pipeline from dedham to west roxbury. american forces are helping kurdish troops take on isis in northern iraq. u.s. air strikes allowed the kurds to cut off a major supply line for the extremist group. this really sets the stage for the kurds to seize control of one of isis' strong holds in the city. stunning video from tuesday's plane crash in akron, ohio, is giving investigators a better idea of what went wrong here. we'll give you a closer look of surveillance video which shows the plane trim the tree line then crash and then a huge fireball. investigators now know that the

altitude and actualing to the left -- and tilting to the left. this blast pancaked a second floor down off to the first floor and then blasts everything else into the air. one person was killed, several others injured. this is something you don't want to see in the air. a passenger spotted. this is fuel leaking from the plane. this happened on his flight to dallas fort worth. you can see it coming right out of a loose gas cap. the pilot says the passengers, lisa, were never in dank earl. >> david, thank you. wow, a lot of anticipation surrounding this weekend's pats/giants matchup. the giants, of course, stealing two super bowls from tom brady and the rest of the team. steve, how are they getting ready? >> reporter: lisa, they have so

wrong spot, leaving those women unprotected and eventually with unwanted pregnancies. the fda did pull the pills in 2011, but it was too late. class action attorneys say this happens more often than you might think. >> regrettably, the mislabeling of pharmaceuticals where one vial or pill is in place of another has happened repetitively over the years. >> reporter: in this case, the women are seeking millions in damages for the pain, suffering and lost wages. in massachusetts, a 24-year-old woman now has a child she did not plan. state law would allow her to child rearing expenses. the subsidiary of the pharmaceutical said today safety is its top priority. in oregon where one of the women lives, the costs of child rearing could include college tuition. david, lisa? >> that's going to be one big

after that, we'll see a change. the clouds start to break up a little bit and the wind will pick up more out of the west. temperature-wise, we're still rising right now. the warm front is passing us by. turns to 50 in boston. actually, our temperatures won't drop at all tonight. we'll stay well up into the 40s. moving across again through midnight and as we head through the later stages of the evening, there will be breaks in the overcast as is the sunshine tomorrow morning. the clouds tend to fill back in during the day tomorrow. and through the afternoon and evening, a couple of pop-up showers mainly into worcester county and higher elevations as well as the berkshires and vermont. starting to transition over to snowflakes tomorrow afternoon and evening. especially in and around the national forest. more clearing takes place as we head in. tomorrow morning, partly sunny skies. sunrise is at 6:32. winds picking up out of the west-southwest.

wind is the main impact of the storm. building clouds by midday. we're in the 50s but winds out of the west at 15 to 30-plus miles per hour. as we head into the evening, a few showers popping up again. the higher terrain. temperatures mild for this time of year, but the winds won't make it feel too pleasant. worcester topping out at 52 degrees. all of the temps are 5 degrees above average. the main impact is the wind. we've seen gusts higher across the great lakes. as the system moves north and east, it's that tight pressure gradients that keeps the winds up for us. that's the case friday and into saturday. so if you want an excuse to not have to go outside and rake, the wind is your excuse. gusting well over 25 on saturday. the wind starts to come down a little on sunday. it will still be breezy. some of the gusts up to 20 on sunday afternoon. there is a wind advisory out on nantucket where it's late

today i got a look inside of the brigham and women's hospital and the bio repository had more than 3.5 million human specimens are stored. toenail clippings from nearly 100,000 people and ponytail ships from hundreds of ladies along with blood and urine samples. hair and toenails can store information about a patient for up to a year. one researcher is using them to measure stress hormones. >> we know that chronic stress may be an important factor in the development of many chronic diseases. so we're interested in measuring stress hormones that reflect long exposure to stress to better understand how stress affects development of disease such as cancer or heart disease. >> now, ponytail and toenail samples are still being collected as part of this long- term nurse's health study. you probably heard me talk many times about it.

this is bad news for all of us party people. last call may not be getting later after all. the sponsor of a bill that would allow bars to stay open past 2:00 a.m. now says the timing isn't right. he says cities and towns need more time to study the effects. the statehouse news is told the bill is too broad and could allow some bars to stay open later. sorry, lisa, you can't stay out until 2:00, 3:00 in the morning.

air bnb is raising eyebrows in neighborhoods. we saw some neighborhoods overrun over the summer. as lauren leamanczyk tells us tonight, air bnb is now making changes. >> reporter: the deals can be enticing on air bnb. rooms in historic neighborhoods for a fraction of a hotel croft. >> reporter: they have seen communities like charlestown overwhelmed. >> it's been growing so much in downtown boston. the worst case scenario is a person rents it out and never stays there. goes to ikea, dresses up the apartment and rents it out on almost a daily basis. >> reporter: the i-team found that's what happened right here. 1618 battery street in the north end. one tenant took this one outside of the unit that even listed a checkout time. >> when you have an apartment
