and tonight, police hit them with felony charges. as expected, the 17-year-old died of a drug overdose, fentanyl specifically likely cut into heroin. today, police pin some plame on folks close to her. investigators believe the accident death was accidental but they are charging her mother with endangering the welfare of a child in her daughter's death. >> the fact that it is the mother of the victim makes it even more disturbing to me. >> reporter: police have also charged mom's boyfriend mark ross with falsifying evidence and witness tampering to conceal that he provided eve with the deadly dose. family friend less a abberly faces the same charge, which sentence. we asked prosecutors about published reports that mom was pushing eve into a life of drugs and prostitution.

>> it was just something on a beach like a halloween decoration or something like that. it looks like you put a scare crow on the porch like that and filled the belly full of extra. it looked just fake. >> reporter: a construction crew found the body washed up at the end of duxbury beach. from what they could tell, the body had been in the water for some time. >> we were working over here and when i went to get stones from the loader, i looked down brought it in. >> reporter: the workers called the death appeared suspicious. >> on the other side of the rocks over here. >> reporter: the crew stopped working and called 911. police arrived but said little. now we know it's that of a 19- year-old man from malden. the workers said from what they could tell, the body had been in the ocean for weeks. >> i turned around and said you have to call 911. it's definitely human.

he's fully dressed, but it's just a skeleton, that's all. >> reporter: the police right now will only say they do not believe foul play was involved. i'm bill shields, wbz news. david? breaking news out of lebanon tonight. isis claiming responsibility for two bombings in beirut which killed at least 43 people. if true, this would be the fist time isis has shown any activity in lebanon. also also threatened an attack on russia. praise for two boston police officers who saved a veteran from taking his own life. >> yesterday, the veteran threatened to kill himself with a hatchet on an mbta bus. that weapon.

beth? >> reporter: sometimes, it's just knowing the right thing say. on veterans day yesterday, these officers offered a veteran sympathy both in the right place here at the right time. the mbta bus was in trouble when the driver pulled off at a dorchester intersection saying a man on board was armed with a hatchet. captain hussein had to confront him. >> he has the hatchet against his neck and he's scratching his neck with the hatchet saying i know where my jugular vein is, i know how to do this. >> reporter: behind the desperate act? the veteran officer heard a desperate story. >> he was kicked out of the shelter, no place to stay, no reason to live. >> reporter: he sized up the situation on the bus and was joined by a fellow officer who knew the power of the right words. >> he engaged him quickly. are you a veteran? the guy says yes. officer golden says, well, thank you for your service.

the hatchet down. >> reporter: they had deescalated a difficult situation that started when the man first got on board and his weapon. according to police, the man threatened the bus driver with the hatchet, prompting him to help. the driver told passengers he would open the back door and they should make a run for it. >> he's like this guy will hurt me or himself so he was very police officer standing there. >> reporter: the captain who has worked these streets to are 27 years is credited with calm, quick thinking. he's giving the credit to his part. >> sometimes it's just knowing the right words? >> those were magic words. he did a great job. >> reporter: captain hussein hopes the veteran gets the help that he needs and facing potential charges, he admits he hopes the courts will go easy on him. reporting live from dorchester, i'm beth germano, wbz news. david, paula? >> thank you so much.

how could you not like bread and cheese? >> burton doesn't like it, either. he's too nice say it. it is tomato soup and grilled cheese weather. temperatures at the dew point teens there's mist in the area. now through the 50s in southeastern massachusetts. it looks very much like a winter temperature map. the colder air tends to get locked into the areas. we're watching the big area centered around lake superior. we're looking at a few rain showers that are rotating around eastward. this is the line that we're tracking adds we head through the evening. just starting to approach the capital district in new york. we've got the spotty showers and drizzle right now. that will have a few rounds of showers up around midnight. all told, not a cold night at all by november standards.

gale is spinning moves north of us on friday. it keeps us in the windy zone for friday and saturday. the wind advisory is up through nantucket through late tomorrow morning lou early saturday morning, some of the gusts are 40 to 50 with several power outages with the last nor'easter. could see a repeat of that. friday is our windiest day. saturday is our second windiest gusting over 25. sunday is still breezy. brighter skies, partly sunny on saturday and high pressure is building in for sunday. that will bring us even more sun. we'll have less wind. here's the accuweather seven- day. to upper 40s. you factor in the winds. sunday would be your pick. lower 50s, a little less wind and then a great week shaping up for monday, tuesday, wednesday, milder temperatures and snow is nowhere to be found in that forecast. david, paula, over to you. david. >> eric, everything's changed.

by the fifth quarter post game show on my tv 38. over to hockey, there is a good chance dennis siden will make his season debut tonight. he has been out for seven weeks after undergoing back surgery. so it's also a game time decision with an undisclosed injury. switching gears, david ortiz paid a victim to mass general for children this afternoon. he spoke with kids and took pictures and his charitable fund donated $100,000 to the hospital. >> through the years, i see kids in so much pain going into surgery or coming out of surgery. it's just like forget about the pain for a day, you know what i'm saying? that's very important to me. i this i all of us as an athlete, we should take some time and come visit. >> reporter: you can catch more of david ortiz on cbsboston.com.
