we have breaking news at 11:00, police on alert in france, boston and all over the world after attacks in paris. >> we have learned all the attackers are believed to be dead, but not before at least 150 people were killed. tonight a state of emergency is in effect in france and the country has closed its borders. all residents urged to stay indoors. >> 118 people were killed in one location, a packed concert hall. gunmen started firing, then took handles there before -- hostages there before police stormed the venue. and a suicide bomb was set off,

stopping soccer players inside the stadium. more than 80,000 people, including the french president were watching the game. jim armstrong has breaking details. >> while it is true tonight all of the attackers are believed to have died, the french police are saying they're still looking for possible accomplices, this as a top u.s. congressman says he is not aware of any terrorist chatter taking place. simultaneous explosions outside a friday night soccer match, sending thousands of people into the streets in confusion and chaos. two suicide attacks and a bombing all outside the national stadium, killing at least three people there. >> when i looked into the sky after i heard that loud bang, there were no fireworks and that's when i knew it had to be something series. >> reporter: elsewhere in paris, more carnage and terror.

hundreds of escaping hostages fleeing the concert hall, a team of terrorists took over the venue where a band from california was on stage. survivors say the gunmen shot hostages calmly and repeatedly at least 10 minutes, even throwing explosives into the crowd. the death toll here well over 100 people. when french security forces made it inside, three of the attackers reportedly blew themselves up. gunmen also opened fire at this restaurant, reports at least 11 people were killed here. this american tourist was rushed to the basement. >> police after a while locked the restaurant, after we found out there were more people dead. >> reporter: through friday night and into saturday morning it remained unclear when the attacks would end and how many gunmen were still on the loose.

the french president addressing his shaken nation.declaring a state of emergency, closing his country's borders. he was at the soccer game earlier, but was escorted to a safe location. as of yet, no group has claimed responsibility. >> very close attention to how this was done, who was behind it and what the potential is for something like that happening here. >> one question certainly is the who, but maybe the harder question is the why. what motivation, what goal might have prompted someone or group of people to pull off the attacks? jim armstrong, cbs four news. >> tonight president obama called the attack an attack on all humanity. >> this is a heart breaking situation, and obviously of those us in the united states know what it's like. we've gone through these types of episodes ourselves. whenever these kinds of attacks happen, we've always been able

to count on the french people to stand with us. they've been an extraordinary counterterrorism partner and we intend to be there with them. >> tonight france closed its borders in response to the deadly attacks. >> the paris city airport is closed, but flights are taking off and landing at the larger international airport. there is extra security at logan. passengers we talked to traveling to france tonight are anxious and sad. >> reporter: certainly a lot of emotion here as hundreds of passengers headed to paris knowing about the attack, while others heard the news when they landed. waiting in line for a daughter's boarding pass, this mom kept hoping the flight would be canceled. >> i'm scared. >> reporter: nicole harris is a college sophomore studying in

france. she heads back after a week at home. her friends in paris are texting her. >> are you back? it's not safe. i don't want to go back, but i have to. >> reporter: this man was anxious to go back. this is not the first violent attack in france this year, but the most deadly. >> difficult. it happened a couple of times this year, and i don't know what to do about it. we have to -- life goes on. >> reporter: one woman came home from a paris vacation. >> not a great way to land. honestly, it's unreal, even just to think about it. >> reporter: a clear presence of security with state police officers and undeniable increase in emotion.

parisian says she can't help but feel numb. two attacks in one year. we don't know how to live in paris. >> reporter: a guard stood outside the consulate, reminding us all when terrorists attack, the entire world responds. >> it's like a disease. it's everywhere. tomorrow i don't know who would be like touched from this kind of -- [inaudible]. >> reporter: that young woman did talk to her entire family, they are all unharmed, accounted for. the good news, we have learned of a vigil on sunday to honor the victims at the commons at noon. >> this was the deadliest in france since world war ii. ed davis tells me it is very troubling these terrorists were

able to get so close to the french president, and tonight every resource is committed to this attack. >> this is a full court press. everyone is out there on the street from military to police to the average citizen. after the bombings in boston we received reports of over 200 bombs in the city. in france there's a lot of false reporting, but every one of them need to be run down. it's hard to believe this was just one team. there should be multiple teams. >> reporter: of terrorists. >> yes. there's an act threat of

attack 10, three americans on a paris bound plane. today's attack comes as france has heightened security in paris ahead of a major international conference on global climate in two weeks. >> thank you. the band performing tonight is from southern california. they were on a europe tour promoting the release of a new album. all the band members are accounted for, but it's unclear if all the crew members got out alive. we have just learned the band u2has postponed its saturday night concert in paris. >> boston's mayor tweeted out our thoughts and prayers are with the people of paris in time of this unspeakable tragedy. in new york, the spire on one

more on our breaking news out of france. at least 150 people dead after a half dozen coordinated terrorist attacks in paris. the head of paris police says all the attackers are believed to be dead.

a state of emergency is in effect now and france's borders are closed. homeland security officials in this country say there's no known credible threat in the u.s. but police in boston and around the country are stepping up security as a precaution. >> these attacks came hours after the u.s. launched a drone strike against the isis militant nicknamed jihadi john. he's blamed for the beheading of james foley. the u.s. is reasonably sure it killed him in that drone strike. foley's mother isn't finding comfort in it. >> i'm just afraid the hatred and decisions to be violent against one another is just going to increase the violence. that's my concern. >> again, that interview hours before the attacks in paris.

jihadi john was a british citizen who became radicalized. 20 people injured in the crash of a sight seeing crash in union square in san francisco. at least people are in critical condition. this is a double decker open top bus that witnesses say hit a cyclist and at least two pedestrians before hitting several parked cars and crashing into scaffolding at a construction site. no word what caused that crash. one of those nights where we can use good news and we're hoping eric has it. >> at least it will be drying off a little. >> that will be my job tonight. today comfortable. 59 in boston. parts of the cape up to 60 degrees this afternoon. even portland, maine hit 60. every day this month has been above average. tomorrow, though, changes on the way. what a great sight tonight. raindrops making for a dramatic sky.

pressure gradient will weaken a little bit. little less wind. monday next week, milder air moves back in. highs tomorrow, coldest day we've had so far this month. into the unusual for this time of the year. we'll stay in the 40s. 46 in bedford. worcester a high of only 41 tomorrow. plus the wind. between 20 and 30 miles per hour tomorrow out of the northwest. there. and for the afternoon, maybe wait for the raking until sunday when the wind die down a little bit. breezy conditions. 20s north and west of boston. lower 30s near the coast. a lot of towns haven't been below freezing for a while. sunday, breezy and nice. temperatures rebounding after that cold start to about 54 degrees. patriots are on the road, mid-50. breezy but not enough to have a big impact on the game i don't think. next week and a preview there, i think monday is the best day
