we will keep the quiet stretch going, you guys. currently, temperatures 48 degrees at logan airport. the dew point is in the 30s and the winds out of the west at 9 right now. it's colder in the suburbs, though. we've dipped into the 30s and 20s on the map. 29 in orange. 38 in fitch burg. 38 in norwood. and 40 to 50, wide range of temperatures here from the south shore back down to the cape. a few clouds at the coastline have kept the temperatures up a little bit, from the merrimack valley back down to cape cod and the south shore. look at the planner, 42 degrees, sun and clouds to start. sunrise at 6:36. fair and quiet, 56 degrees by lunchtime. actually a little bit above where we should be for this time of the year. and mostly clear. 50 degrees for the ride home with the sunset at 4:21. we'll outline the week ahead coming up. now a look at the roads this morning. good morning, robi. >> reporter: danielle, good morning. quiet out there now as we expect for this time of morning

is under way. heavy volume through boston, but no slowdowns. a quick look at the north map, heavy in the andover stretch, but moving. route 3 south looks good. route 1, 495, they look like speed-limit rides. guys? >> thank you, robi. breaking news now, this just in, french officials identifying the suspected mastermind of the paris attacks. his name is abdel ahmed bell. this news comes as police carry out more than 150 raids overnight across france. we will have more on the investigation in a few minutes. and another developing story, but here at home. high-powered weapons stolen from an army reserve center in worcester. sources tell wbz six semiautomatic rifles and 10 pistols are missing and now the fbi is looking into what happened. our susie steimle is live in worcester this morning.

susie, investigators aren't taking any chances with this one. >> reporter: that's right, chris. we're live this morning. if you're unfamiliar with this area, engines a public place -- it's in a public place and very visible. they say at this point they don't believe that there is any sort of credible public threat in worcester or nearby areas, but still, not willing to that he any chances given what happened in paris over the weekend. . >> reporter: weapons stolen in worcester, sometime between 4:00 saturday afternoon and 7:00 a.m. sunday, weapons went missing at the stoddard army reserve. >> nothing at this point in time that would tie this to, you know, any specific threat or anything else at this point. >> reporter: the fbi is on the case assisting local law enforcement. sources say six semiautomatic weapons and 10 pistols were taken, each has been entered

into a national database, alerting all other police agencies. given the heightened state of alarm following the terrorist attacks, concerns of a copycat are top of mind. >> anytime that you have terrorists, groups or just criminals breaking into police stations, armories, stealing weapons, in order to threaten the local government, the people, mine that's -- that's something we all take seriously. >> reporter: the governor addressed the break-ins during a news conference ag. radar regardless. >> these sorts of things, people will be chasing and investigating no matter what. >> reporter: local law enforcement is calling this an isolated incident. they don't believe it's tied to any open cases. we're live in worcester, susie steimle, "wbz this morning." breaking news in france now, french officials identifying the suspected

mastermind as a belgium man. this comes as dozens of raids happened overnight as the country strikes back against terrorism. france's military unleashed air strikes against isis-controlled territories and training camps. 129 people died in the attacks on paris. more than 350 were injured. bree is here now with a closer look at the military response and the investigation into the attacks. good morning. >> good morning. france's prime minister says there have been over 150 police raids overnight in his country. today, we expect them to announce a new intelligence- sharing agreement between france, the u.s. and our most trust aid allies. all of this while the hunt is on for the logistics man behind friday's attack. the panic is real in paris. a loud noise sent people runening terror from a memorial to friday's victims. french officials say three teams of terrorists launched coordinated attacks on cafes, a soccer game and a concert hall.

massacre was well-organized and sophisticated, making use of dark apps. >> they use the encryption, which is very difficult, if not impossible for governments to break. >> reporter: the attack may have involved dozens of terrorists, at least seven of them are dead, including three french citizens. a number of suspects were detained in belgium and a manhunt is under way right now to find the only surviving shooter. he was born in belgium and believed to have run logistics for the attackers and rented one of the cars they used, which was towed away from near the bataclan nightclub for forensic testing. in retaliation, french warplanes began hitting targets sunday, specifically rocka, where it is believed the attack was planned. among the victims is at least one american,a 23-year-old college california student studying abroad. the son of a martha's vineyard

resident is also critically injured. we will hear from his family coming up in the next half hour. chris, back to you. >> thank you, bree. the attacks in paris have police in massachusetts ramping up security, as well. patrols have been stepped up around what police say could be potential targets. and the city once victimized by terrorism, the commissioner says boston police will be vigilant. >> we're watching social media, all the intelligence out there. and you're going see us being visible around the city, around transportation centers in the city, around sporting events and obviously concert venues. >> police added patrols around sensitive areas and it might be around for a while. they say there have been no credible threats against the city. it is 5:07 now. skaiwl moments for -- scary moments for passengers heading to boston. they were boarding a flight at washington reagan national airport when the crew became suspicious about activity with two men on board.

one passenger telling wbz it appeared they were looking at each passenger's face very closely while boarding. the crew contacted police. they took everyone off the plane and did a security sweep with k-9s. >> they just wanted to be safe because of what happened in paris, i guess, that's what they told us. >> it was scary, but they handled it really well. >> nothing was found, the men were questioned by police, but were released and rebooked on a later flight. stay with wbz on air and online for continuing coverage of the paris attacks as new information comes in and developments eemerge, you can found count on us for the latest. and a danvers teenager accused of raping and killing his math teacher. nicole jacobs is live with a closer look at what we're expected to hear. good morning, nicole. >> reporter: good morning to you, chris. finally, the trial gets under way after about a 20-day halt

philip chrism to undergo a mental health evaluation. the judge determined he was fit to stand trial, competent to stand trial and we do expect those opening statements to begin today. of course, chisolm is accused of raping and murdering his 9th grade math teacher over at danvers high school. she asked her 14-year-old student to stay after class when it appeared he was distracted during class. surveillance video shows him following her in a restroom, that's when authorities say he murdered her, then rolled her body in a trash container to an area behind the school. defense attorneys are reportedly positioning themselves to use an insanity defense, but, of course, the outcome here lies in the hands of 17 jurors who were -- who will now determine chrisom's fate. court begins at 9:00 a.m. we're live in salem, nicole jacobs, "wbz this morning."

>> thank you, nicole. 5:09 now. governor charlie baker's taking center stage on beacon hill today. lawmakers are holding a public hearing to discuss the measure. it would restrict patients to 3- day supply of painkillers. the first time they're prescribed an opiate or when they receive a prescription from a new doctor. patients could seek refills. the proposal would let doctors commit a person involuntarily to a drug treatment facility for up to 72 hours. republican presidential carlie fiorina -- presidential candidate carlie fiorina will spend three days in new hampshire. the former hewlett-packard executive will be at plymouth state university tonight. she will also be campaigning in concord andene, new hampshire. she has been hovering around 5 percent in recent new hampshire polls, far behind donald trump and ben carson. here in massachusetts, presidential hopeful hillary

welcome back. 5:14 now. jet blue will be showing off the latest improvements at logan airport today. >> the airline will unveil the first phase of its terminal "c" makeover. there are new kiosks and updated information displays. jet blue is now the official airline of the new england patriots. while ronkowski is not expected to dance at today's event, the team's newest super bowl banner will be raised at the terminal. his moves are pretty funny. that app was hilarious and had us dancing on friday. >> it did, for sure.

cape cod. otherwise, today will be quiet. a big area of high pressure is going to be building in. so, any wet weather in the central part of the country,we don't have to worry about for several days. so, temperatures come into the 50s. actually a little bit above where they should be for this time of the year. a pleasant start to the week. tomorrow will be cooler. only in the upper 40s for highs, but the sun is going to be shining for our tuesday. wednesday looks good, too. we start with sunshine, the high slims off the coastline -- slips off the coastline. we will get high, thin clouds during the evening hours on wednesday. overall, it looks like a nice day with eventually some of this wet weather coming into play, but not until later on thursday. you will hear about the front over the now few days because it is likely to spawn severe weather in the central part of the country through the next couple of days. in the meantime today, look at this. temperatures, middle to upper 50s. the north wind, it will breezy, but not that strong. 57 in pittsburgh this afternoon.

lower 50s jaffray to the worcester hills. 55 to 60 from plymouth through taunton and norwood. upper 50s on cape cod, as well. tonight will be chilly, clear and cold. 35 downtown, but look at the suburbs. widespread 20s here. 22 to 28 degrees tonight so, cold start in the morning. we will make a pretty good rebound, i mean, 20 degrees by the course of the afternoon, but only in the upper 40s. tomorrow, actually ends up being below average. wednesday, we bump it back up to 50 degrees with late day clouds and then thursday and friday, we watch wet weather. there may be showers thursday late in the day into friday morning. temperatures running in the mid- 50s and then we turn cooler by the weekend, upper 40s on saturday and sunday. traffic and weather together, robi. have to ask, the football game this weekend -- >> really, had to ask? i wasn't going to bring it up.

a new test has been recommended that would combine elements of the current exam with piecest of the park test. if approved, it would take effect in 2017. 100 teenagers sleeping in boxes and fundraising in north attleboro. >> multiple church groups, youth groups, spent the weekend unplugged to experience the reality of being homeless. >> basically what the kids do is they bring their clothes on their back, blankets, plenty of blankets to stay warm and sleep in cardboard boxes for two nights. we call it the feel good weekend. seeing kids without cell phones or tablets. just what they have on them. giving back to the community. >> it's nice to know what a lot of people go through and how hard it is. it gives you an idea of what they have to do and an appreciation for how bad it is. >> it makes me feel like a really good person that i took time to do this.

once you start here,you kind of get the mojo and really want to help out. >> some people, this is their reality. and so i thought it would be a good experience. you get a better understanding of what they're going through. >> that's what this weekend is all about. it's about really pushing them out of their comfort zones and helping them discovery who they are, too. it speaks volumes that the kids are willing to drop their electronics, give up the game and come out here to sleep in a box, to be cold, to get rained on. it speaks volumes and it gives me hope for the world and for the next generation. >> this is the ninth homeless awareness weekend. over that time, the teenagers have raised over $100,000. >> all proceeds go to food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters in the areas. >> good work there. >> well done. nice story. coming up, the pats stay perfect, but with a big cost.

right? 48 degrees in boston now. we're 46 until plymouth. actually have 50-degree readings out there. 50 on the nose in provincetown. mid-30s in manchester. 29 in orange this morning. it depends on where you are. we will see sunshine to start the day. there will be a few clouds mixed in, there is a cold front that will slide through the region today. with it, a few clouds. merrimack valley, northeast massachusetts, down to the cape now. sunrise at 6:36. just over an hour from now. no weather-related issues for your commute this morning. pretty nice lunch hour, as well. plenty of sunshine, pleasant, 56 degrees. the northwest breeze today, 5 to 15 miles per hour. and it will be clear and quiet heading into the ride home, as well, around 50 degrees with the sunset at 4:21. quiet in the next couple of days, then things start to change a little bit, i will time out the rain on the way for thursday into early friday coming up. now a look at the roads. traffic and weather together. it's been a busy start, robi.

mastermind. they say it's a belgium man named abc slam sal yeah. he's been one of the most active isis executioners. the french prime minister says there's been more than 150 police raids overnight across france. and the country launched air strikes in syria, taking out isis command and recruitment centers. and learning more about some of the people hurt in the attacks in paris, including the son a man living on martha's vineyard. >> bree is back with the story. good morning, bree. >> good morning, chris and kathryn. when yaan meerseman heard about the attacks on friday, he know his son was at the bataclan theaters. working for the production company putting on a concert. but he had to wait hours to hear if his son was alive. 34-year-old arnaud meerseman was shot in the chest and now in an induced coma. the french citizen is expected to survive. his father, who lives on

martha's vineyard spoke to us via skype, recounting what arnaud's colleagues told him. >> there were a bunch of people running in the street. running into the cafe and they realized something bad was going on. everybody was trying to get inside and once he got inside, he suddenly realized he wasn't in pain and realized he had been shot. >> a bullet went into his body under his right arm and it was in and out, basically punctured his lung and got fairly close to his heart, but luckily it didn't touch any vital organs. >> reporter: it took seven hours before the family could track him down at a hospital and learn that he will likely recover. he's through surgery and will be taken out of a coma within the next day or so. his father plans to fly to paris wednesday to be with his son as he recovers. kathryn, back to you.

a bomb threat delaying classes at cape cod community college today. state police k-9s will sweep the campus this morning and school expects to re-open at noon. the hianis center is not affected by the threat. they will have a regular schedule today. and a rockport man was shot while traveling along a road in revere. 19-year-old was a passenger in his father's car when several shots were fired along route 60. the victim was shot in the neck. he's in stable condition. police are looking for a black sedan with tinted windows. if you have information, call revere police. as colder weather gets set to move this winter, that means cold and flu season starts for us. experts say you can keep yourself healthy. first, soak up the sun. the vitamin d you get from the sun helps boost your immune system. stay hydrated. in colder weather, your body's metabolism speeds up. and you need more fluids to replenish it. and bundle up.

welcome back. wild weather out west. >> a tornado in central california leaves behind a string of damage. >> meteorologists are going to be out there surveying the damage today, where the tornado struck. the national weather service confirms it did touch down.

no injuries, thankfully, were reported, but there was damage to trees and power and gas lines. from looking at the pictures, it looks like it may be like an f-1 or f-00, but still, you think tornados are rare for california. there's usually 26 for the month of november. california is such a big state, you know what i mean? but either way. did you see the news yesterday? >> i didn't. >> these are beautiful. these are calvin hemholtz clouds. that's a fancy word. these were taken over kingsboro yesterday afternoon. also,a sign of instability, too. if you grab those, i sax them yesterday, as well, but wasn't able to snap a picture of them. they only last a couple of minutes. 8/degrees in boston now. in the 30s in the suburbs. 34 in nashua.

32 in keane. in the 40s on the cape and islands, as well. kids heading outside for the bus stop this morning, running in the 40s. you need the fall jacket for the beginning and end of school, as well. plenty of sunshine today. a couple of clouds mixed in this morning. there's actually a cold front that's going to come through the region today. but there's not a lot of moisture with it. so what we will notice is cooler temperatures come in behind it. there's the band of clouds from northern new york into far eastern massachusetts, so the clouds do shift through today, but overall, it's a quiet start to the week. temperatures in the mid-50s. a bit above average for this time of the year today. high pressure building out of eastern canada, too, will today, tomorrow and on wednesday. we don't get any wet weather that would arrive until thursday, late in the day, but the same front that's going to bring us showers by later on thursday will be responsible for severe weather the next few days in the central part of the

10 pistols that were taken from the reserve center. local officials say they don't believe that there is any credible public threat tipped in time. they are working closely with the fbi and given what happened in paris over the weekend, they say they are not taking any chances. in worcester, susie steimle, . breaking overnight, french officials just identified the suspected mastermind of the paris attacks. 27-year-old abdelhamid abaaoud from belgium, he's linked to multiple isis plots, including a train attack charted by -- thwarted by three americans. police carried out 158 raids overnight across france and put 104 people on house arrest over the weekend. french fighter jets bombed isis recruitment centers in syria. coming up at 6:00 a.m., the manhunt for another suspect and the condition of the son of a martha's vineyard man. and julian edleman's season may be in jeopardy now.

edleman has a broken foot. he's scheduled for surgery today. he twisted his left foot during the dramatic win over the giants yesterday. state police investigating after a woman was hit and killed walking on i-95 south in dedham. troopers say they don't know why the 44-year-old woman from roslindale was in the middle of the road. the driver who hit her suffered minor injuries in the crash. good morning. i'm nicole jacobs live in salem, where opening statements in the trial of philip chism are expected today. he's accused of raping and murdering his 9th grade danvers high school math teacher back in 2013. a jury selected -- jury selection was delayed a couple of weeks ago because chism needed the mental health evaluation. the judge did determine chism is competent to stand trial. court begins this morning at 9:00 a.m. we're live in salem, nicole jacobs, "wbz this morning". a deadly milestone in baltimore.

killed in the city this year. a 27-year-old stabbing victim became the 3 hundredth homicide over the weekend here. four hours later, a 22-year-old man was shot dead. this is the first time since 1999 that the city recorded that many murders. last year baltimore had 211 murders. the death toll continues to rise in china after a massive landslide. 30 homes were buried in mud and rock after heavy rain drenched the area. 25 people have been killed. 12 others remain missing. more than 2,000 rescuers have been searching through the rubble to find survivors. it is 5:51 right now. time for our daily -- for facebook receiving praise and criticize zep over how the company handled the tragedy in paris. >> the site allowed users in france to tell friends they were safe, but did not offer the same alerts in other trouble spots around the world. robi has more. >> kathryn, if you have facebook friends or relatives in paris over the past few days, you were probably

relieved to get a notification from the site saying the loved ones were safe. many applauded the move by facebook, but many asked why it wasn't activated in places like beirut. it's allowed thousands of users to notify friends with just one click a button they were not harmed after the terror attacks. facebook decides when to turn safety check on. in the past it's been activated only for natural disasters. many were praising the feature, others wondered why it wasn't turned on for things like what happened in beirut. here's a tweet, i survived all the previous beirut terrorist attacks. another person questioned the policy, asking facebook sets up safety checks for paris friends. thank you, facebook for this great initiative, but what about beirut and syria? the ceo says going forward, they're going to offer safety
