[gunfire ] >> you can hear gunfire and even explosions with two suspected terrorists killed as police raided an apartment near one of last week's attacks. the operation targeted the suspected mastermind of the a-- mastermind of the attack. >> a man and woman are dead and several police officers are injured in the standoff. jonathan vigliotti is in paris with all of the breaking details. >> reporter: gunfire erupted in the paris suburbs overnight where police believe the mastermind from last week's

terror attacks was hiding. panicked residents heard explosions. others evacuated and others told to stay indoors. authorities think the mastermind was there. a second man slipped away after the carnage. authorities reportedly spotted him on surveillance video in a car with two other attackers who opened fire on customers at a bar. the brother of one of the suspected attackers is appealing for him to come forward. "my advice to him is to turn himself in to police so justice can find out what happened," he said. >> reporter: the soccer stadium was targeted by three suicide bombers. attacks on so-called soft targets like these pose yet another challenge on the attack against isis. >> for terrorists, if you are willing to die, you can choose

everybody else in law enforcement trying to prevent it has to get every, single thing right all the time, 24/7, 365. that is a much tougher task. >> reporter: french warplanes dropped more bombs. jonathan vigliotti, cbs news, paris. also breaking this morning, two air france flights diverted because of bomb threats. those planes searched for bombs overnight. here's bree with the newest information this morning. hi, bree. >> reporter: chris, the planes bound for paris. the first flight took off from l.a. and landed safely at salt lake city. airport officials say the threat came via telephone, but they wouldn't elaborate. we have cell phone video of flight. 9 units. a second flight took off from dulles outside washington, d.c. the nature of their threat is

unclear at this time, but we do know that it landed safely in halifax, nova scotia. the southwest flight took off after passengers went through interviews with the fbi and accepts of the plane came up -- and sweeps of the plane came up clean. chris, back to you. breaking this morning in manchester, new hampshire, a fire at a three-story home has now been knocked down by firefighters, but they are still searching for hot spots. flames broke out around 1:00 at the home on rimmen street and quickly spread. six people were in the home at the time. no word on whether anybody was injured. later this morning, a polish woman will be in court accused of trying to open an exit door on board a flight to logan airport. 32-year-old camilla was agitated on the british airways flight from heathrow to logan. some thought she might be having a panic attack. halfway through, she tried to

open the exit doors. that's when the crew jumped to action. >> they had to tie her down, get handcuffs and had to put handcuffs on her feet as well. >> there wasn't any reason to worry. she wasn't violent. she wasn't screaming. it was interesting seeing how well the crew reacted. >> investigators say this was not an act of terrorism. aviation experts stress it is impossible for an exit door to actually be opened while the plane is moving. an earthquake centered in metro west. did you feel it last night in people in communities near 495 explosion. the earthquake was centered medway. police got dozens of calls from concerned neighbors. >> i think initially folks say the homes shook, buildings rattling.

we received 50 phone calls in the police department. the fire department was out training so the crews started checking areas. it was active for about 10 or 15 minutes. >> there were no reports of any damage. danielle, we don't normally think of massachusetts when talking about earthquakesp. >> you know what, chris, small earthquakes are pretty common here. this was 1.5. it may have been awe sonic boom because there were no damage reports. earthquake recorded in new england, eight small quakes in the last month and 900,000 register under 2.0 every year across "the globe." >> thank you very much, danielle. worcester police are stepping up security for presidential hopeful donald trump to visit massachusetts today. trump will attend a rally at the dcu center.

next delta flight? the airline just announced it will no longer accept pets as checked baggage. exceptions include military members and service animals, pets small enough to fit in the kennel under the seat can travel in the passenger cabin or pets can be shipped through delta cargo on a separate plane. the policy change will start next march. taking the ultimate selfie on a ski sleep courtesy of a drone. it's hoped to bring to a ski resort near you designating the area as the drone zone. it will follow skiers down while capturing their runs on video. a three-run photo shoot should go between 100 and $200. a los angeles designer wants you to "freck yourself." the designer always wanted freckles so she came up with

mild start to the month of november. 34 in boston right now. we've got widespread 20s and even teens in the maps this morning. 20 in nashua. it's allowed scattered frost and it's 18 in norwood. the biggest difference is on cape cod. chatham is 29 degrees. so it's a little shock to the system as you step outside. we are in for a lot of sunshine today. we will rebound coming up to around 50 this afternoon. that's actually normal for this time of the year. so a nice fall day, especially by november standards. the clouds will increase

overnight tonight. high temperatures tomorrow. 53 in boston tomorrow. middle to upper 50s, but it may take a good amount of the day before we get the highs to move in. we're extending back down to mississippi and alabama. it's spreading east and will bring us our threat for wet weather tomorrow. steadier rain arrives through mid to late afternoon. scattered showers and downpours tomorrow evening. overnight on thursday it is going to pour. the rain will ship out quickly on friday morning. it may linger a little longer until early afternoon on friday. then we get some clearing that comes in. saturday, a nice start to the weekend. filtered sunshine up around 50.

expertise can use it to find out personal information that you don't want them to know. this is just a phone app i have. valerie let us try it on her boarding pass at logan airport. is that your information? >> it is. that seems scary. >> reporter: some like southwest scramble the information. others don't, revealing frequent flier account numbers. >> on the ticket itself it's blanked out. but if you look on the bar code, the entire number is listed. >> reporter: it didn't take long for this computer expert to hack into the frequent flier account. the carrier's web site sim lip asked a security question. favorite team. >> reporter: at that point, someone could change flights, steal freakfullier miles -- frequent flier miles or worse. >> they could see her home address, personal telephone number, and personal e-mail address. all great stuff for further attacks if you wanted to try

also breaking, bomb threats diverting two air france flights. first taking off from l.a. and landing safely at salt lake city. this is airline passengers evacuating. about the same time, a seco took off from dulles. that one was safely diverted to halifax, nova scotia. both flights were cleared and searched. right now, much of the world is still on alert. in germany, a soccer stadium was evacuated after what police described as a credible tip about a possible bomb plot. the german chancellor merkel soccer match. even in the united states, we're seeing greater security. at the td garden, you will see extra police patrols, extra metal detectors. fans we spoke with said they will not let the paris attacks disrupt their lives.

>> i feel safe in boston. >> even after the boston marathon, i wasn't all that worried about it. >> the city has always been a safe city. people feel that way, despite some of the things that have happened over time, but they incidents. that's exactly the way they should look at them. >> and simple reminders, know where the nearest exits are and don't panic in the case of actual emergency. the judge in phillip chism's murder trial will decide how to proceed. the teen is accused of murdering colleen ritzer and refused to come out of his holding cell after a break yesterday. the judge put the trial on hold again to consult with a psychiatrist. earlier in the day, ritzer's mother took the stand peggy to describe her thoughts when her daughter didn't return home from school. >> the only thing that i could have thought could have happened was that maybe she had been in a car accident or something, but i knew since she

that someone would have called. >> the defense argues chyz imis mentally incompetent to stand trial. a new hampshire driver accused of going over 100 miles per hour. police say this man phillip shaw had an 8-month-old baby in the car with him. new hampshire police say the 29-year-old was clocked speeding at 107 miles per hour. he's charged with reckless driving and endaverring the well -- endangering the welfare of a child. a holiday ripoff. bree is back with a warning in cambridge, bree. >> 19 packages have been stolen from doorsteps in the past two weeks and the holidays aren't even here yet. the first assignment is to team one veteran officers and go door-to-door warning residents. they could have put this out on a web site alert, but they opted for a little face-to-face walking the streets and meeting
