that little child was found alive and in relatively good condition, but this is just a bizarre story. police are not saying whether the child wandered away or if she was taken, but they are saying there's no threat to the public here. >> they found a child on the side of the road bruised. >> reporter: police scanner traffic details the shocking moments when a 2-year-old was found alive hours after she went missing. >> they thought it was a doll. they backed up. >> reporter: the toddler was discovered in rawly and the people who saw her said she was sitting naked in a pile of leaves with a contusion on her her head shaved. call hamilton. >> reporter: she was reunited with her parents and transported to boston

>> what are we looking for? >> 2-year-old female last seen wearing a long sweater. >> it reveals the police were contacted around 7:00 this morning after her parents last saw her at 4:15 a.m. police joined forces using dogs to search the area around her home. she was located and police remained tightlipped and just how she disappeared. >> it's like a jigsaw puzzle. >> reporter: it's unclear when we'll be learning more about the investigation. state police said they would not be releasing more information because they do not want to risk jeopardizing the case. live in hamilton, louisa moeller, wbz news >> just to add to the

a couple was driving by and noticed what they thought was a doll sitting on leaves. on a hunch, they turned back to check it out. the girl. beth? >> reporter: he said it was fate that he drove down this roadway just at that time. the condition of the child, he wasn't sure if it was a male or female. she was just sitting inches from the roadway. what he discovered here is both shocking and disturbing. it's a sight in the leaves on the side of the road tom crosby won't soon forget as he headed with his wife to work. >> low and behold, there it was a child sitting in the leaves. >> reporter: head shaven. >> reporter: she looked like she was in a bit of shock. i tried not to scare her.

i just noticed that she was cold and, um, so i went over to her. >> reporter: still visibly startled by the discovery that quickly brought investigators to the area as his wife made a 911 call. tom crosby just trying to comfort the girl. >> i asked her name and asked if she was hurt at all. i thought i heard no, so at that point i decided it was safe to pick her up. >> reporter: how large was the contusion? >> the whole portion of her head here. >> reporter: he had seen earlier on the news pictures of the little girl in the ongoing investigation in hamilton. by the time the police arrived, he put it all together and knew who he had found. how shaken are you about i this experience? >> i just see the vision of driving by, and i just see the child sitting there in the leaves. >> reporter: tom crosby said it

here, but he will leave that to investigators. he hopes she recovers from the incident and that she is reunited with her family. i'm beth germano, wbz news. david, lisa? beth, thank you. all of the sirens and lights are an unusual sight for people in that neighborhood. ken? >> reporter: police have just finished scouring this small house on lincoln avenue for forensic evidence in what might be a possible abduction while neighbors describe the little girl at the center of this as very precocious and her parents as the fresh scrubbed all american type. a distraught tim albert returned to his house this afternoon to round up things toed they to the hospital to be with his 2-year-old daughter. looked on. >> it is a hammer blow. a child missing like that, it's only snag happens elsewhere, you know?

>> reporter: the home was ribboned off shortly after 7:00 a.m. when tim and jody called 911 to report the toddler missing from her bedroom. that ramped up a search by air and on the ground. police sealed off the neighborhood and canvassed for leaves door-to-door. several nearby residents showed up to help. >> well, once i had heard that there was a 2-year-old girl missing, i wanted to come up and conduct a search. i would be on that team as well. >> reporter: that wouldn't be needed as mid-morning brought discovery of the naked little girl on a rawly roadside as police sorted through the mystery of her disappearance and 7-mile trek. neighbors were quick to dispel any sinister involvement by dad or mom. >> she was with them all day longhands on completely in their world, entertaining them, talking at their level, so gently, so kind, so patiently. >> reporter: long after tim albers headed to the hospital,

you are looking at pictures of the more than 100 hostages who are freed from the hotel there. officials tonight say two of the attackers are dead and others may still be inside. we're also learning more about the terrifying moments inside of the radisson blue hotel. craig boswell is in washington with the latest. >> reporter: the standoff is over. the hostages are free but it's still an active crime scene and hundred people including some americans. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: bystanders applauded mali troops who helped end a standoff at a hotel in the country's capital. islamic extremists armed with guns and grenades stormed the hotel. the men shouted god is great in arabic and spoke in both french and english. 170 people were taken hostage. security forces went door-to- door and led dozens to safety. cbs news learned as many as 14

of the hostages were american. president obama was asked about the siege during a meeting in malaysia. >> we're monitoring the situation. >> 22 u.s. department of defense employees in the city are all safe. five were at the hotel at the time of the attack. french soldiers and some u.s. special forces helped in the operation. the upscale hotel is popular with foreigners. employees with air france and turkish airlines were staying there. two terror groups with ties to al qaeda are claiming responsibility for the deadly siege. u.s. 'em abouts is he has lifted its recommendation that -- the u.s. embassy has lifted its recommendation that the americans shelter in place. craig boswell, cbs news. people in paris are paying tribute to the people who died in the attacks there. the death toll is now to 130. tonight police are releasing new information about the raids that have followed the attacks. paula ebben joins us now with the latest development. paula?

>> authorities have conducted now nearly 800 raids including one that killed abaaoud, the ringleader and his cousin. today, investigators revealed into that a third person died. the victim is a woman but her identity is unclear. meanwhile, authorities say less than an hour after the attack, the ripping leader was spotted on subway surveillance video. it was at the same metro station where police later found a get away car. a search for a terrorist who managed to get away is widening to include the nudgerlands. today, the friend -- the netherlands. today, it's been extended for three months. people stood up making joyful noises in a statement that terrorists will not win. stay with us on air and online for continuing coverage for the investigation into the paris attacks. back here at home, a man accused of stealing high- powered weapons from the

little brother ahmad. >> reporter: he's helped write a letter to president obama asking that more syrian refugee be allowed into the united states. >> we just need more americans to open their arms to syrian refugees if only they knew who they are. so we decided to write a letter to president obama. >> reporter: he put the pen in his mouth and signed the letter. with his father watching, ahmad said he likes america. he likes pizza, and hopes to get new arms some day, and he's learning english. >> thank you so much, guys. >> reporter: of course the issue is highly politicized, but in this particular case, it boils down to a 9-year-old boy who loves living here but wants to get home to syria at some point. in sharon, i'm bill shields, wbz news. >> a couple of days ago, we heard from the governor who had reservations about bringing syrian refugees to the u.s. we also learned that governor baker would not sign a letter

which asked the president to stop welcoming syrian refugees into the country. turning to weather in new england, i don't think you could have asked for a more glorious day. >> this was a perfect ten in my eyesp. >> perfect ten. it's because of the unexpected nature of it this late in the season. >> really, thanksgiving is next week? >> on borrowed time. >> it's been an easy month for us. 61 degrees in the city of boston. nowhere near the record. the record high for the state is 74. we're not toughing that. over 60 degrees so far this month. and if you are wondering what the record there is, 15 which is our warmest november ever recorded in 1975. looking at our temperatures so far dominated by the red square as we talked about the fridays. they've all been running well for us. the winds are slowly bringing

50s towards the seacoast. lower 40s towards the berkshires and western vermont as cooler air is filtering in farther off to our west. that will be the story back toward reality. back down to our storm system is coming through the midwest. looking at our overnight lows, ranging from the upper 20s to mid-30s for most and upper 30s for downtown boston and toward cape cod. 45 to 50 degrees for your high temperatures, but a nice one to be outside. here is a look at the time line. we have mainly clear skies tonight. a few high clouds move in. tomorrow is a nice blend of sunshine with the high to mid-level clouds. taking a look at sunday, we've had a few showers that will be

so more cloud cover on sunday for sure. temps in the upper 40s on the average. low to middle 50s in the southeaster part of the state where it will feel very mild. again, we'll have some of the rain showers. how about the tree-lighting spectacular at faneuil hall? looks excellent. bc. no weather issues out there at fenway park. then we look toward next week. one thing to watch for next week is late sunday night into monday. a storm is going to be nearby just offshore. i do think it stays mainly offshore. it may brush the cape and the islands with a little bit of rain, especially early on monday morning. once that leaves the picture, things get very quiet. they also get cold. last note here, patriots monday

this is a pretty cool video of almost 1,000 pets put on airplanes and shipped across the country to find homes. the cats and dogs will be dropped off in a number of state where's shelters are not as crowded and they have a better chance of being adopted. the wings of rescue group is run by pilots who donate their time and planes for the lift more than 16,000 pets have been rescued. chasing down suspects, but this is not what you expect to see. keep watching. yes, it's a cow. texas police going after the run away cow. the confused animal running up and down the street for 20 minutes before he was trapped.
