friday, a 2-year-old girl was discovered naked in a pile of home. >> the report of a child on the side of the road bruised. >> reporter: the people who found her said she had a contusion on her head, and her head was shaved. >> they thought it was a doll but they backed up. >> reporter: the toddler was this morning. her mother said she had last seen her at 4:15 a.m. local and state police joined forces using dogs to search the area and close to 10:00, she was located. she was rushed to beverly hospital and listed in fair condition. after reuniting with her parents, she was transferred to boston children's hospital. >> until i know the outcome, i will be very concerned. as a parent, i feel very much for the parents. >> reporter: after relaying the good news, police remained tightlipped on the investigation and how she disappeared in the first mace.

place. >> it's like a jigsaw puzzle with a bun of the -- bunch of the pieces missing. >> the reverse 911 call was sent out telling residents that there was an active investigation. no threat but they should stay inside. moeller, wbz news. >> now we'll show you a closer look at the area where the little girl was found in rawly. you can see a very, very rural stretch there. heavily wooded, but the little girl was by the side of the road. that's where a couple driving by spotted her. beth germano spoke with the people who found her. she's live in rawly tonight. beth? >> reporter: the resident says he saw what at first he thought was a doll by the side of the road so he turned the car around to take a closer look. what he discovered in the leaves has left him shaken. the little girl with a severe

>> driving by, i could see the child sitting there in the leaves. >> reporter: it's an image tom crosby won't soon forget. driving down this rural road with his wife. making the discovery of a little girl. her condition was shocking. >> her head was shaved, and she did not have any clothes on. >> reporter: how large was the contusion? >> the whole portion of her head here. >> reporter: police soon arrived when his wife called 911, but he had already approached the toddler trying to comfort her. >> she looked like she might have been in a little bit of shock. she was shivering, shaking, and i tried not to rattle her. i approached her slowly, you know? i just noticed that she was cold and, um, i went over to her. >> reporter: that's when he wrapped her in his coat. >> i asked her name and i asked if she was hurt at all.

i thought i heard no, so at that point, i decided it was safe to pick her up. >> reporter: crosby said it looked like she had been placed in the leaves. it was a few minutes before he connected it to the ongoing investigation out of hamilton he had seen earlier on the news. now he says fate brought him here. >> i guess an act of god or whatever it was, if was me. >> reporter: given the girl's condition, he admits he wasn't sure at fist if she was a male or female. reporting live from rowley, i'm beth germano, wbz news. >> the disappearance of the girl stunned her neighborhood. the people who live here say she comes from a very nice family. ken? >> reporter: paula, neighbors describe the little girl at the center of this as energetic and precocious. they say her parents are hands on all american types.

has shocked this entire street. by mid-afternoon, state police were scouring the albers home from every angle for evidence of a child abduction. as stunned neighbors sought to dispel any notion of wrongdoing by dad or mom. >> she's just a hands-on seen before. >> reporter: it was from this house on lincoln avenue that panicky parents called 911 after 7:00 to report their 2- year-old daughter missing from their bedroom. what followed was an intensive brief search by foot and by air as police sealed off the neighborhood and went door-to- door. some residents showed up offering to help. >> it's any parent's nightmare that their daughter or son go missing. i'm here just to give support. and the information we hope is positive. >> reporter: it was mid-morning when a passerby spotted the

police acknowledge that the child was found. come early afternoon a distraught father returned home with a police escort to pick up things and headed to the hospital to be with his daughter. an hour later, investigators with are swarming the place in their effort to figure out who plucked the toddler from her bed. >> immediately, i can picture her trauma and her shock. i'm completely horrified. it's nightmares for me. >> reporter: the toddler in this case has a slightly older asleep. she is fine. police left here about 90 minutes ago saying nothing. live in hamilton tonight, ken macleod, wbz news. >> ken, thank you so much. >> so there are a lot of questions that still need to be answered. developments. a plane that was supposed to take new jersey governor and presidential candidate chris christie to boston was grounded

united airlines tells us the flight was delayed buzz of a disruptive customer on board. the flight is expected to arrive at logan almost five hours late. a passenger shared with us this picture of christie in the terminal. he's coming to boston for campaign stops in new england tomorrow. the christie campaign released this statement. governor psychiatristty, and aide and memberch his security detail be with traveling on a flight from san francisco to boston when a passenger was removed from the plane. at no time did the governor interact with the passenger nor did they pose a verbal or physical threat to the governor. cbs news has just confirmed one american was killed in that hostage siege at a hotel in mali. this morning, as many as ten militants attacked a radisson hotel in mali's capital taking dozens of hostages. it's unclear how many were

. today is an extremely happy day for 129 kids in massachusetts. today they have forever families. >> it's all part of national adoption day. we actually met two of these kids a few months ago on wednesday's child. >> we're trying to find a family. i assume you want a family that's going to take both of you? >> yes. >> reporter: that's ty and maya hanging out with jack williams. >> these adoptions are final and irrevokable. >> reporter: today, the sister's dream came true when their adoptions became final. >> i will say thank you.

again or having, like, a new life. >> reporter: the girls spent several years in foster care but when their new mom denita brewster saw their picture in the newspaper, she said -- >> i know those kids. >> that's because herr sister taught and she never knew they were in state ware. >> i was moving really fast. >> reporter: then she and her husband arthur saw the wednesday's child story. >> it was cute and how i these joyful, bouncy girls. >> there was no hesitation. we decided we were growing to do it, and that was that. >> reporter: they join a large extended family and it looks like all of the smiles will last. >> amazing. >> just wow. >> denita and arthur talked

line. a couple of late clouds coming in from the west. tomorrow is a nice blend of day. not much wind to speak of. as we head toward sunday, the same front that's attached to the snowstorm will bring rain showers. the rain will be across the cape, the island and southeastern massachusetts. looking at your saturday, sun and clouds. about 48 degrees on the increasing clouds saturday issues. as we head toward sunday, more clouds around and a spread in temperature from the mid and upper 40s across worcester county from the low and middle 50s. it's pretty mild in spots. the forecast hasn't changed all week. cool and dry, low 40s. game. notre dame and b.c., 7:30 42 degrees.

plain ridge park casino is running into problems on some sundays. the owners of the parks say business drops a lot when the patriots are playing attagirlest stadium. plain ridge is five miles away on 495 which is often clogged with patriots fans. tonight, american airlines says it has found a boston marion bombing survivor's lost prosthetic leg. >> she took her complaints against the airline public on

that the airline had lost her luggage, which included her leg and dancing equipment. that tweet spread and the airline responded. today, american notified davis that had had found her lost luggage in a country she had never been to. the mission to save liquid planet is not going so well. >> kevin due mont, the owner of the water park in new hampshire has shackled himself to the tower at the top of his slide as he tries to find someone to help him save the park. the state shut it down because of a bacteria outbreak and the state wants it closed. he says he has not received any firm offers yet and is starting to get worried. he is hoping to get hillary clinton or donald trump to come by and offer their support. >> we shall see. some people are spooked by friday the 13th. >> up next, the couple who will always consider that day a very
