it is monday november 23. we've been talking a lot about food lately. >> it's exciting. a lot to do this week. how is the forecast going to play out. >> it's going to be pretty quiet. it's a big travel week. thanksgiving coming up and mother nature is going to cooperate here. this morning it's a cool start. temperatures 39 in boston dew point in the upper 20s. the northwest wind 13 miles per hour is dragging in the dryer air and it's gusty out there especially in the south shore and cape over 30 miles per hour, 37 miles per hour gusts and 30 miles per hour on nantucket and you notice the breeze today. left over rain showers here thankfully so encountering roads pushing off of plymouth. over tout and the east side of the vineyard. temperatures for all of us in the 30s to lower 40s on the

cape coldest north and west of town dipping into 309s with a couple of slick spots. otherwise chilly from start to finish today. we drop a few more degrees the sun breaks out mostly sunny skies but only around 40 today clear and cold dipping into the 30s for the ride home. we take you out to thanksgiving coming up but let's get to the roads first. >> danielle pretty quiet but we do have an accident north of the city to tell you about in stoneham 93 northbound just affect the exit for spot pond and route 28. exit 34. the right lane is blocked going away from the morning rush and it just happened so not seeing any significant back ups yet. chris and catherine. >> thank you very much. this morning entire tires through an animal shelter. 30 cats died at least 12 dogs could not be saved. that fire broke out around 11: 00 at the sweet pea shelter on pleasant street. by the time firefighters got

there it was a tough fire to fight but they were able to save five dogs. >> we were very fortunate to save just those if you looked at the site. it was fully engulfed when we got here. so we didn't think we were going to save any of the animals so that was our first goal to do that. >> crews are taking care of the dogs now. two are in serious condition. all of the firefighters are okay. the building though was a complete loss. and we are also following a developing story for you a babysitter is due in court this morning charged in a bizarre kidnapping case involving a hamilton toddler she used to care for. >> police haven't revealed a lot. >> but we are expected to learn more when she is in court today. nicole jacobs has more on what we do know. >> good morning catherine and chris. that little girl has been released from the hospital but

>> driving by and i just see the child sitting there in the leaves. >> now this topsfield woman, 21- year-old abigail hannah sits at the center charged. she broke into the toddler's home and kidnapped her while her parents slept. hannah was once the child's babysitter and the little girl was found eight miles away by tom and his wife. >> i tried not to startle her. i approached her slowly you know and i noticed she was cold and so i went over to her. >> naked with her head shaved

they say hannah who attended gordon college and according to police targeted the little girl now faces the judge charged with an unthinkable crime. hannah is charged with breaking and entering kidnapping and assault and battery. she is expected to be arraigned today. nicole jacobs wbz this morning. >> thank you very much for the update. right now police are searching for the man seen in this surveillance video trying to hold up a liquor store. police say this would be robber said give me the money or i'll give you aids but when the clerk pulled out a baseball bat that suspect ran off. a beverley woman who police say was strangled by her estranged husband died. now the charges against axel will be upgraded to murder. the 45-year-old confessed to attacking her in her home on penny lane last monday. investigators say he choked her with the strings of her sweatshirt.

he is already being held without bail. morning. schools and subways closed over a concern about an eminent attack. bree has more. good morning. >> good morning. belgium operating on the highest terror alert in the day. they have not found paris fugitive sal yeah abdomen. one person tried to ram a police car in a get away. the subway as well as schools and universities are shut down today in an attempt to prevent what authorities believe is an eminent threat. french police say the paris attacks were planned in belgium. cause for alarm in paris. public hospital authorityst say a number of protective health out fits are missing.

the same day the french prime minister says attackers might use chemical weapons. law enforcement is redoubling efforts to protect the american public. 46million will travel in the united states seeing extra officers patrol dogs and guns at every airport train station and tourist destination in the country. homeland security secretary jay johnson says his agency is ready for anything. >> i always hesitate to rank threats. but the potential copy cat, the lone wolf factor is one that we are continually focused on. >> the department of homeland security say they have no credible threats anywhere in the u.s. and just in just now uk prime minister david cameron requests approval from his parliament to join air strikes on syria. cameron and the french prime minister are visiting the sites

>> thank you for the update. a homeless man in worcester stole the weapons from the armory. they found three of the 16 guns and turned them into place. james morales is facing charges in the case and also for child rape. police do not believe this is expected to terrorism. >> apart from anything that has to do with terrorism i'm concerned about the really high caliber weapons stolen from a military facility in the first place. >> police are not sure where the other guns are. police arrested morales on long island and could be in court as early as today. today the denver student accused of killing his math teacher is back in court. prosecutors show him using a recycling bin to transport the body of colleen to the woods before the high school. he was 14 at the time of the

murder being charged as an adult. this morning two girls are recovering hit by a car while crossing main street. a 16-year-old girl suffered head injuries after the impact sent her flying. a nine-year-old girl was also hurt but not as seriously. the driver stopped and was questioned by police. northon police are investigating a shooting in a home that left a man dead. officers were called saturday home. police say a man inside fired shots from a first floor window. officers returned fire. bullet holes are visible on the see. a neighbor watched the whole thing unfold from his window. >> i didn't honestly think it was going to escalate to that so it's surprising. that's the best word for it, surprising that something like that would happen in a quiet neighborhood like this. >> a swat team sent a robot inside and determined the man was dead.

it's not clear if he was killed by police or took his own life. if you are headed to the pats game the patriots taking on the bills and extra security in place at gillette. fans arriving to the game must have a clear nfl approved bag to get into the stadium. non compliant bags will have to be returned to your car and the policy also applies to the commuter rail. transit officials in the bay state are getting ready for the holiday travel crunch. the state secretary of transportation says go on line and use apps so you don't have take public transportation if you can. they are adding extra service to and from logan. it will operate on a sunday holiday. here. coming up the search for answers in the garden heist. >> how the investigation is going and why the surveillance

>> i like it all. sauce, turkey. >> no waste for dinner. >> you need a little extra room so elastic waists. colder dipping at 32 right now. 40 in chatham. the wind is gusty out there. it's going to stay breezy through the day today but this morning it's strongest on the cape and the islands gusts from shyann yes to nantucket and a couple from plymouth to the cape just pushing off shore so a couple sprinkles left over but steadier rain over an inch in southeast massachusetts. clearing quickly now and that will include the cape and islands where we do still have clouds in place right notch. and temperatures only up by a degree or two here so we kind of stay steady for a lot of us here.

and it is going to be a chilly feel although the sun is going to be shining today so we do turn mostly sunny. coldest game of the season 31 degrees for kick off from the pats in gillette stadium dipping into 209s. by the time we get into the end of the fourth quarter the wind will be clear and cold. certainly want to be bundled up tonight. if you think this morning is cool look at these temperatures tomorrow morning wide spread 20s even a couple teens on the maps. clear skies, quiet weather. the wind won't be nearly as strong but we may not get out of the upper 30s in worcester, 40s for a lot of the rest of us with sunshine and clouds mixed in. clearing behind that. a couple of snow showers in the great lakes. we don't have to worry about that high pressure building in over the next several days so that's going to provide the quiet stretch right through the middle part of the week.

up and down the eastern seaboard it is looking quiet so traveling across the northeast and new england to d.c. too this is your thanksgiving forecast. 62 in our nation's capital, 55 in boston, the 50s in chicago but there may be snow in the west coast 20s in denver and 70s with rain in parts of texas into thanksgiving. active weather a warming trend too. look at that turkey he's happy, 56 degrees friday 60 to end the week with increasing clouds a couple late day showers on friday lingering into saturday and chilly by sunday. traffic and weather together. >> your little animated turkey is not fooling anyone with the pilgrim hat on. we know you are a bird. don't try to pass yourself on as something else. >> what's your favorite on thanksgiving? >> it's all about the stuffing. i love it. >> i do too. >> i can do without the vegetables.

on the campaign trail now hillary clinton wants a tax break for care givers let people caring for elderly family members get up to $6,000 in expectations back. it will help middle class families part of a series of cuts she plans to roll out in the coming weeks. donald trump is leading in the poles but not if--polls but not in a former candidate was in the race. if mitt romney were running he would beat him 2-1 in the state and 1 in three voters would vote for him instead. he has repeatedly said he is not running this year. clean energy is the topic of the house hearing tomorrow. policy business executives will be there talking about hydro power off shore wind and solar energy as the global warming

little girl and is now in police custody. we expect to learn more when hannah appears in front of a judge later on. 16 people are under arrest across belgium but the missing paris fugitive is not one of them. the country is on it's highest attack there. police discourage people from gathering in public. the subways and schools are shut down. belgium. it is 5:33. new york city police are staying on top of their training with active shooter drills in the subway. >> but for the first time ever they also rehearsed for an attack by someone wearing a suicide vest. bree joins us now with a closer look. >> chris and catherine again they want to specify there is no credible threat in new york or anywhere else in the country. these drills were planned prior to the attacks in paris but at the last minute officials did add in some elements that are

fearing there could be a copy the f.b.i. secret service transit police and the counter-terrorism unit took part in the three hour training simulating an active shooter on the subway platform throwing mock surprises at the officers and tested out new technologies during the drill. >> we have now beefed up our resources that we are in a position to handle a significant number of events going on simultaneously. >> police commissioner bill bratton says the drill went well but officials will review video of the drill to see what if any changes should be made. they stress there is no specific threat and americans should not change their plans as the holidays approach. a sharon teen killed in israel has been laid to rest by

in belgium over a eminent attack for the third straight day. they have carried out dozens of raids but have not found the belgium police arresting 16 people across the country including one person who rammed get away. coming up at 6 the moves being made by the u.s. and the missing equipment that raised concerns once again in paris. police in new orleans releasing a picture of a suspect accused of shooting a medical student who tried to help a woman. she was dragging a woman down the street when the 25-year-old tried to help. cane shot him in the stomach and tried to shoot him two more times but the gun jammed. the met student is in--med student is in guarded condition. liberia confirmed ebola is back being treated in the

baby comes he plans to take two months off for paternity leave. he and his wife are expecting a girl next spring. the chief executive of facebook calls this leave a very personal decision that he millions. he posted on line that studies show when working parents take time to be with their new borns outcomes are often better for families. facebook has a generous benefits package for american expecting. they offer up to four months of paid paternity or maternity leave which workers can take throughout the year. according to the u.s. department of labor only 12% of private sector employees entitled to family leave from their job so facebook has a there. how much time do you think new dads should get and what do you think about this? marie on facebook says i love it.
