early happy thanksgiving to you. i'm chris mckinnon. kathryn hauser. danielle, how's the weather? >> the only thing we'll have to contend with are some clouds. temperatures will be above days. the dew point's in the 30s and the wind out of the south at 8 miles per hour. all it takes is a bit of a wind to add a chill to the air. 33 in worcester. so we've had colder starts over the past few mornings. 20s. middle 40s when you come back down to cape cod. the satellite shot shows the clouds in place. a lot of these are low-level clouds that move in. notice by the hour by hour forecast as we head through the

early morning hours and turkey trots and football games, a lot of us coolest in the upper 30s. the clouds do break apart just a little bit in the late morning and afternoon. sunshine pokes out at times by 2:00 p.m. temperatures will be running in the middle 50s. once the sun sets, we'll be cooling off in the 40s. we'll take you out through black friday tomorrow and the weekend, you guys, in a couple of minutes. in boston, a deadly shooting at a fenway area bar. >> police have just spoken to the media. nicole jacobs is live outside with who's on first. nicole? >> reporter: julie, chris, we're right at the corner of vanness and yawkey way. right down the street is completely blocked off. beer works is at the end and who's on first is where the crime happened. we are hearing from police that

three people were shot, nonlife- threatening, and one confirmed dead at this hour. we do know that police were actually in the area when they heard gunshots and immediately saw hundreds of people running from who's on first. i want to get you right to video to get you a closer look at exactly where this all happened. police say that at this point, they are not clear of any suspects. they aren't even clear of the victims at this point. they know the male who died is in his 20s. at this point, they are searching for suspects. they are looking at surveillance video at some point today, the chief says, so hopefully they will get information with regards to that. as for what was going on in this area when the shooting happened, we're told there was a private function at who's on first. at this point, the chief cannot say if everyone involved in the shooting was a part of that function. all of this, of course, is part of the investigation. again, he says they will be here throughout the morning,

hepatitis c. >> reporter: monday he and his leaves. charlie picked up a pile where it was a used needle and left him with two needle pricks on his palm. >> our children are supposed to be safe at home as well as school. i don't feel safe bringing my child to school anymore. >> reporter: it wasn't until she raised concerns with an emt that she learned about the needle. she says a voice mail did not go out until today. >> i think any parent would want to know that a child got jabbed with a needle because how do you know that was the only one? >> reporter: test results come back this week. kristin was told there is a low risk for him. >> there shouldn't be any risk. >> reporter: charlie is moving to another school and they are moving to another city saying

>> reporter: the boston health commission searched the area before the kids returned to school on wednesday and found one needle. the school system also says they will make sure to educate kids about needles to make sure this does not happen again. katie brace, wbz news this morning. police say two people stormed an auto body shop and beat several people up inside. brandnd donovan and anthony tarascuso were after a 19-year- old but attacked several others inside with a baseball bat and crowbar. all are expected to be okay. football at fenway may be the next big fall tradition. today, more high schoolers will hit the gridiron. there are two games between two sets of old rivals. you can bet the stands will be packed. >> that's exciting for the high schoolkids.

i don't know. it's a tie between the coldest and wettest. no one wants rain. snow would be pretty. thankfully, our weather's quiet. we'll be coming into the 50s. it's 29 in nashua right now. 41 in boston. 20s, 30s, and 40s but not as cold as we've been the last couple of mornings. now, this morning, oh, what an experience for the high schoolkids, right? needham, wellesley 43 degrees at fenway. 52 by noontime for boston english taking on boston latin. there will be clouds around today across the board. it will be a dry day today aside from the isolated sprinkles this morning. 56 is the high later on today. 58 in norwood. keep in mind that our average high temperature should be in the upper 40s. so with the wind coming from the south, we'll warm things up today. across the nation, the central part of the nation dealing with

stormy weather. into nebraska. 59 in chicago with rain showers. a much colder bismarck to denver. temperatures in the 20s today. coast. sunshine in seattle after an active stretch. pretty quiet up and down the eastern seaboard as well today. if you are traveling anywhere across the country, it's the central part of the nation to worry about. for us, the deck of clouds is already in place right now and tends to break apart as we head toward the evening. the clouds fill back in overnight tonight. so we're waking up tomorrow morning with clouds in place. a mild start. tomorrow is another dry day. as we take it out through friday night, though, here comes a cold front with a couple of scattered rain showers friday overnight into early on saturday morning. we may get a lingering shower on the south coast through midday but partial clearing will come in. the cooler air will filter back in this weekend as well.

private function as police who were patrolling the area tried to get inside. they found a young man in his 20s dead of gunshot wounds. three others who were shot are at the hospital. we have a crew on scene. we'll bring you an update coming up at 5:00. you can't miss the extra security patrols at public places expected to be packed for a long thanksgiving weekend at logan airport. state troopers are carrying long guns ready for an active shooter scenario. there will also be more patrols at shopping malls and other soft targets. americans are being warned to be vigilant. three people charged with buying items off shoplifters then selling them in two boston stores. the group would request items to resell at the my tan fashion and super 99 plus stores.
