things are there. good morning, susie. good morning, catherine. police do plan to be out in full force this black friday, and you do notice that this -- coming through the parking lot, you see more police than you would ordinarily see at this point in time and shoppers like seeing the extra security, especially this holiday season. shoppers prepare to line up around malls this black friday. police in wrentham line the parking lot. >> in the wake of the paris attacks and the state department, we just elected to be ahead of the curb in public >> reporter: additional security will be both visile in the form of officers with long rifles and invisible. the detectives in plain clothes will mix in with the shopping most shoppers like the idea. >> we should not be bullied. you think the security is -- >> absolutely. >> and show them who is in charge.

we are. >> the governor said there is no credible threat to the state of massachusetts and that black friday should continue in the usual fashion. >> it's pretty crazy and. that that is fun like from the holiday and we're excited. so, i think it's a good time. >> what are your thoughts on the security. i think it's great. and more security, you feel more protected. >> reporter: police say they will stay present to ease anxiety. >> i think it gives people comfort. in these times, i think people want to see it and there is few who don't want to see it. >> and they have been going smoothly this morning. one thing we're doing this season, retailers, don't go shopping without your phone. for example, the simon app shows you where all of the deals are inside of this mall. they can also push you alerts to where you are at in the mall. if you're near a specific store, you may hear of a deal because of that and certain

apps, they will send you -- and to get on your phone. and -- we're live inside the plaza, susie steimel, wbz this morning. and now this morning, the french president is promising the families of the 130 victims he will do everything to destroy the, quote, army of fanatics that are responsible. this comes one day after he met with putin. the two leaders agree to coordinate the military strikes and show intelligence. belgium lowered the terror level a notch. the shall ifs new say the threat of an attack is no longer imminent. the people still need to be vigilante and on alert. and meantime, belgium's justice ministers said a fugitive wanted in connection to the paris attacks is likely getting sent from others. he said it's obvious that salah abdeslam is a bigger part of the network. and a commuter rail worker killed outside of a shooting

morning. nicole jacobs is live in boston with the latest on the investigation. what can you tell us, nicole? >> i can tell you that friends describe jesse cherry as easy going, always smiling and never in a bad mood. unfortunately this morning, he was shot and killed here on the first. he would have tushed 30 years old today, friends say. a milestone mist as those who knew him mourned his death. it was in the overnight hours that thanksgiving day, jesse cherry was shot and killed outside of the whose on first bar and middle school say they sat only yards away patrolling the area and heard the shots and immediately responded. >> as we were responding, we saw several hundred people >> reporter: three others were caught in the cross fire and some known to police.

they escaped with non-life threatening injuries. it was hear didry authorities believe was an innocent bystander who had plans to work later in the day. he was an mbta commuter rail conductor. instead, a holiday weekend filled with grief for all who loved him. >> and no mother should get a phone call her son and is shot and killed. any day of the week, never mind thanksgiving day. >> reporter: taking another live look here at whose on first bar and grill on yaki way, we're told a gun and shell casing were found here. it's filled and covered by surveillance camera, something investigators are using with hope of who is responsible for the crimes. nicole, thank you. a former millis police officer accused of lying about an ambush and sparking a

a family member said they found ryan johnson's body thanksgiving morning. you remember back in september, prosecutors said johnson called in saying shots were fired at his vehicle. they found a story to meet up and he did the damage himself and they charged him with calling in a fake bomb threat to the high school. 6:08 now, the protestors planned in chicago's busiest shopping district. jesse jackson will march with them to remember the black teen killed by a white police officer. discourage black friday shoppers from hitting the stores in that area. >> and workers are in the christmas tree after the protestors damaged it during a second night of demonstrations. protestors ripped off the lights and crews say the good thing is that they tied down the lights tightly when they first put them up.

this year's macy's thanksgiving parade went off without a hitch. an estimated 3.5 million people are expected to hit the street for the parade. and it helps the feature. 17 giant balloons. ladies, it's a mild start this morning and temperatures, 51, 51 degrees in boston right now and more in the upper 30s in locally dense. a half a mile visibility and quarter of a mile in concord, new hampshire, and keane and there is a dense fog advisory in all of new jersey and the south coast of connecticut, all of rhode island and northern bristol county in massachusetts. attleboro, taunton, and these areas with visibility reduced to near zero at time and other than that, the fog burns off mid-morning for most of us and that sun is breaking out today and clouds like yesterday and upterivals through the day today and dry. tracking areas of rain and snow and icing ongoing for parts of kansas, oklahoma, and northern texas. that is in the niters in the pan-- in the 30s in the panhandle of texas and this front is working in our

direction and it will bring us a couple of rain showers. overnight tonight, and mainly tomorrow morning and let's go through the hour-by-hour, breezy and mild into the 60s today. overnight after midnight, you may get a shower in northern massachusetts, southern new hampshire, 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and notice the areas of rain. generally light, not a big deal and push along the south coast late in the day. a couple of sunny breaks before the sunset, the high pressure builds in and sunday looks like abrater day and temperatures into the upper 40s and this is a closer look. three, 4:00 a.m. when they get a stray shower or two. 6:00 a.m., southern maine and northern massachusetts. pockets of light rain and not everyone is going to see it. 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, areas of rain for boston, metro west and a couple of showers through late morning and into the south shore and cape. overall, the rest of the day is dry and featuring lingering clouds and a brief passing shower tomorrow morning. today's temperatures, though, look at this, the record in worcester, 66.

threatening gunshot wounds and it was a chaotic scene. >> they're brazen and shot at one of the officers a half a block away. >> and authorities were waiting to help with crowd disbursement after the function was letting out around 2:00 and that is when the shooting hoop -- shooting happened. they said it recovered a gun and shell casing and they hope to get the foods they can with the investigation and they're looking at surveillance video. >> a patient at cape cod hospital is recovering after their hair caught fire during a surgical procedure. the spokesperson said the heat- generating piece of equipment ignited the patient's hair and the fire was extinguished and there is no word on how or why it happened.

searching for black friday deals. most shoppers welcome the added security and say they are determined to go about their business despite the possible danger. and a family in morning after a commuter rail conductor was killed in a shooting outside of a bar near fenway park. he would have turned 30 years old today. he was shot and killed outside of the whose on first earlier thanksgiving morning and is three other men were injured. police found a gun and shell casings at the scene and no arrests were made. and prompting a lockdown. the first family was celebrating thanksgiving. the man was captured by secret service agents and is currently in custody and there is no word if charges were filed. and the patriots are out another wide receiver. aaron dobson is done for the season after injuring his ankle in monday night's game against the bills. the patriots put him on the

inches of snow here and it was a mess on the road. so, you know, this shut down some roads and all it takes is some snow to slicken things up. 63 degrees, ladies, warm and breezy and tomorrow and for the weekend, we're in the upper 40s and back to normal and know early morning rain hour -- rain shower tomorrow. >> and look at them holding down the fort. >> i know. >> and -- [ indiscernible ] >> no. going back to bed.
