>> cyber monday. i forgot about that. >> i'm kathryn hauser. >> i'm bree sison filling in for chris mckinnon. it is a chilly start to the workweek out there. you notice it the second you walked out the door. we have a look now at the forecast. good morning. >> good morning. yes. it is a cold start to the day. temperatures in the 30s to the southeast. we're in the 20s to the northwest. 30 degrees in boston. 35 degrees in plymouth. 37 in chatham. and we have a few coastal clouds that developed overnight. we will keep cloudy conditions along the coastline with mostly sunny skies farther inland but with the chance for a flurry along the coast. ocean effect flurries and maybe an isolated snow shower later today. temperatures stay cold, too. this evening, falling to 35 degrees and another cold night in store for us. then heading into tuesday, we become milder with the temperatures. there's also a chance of rain.

defenders to hit now, so it's -- i bet if you asked the players, they'd let you know. >> the big concern is about gronkowski, again. what he walking, he was able to get up and do things and came back with the team on the plane. obviously he's going to have an mri today and hopefully we'll get more information on grok going forward. that's sports this morning. i'm levan reid, for wbz sports. now to a developing story in chicago. a shooting threat canceling chicago today. the fbi says an online threat mentioned the campus quad and a time of 10:00 a.m. the school is asking all students in campus housing to stay indoors. they're also asking 30,000 faculty staff undergrad and grad students to stay away from campus. right now, security in paris is tight as world leaders attend a conference on climate change. president obama is joining more

than 150 leaders for the talks. aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. about 100 protestors clashed with police ahead of the conference. officers in riot gear used tear gas on the demonstrators. paris is still under a state of emergency following the terror attacks earlier this month. president obama took time out to remember the victims of the attack. he joined the french president and the mayor of paris outside the nightclub. they each laid a white rose on the makeshift memorial to the paris. high-powered guns, a stash of ammo and survival gear. police say that arsenal belonged to a lester man who took off as police tried to arrest him. this morning, that man is due in court to face charges. at the dangerous weapons. >> the damage that could be inflicted by the firepower before you is almost unthinkable. >> reporter: a huge collection

of dangerous weapons, nothing short of an arsenal. high-powered guns, including an assault rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammo, bulletproof vests and survival equipment. police say the cache of weapons was found in and around this lester apartment. now the man living there, a 32- year-old, has been arrested, much to the relief of the police chief. >> this is a law enforcement office's worst nightmare. from the time the incident happened, i did not sleep. i was concerned for myself, my fellow officers and the members of our community >> it began when worcester police asked lester officers to arrest him after an incident in that city. but before they got there, he escaped into the woods and stole a row boat, getting across a pond and getting away. hours later, police caught up to him. 35 miles away in royalston. >> this is huge. this is huge. and for us to get this back

and it's a win for public safety. >> reporter: lester police say this appears to be the biggest seizure of weapons in town history. >> this was a great job and the part of the whole thing is nobody, nobody got hurt, but you can see what's on the table. the potential there could have been devastated. >> reporter: he faces a variety of weapons charges. the police chief here in leaster says he was not properly licensed to own any of the guns or the ammunition that he allegedly had with him when what he arrested. he's due in court later on this morning. jim smith, wbz this morning. the trial of a danvers teen accused of killing his math teacher is expected to resume this morning. in court last week, prosecutors showed surveillance video that they say shows philip chism wheeling a recycling bin with the body inside. the judge adjourned the case for the week last tuesday after

richards' mother broke down in court. the case could go to the jury in two weeks. lawyers for convicted marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev will be in court tomorrow. they say tsarnaev didn't get a fair trial and they want a new one in a new location. his defense tried for a change of venue before, before the case even started, but they were unsuccessful. today, we might learn the motive behind a shooting rampage at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado. robert deer will make his first court appearance via video camera later today. police had sealed the warrants after they say the 57-year-old killed three people, including a police officer who's a native of melrose. the shooting also wounded nine others friday. cbs news reports deer intended to shoot propane tanks to send off a series of explosions before he surrendered. the three people killed in that shooting include 29-year- old kiera stewart, an iraq war vet. his sister told detectives

a call when what he shot. he leaves behind two children. jennifer markkowski, escorting a friend to the clinic, was also killed. she was the mother of two young children. the last victim, the melrose native, derrek swayze. and in blue hills, a deer hunt start in 20 minutes. protestors call it a slaughter. the agency says the deer population is out of control and that increases the potential threat of lyme disease and other illnesses. in new hampshire. >> chris christie picks up big support as he heads to the state today. plus, it's cyber monday. if you have shopping to do, we've got you covered. a closer look at the online deals today ahead in our moneywatch.

big thing in china. the country lifted the one- child policy. there could be a bigger demand for sufficient and minivans they were front and center this weekend. and now a manicure in a flash. a british company called nails inc. created a new spray-on nail polish. it comes in a can and takes 20 seconds to apply. you could use water to wipe off any polish that gets on your skin and for now, this spray is only available in the u.k., but they plan to launch in the u.s. next year. i think this is the best news ever, in a very long time. bree and kathryn? >> we're busy gals so keeping our hands still long enough to dry polish doesn't happen, jill. >> i have no patience for the manicure. >> none! way too busy for that. >> and your nails look so good and you just get it done and walk out and -- done. >> i know!

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas in downtown boston. >> tonight, one more decoration will adorn the city. the tree will be lit between 5:00 and 6:00 this evening. the mayor will help light the tree. the free event will also feature live entertainment. very nice. now, the big question is what will the weather look like for that tree-lighting? >> it feels winter like this morning, for sure, pamela. >> it will stay with the wintry feel this evening, too, for the tree lighting. we may see a couple of flurries prior to the tree lighting here in boston. i will explain why in a second. current temperatures, though, starting off a couple degrees colder than yesterday. 30 degrees downtown. the real feel is 22. we have a wind chill. and it feels colder than the actual temperatures out there. worcester, 24. waking up to 26 in nashua. another morning you need the heavy coats, gloves, hat, scarf, especially for the kids

at the bus stop. 34 in taunton. milder to the south and east, on the cape and islands there. the hour by hour forecast, temperatures stay in the 30s for the entire day here in boston. 36 degrees 9:00 a.m. still, increasing it to the upper 30s by 11:00 and by noon, we may touch the lower 40s in some spots, but most places will be in the upper 30s here. worcester, 36. only a high of 41 in hyannis. lows tonight in the 30s and upper 20s. another icy, cold one for us and another frosty start to the day going into tuesday. the deal with the flurries here, in your hour by hour forecast, 7:00 a.m., we start here. we have a little bit of a breeze coming off the ocean. the warmer water compared to the temperature, allowing for moisture to get picked up because of the northeast breeze. because of that, we will see ocean effect clouds and ocean

9:00 a.m., keeping the flurries on the coastline here. and this morning you may see a brief snow shower. nothing widespread, no accumulation or anything like that, but wouldn't be surprised to see some of the snowflakes flying through the sky. it is the season, so why not? farther unland, a mostly sunny sky and no flurries to worry about. tuesday morning, a dry start to the day and then temperatures get milder. tuesday night, into wednesday, we're tracking scattered showers and the potential for heavy rainfall at times through wednesday. anywhere from half an inch to an inch and a half of rain. the seven-day forecast, cool for us today. tuesday, 46 degrees. wednesday, 51, scatterd rain, then the 40s with another dry stretch thursday, friday and next weekend. >> thank you, pamela. on the campaign 2016, hillary clinton was in boston to pick up a major endorsement.

former secretary of state at a rally. clinton spoke to a packed house, filled with union workers and students. the former first lady vowed that her campaign would focus on creating jobs and rebuilding the workforce. >> as your president, we're going to have ladders of opportunity available for anybody willing to work hard and do your part to make a difference in this country. >> nobody in the history of this country has the resume that hillary clinton has to run for president. >> she says she'd try to make college more affordable to all. new hampshire's biggest newspaper is endorsing chris christie. they say he's right for the dangerous times. christie is expected to make several stops in new hampshire today and tomorrow. the family welcomes a new baby girl. patrick kennedy and his wife, amy, welcomed nell kennedy. that was around 4:30 sunday morning. they say she's healthy and

and tied it at 24-24, bringing the game to overtime. then the patriots failed to score in overtime, the broncos c.j. anderson turned the corner for a 48-yard touchdown run and the victory. the broncos beat the patriots 30-24, ending new england's 10- game winning streak. and it's the first loss of the season, it didn't sting enough, the pats also loss tight end rob gronkowski. >> this just hurts. gronk injured his knee during the fourth quarter. our dan roach is live with more. >> reporter: 2:49 left to go in the fourth quarter. a battle back and forth, when gronk went down, new england holding its breath, needed to be carted off and didn't look good as far as getting the right knee hurt and banged up. he's been through so much in the patriots uniform when it comes to injuries, but we can say in the locker room afterwards, cautiously optimistic, that's the best way

to put it for the patriots team. players concerned, holding their breath, saying prayers for gronkowski. he packed his stuff, didn't speak with the media, but walked to the patriots bus, so we shall see, but initial reports, again, holding their breath, the fact that maybe, maybe he will be okay. whether it's short-term, long- term, if the patriots get him back at some point in the season, that would be huge for them to repeat as super bowl champions. i'm dan roche, wbz sports. >> we hope for a speedy recovery. 4:54 now. the response time for boston's emergency medical services are get leaninger. it's now taking paramedics more than a minute longer to arrive at the scene of most serious emergencies. according to the globe, one reason for the longer response times is a 26 percent increase in calls over the past decade. officials have not identified a reason for the spike, but the good news is patient

boston's proposal to raise the age to purchase cigarettes and tobacco products could go statewide. nearly 60 representatives and senators have signed on to a bill that would make it illegal to sell tobacco to people under 21. boston's board of health scheduled a hearing for thursday. several dozen massachusetts communities have done the same in the last 10 years. hawaii recently became the first state to raise the age to 21. and the famous dancing cop is taking his routine over the river for christmas. retired officer tony ll1el0pore gained national attention for his dance moves that started in 1984. the city didn't invite him back this year after he organized a protest outside a dunkin' donuts where a worker wrote "black lives matter" on another officer's coffee cup. he's now been hired by the city of east providence to direct traffic.
