we are looking live at san bernardino, california right now where we're expecting to hear from authorities at any minute to update us on this shooting from yesterday. this as we learn more about the husband and wife team who entered a social services center. it is the worse shooting since sandy hook three years ago. >> thank you for being bus. right now the police are still combing over the scene with the shoot-out with the suspects. they're trying to figure out what triggered this horrific act of violence. chris martinez reports. >> reporter: an assault rifle and a bullet riddled suv are part of a crime scene as police in san bernardino continue their investigation into why two shooters opened fire on a holiday party at a social services center killing 14 people and injuring 17 others. the suspects have been identified as husband and wife team.

they were killed in a shoot-out with police several hours after the rampage. >> it is possible that this was know. it is also possible that this was work place related. >> farouk worked for the bern department of health. police say he attended their holiday gathering wednesday morning before suddenly disappearing. >> he did leave the party early under some circumstances that were described as angry or something of that nature. >> reporter: the investigators say he returned with his wife, both dressed in combat-style clothes. cell phone video captured diseases of people fleeing the rampage. >> based upon how they were equipped, there had to have been some degree of planning that went into this. >> reporter: the u.s. officials say neither of the shooters had shown up on terror watch lists. he was an american citizen born in chicago. authorities have not released any background information about his wife.

and we are learning more about the suspects. authorities say early wednesday morning they dropped their 6- month-old daughter off with their grandmother. the guns used were purchased legally. we're also hearing more about what happened as the couple entered the health center. >> she just told us that, you know, they were just coming back from a little break and then the doors opened and gun happened. >> reporter: 10 victims of the shoot ring still being treated at california hospitals. the "new york daily news" igniting outrage over its coverage of the san bernardino shooting. here is the cover with the headline, quote, god isn't fixing this with tweets from several politicians calling for prayers. connecticut senator chris murphy sent out this tweet. it said your thoughts should be carnage. your prayers should be for foregiveness if you do nothing again.

ryan seemed to dodge questions gun violence. >> what is it going to take to move the needle in congress as the frustration build ? >> that's what i'm trying to say. what we're trying to do is find out the facts and make sure our response actually addresses the problems without, without infringing upon the rights of law abiding citizens that is the key here, gale. >> it keeps happening. >> and we also have citizens who have rights to be protected. again, one of the common themes here, this is why we're really serious about our mental health legislation because a lot of these people are getting gun whose are mentally unstable, who should not be getting guns, and this is a gap in our laws that we feel needs to be filled. if you're not outraged when you turn on the tv and see the shootings, there is something wrong with you. we just want to get it right. meanwhile, the massachusetts governor charlie baker says the recent mass shootings from paris to california has prompted the take to take action. >> there have been ongoing

to talk about what works and -- worked and what didn't. stay with wbz and cbs news for our continuing coverage of the san bernardino shooting. we'll bring you any information on air and online as soon as we get it. breaking news. boston police arrest a person they say is connected to a deadly thanksgiving day shooting outside fenway park. the officers say 26-year-old dominic carpenter grady is facing weapons charges. he is due in roxbury district court later on today. right now cambridge schools are open and in session with school threat. this is the second threat in in cambridge. the police and school authorities say they're not taking any chances. and we are live in cambridge this noon with more. good afternoon, suzy. >> reporter: good afternoon. we're in front of the put numb avenue upper school, and this is one of those middle schools that was specifically named in that e-mail threatening gun violence.

increased security presence as there is at every cambridge school today and parents tell us they're trying not to let this threat affect them, but that is easier said than done. >> reporter: they're in bulletproof vests, up on the roof and talking -- walking canine units around the ground. the increased police presence is impossible to ignore at cambridge schools. >> there's certainly some palpable fear, and, on the other hand, that is counterbalanced by a palpable sense of relief, particularly thanks to the police. >> reporter: the parents received robo calls a and warning from administrators that kids would see additional security at school. for the second time in a week, an e-mail threatened couldn'ts' safety. thursday the threat was gun violence. tuesday it was bomb. so far neither has proven credible. >> one of the terrible challenges of 2015 is that one really never knows. >> reporter: the superintendent jeff young had to make the

whether students should attend school thursday. he echos what many parents say, that fear should not win out. >> do you give me and what do you invite by giving in? so we determined that we could keep school open. >> reporter: the police do believe the threats are related, sent by the same person, but they have to take each one seriously and given the current climate, it is hard for parents to feel perfectly safe, let alone convey that to their own kids. >> actually dropping them off this morning, i'm much more upset than i thought i would be. i have to tell you, i'm incredibly stressed right now. >> reporter: know, there were -- now, there were a number of absences in cambridge school district because of the threats. the superintendent tells us he is going to meet with police at the toafned day just to see how everything went -- the end of the day just to see how everything went and they can assess how long the additional security will be necessary.

today. he admitted killing his parents in manchester, new hampshire in march of 2014. to florida. the run. the friends haven't been able to explain his downfall. they said he had a good relationship with his parents and he had fiancee who confronted him today. unconditionally can commit such a terrible and disgusting crime, you have to quickly learn to hate that person. that was a process. not only i had to go through, but also our family. feelings were mangled for months and i was living on an emotional land mine. >> he was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison. 16 years ago today a fire changed the city of worcester forever. six firefighters died in a fire at the cold storage and warehouse company on franklin street. tonight the firefighters will

that a little wit of ice has mixed in with -- bit of ice has mixed in. this is the last piece of energy that will pass through the rest of the day. this is where the center of low pressure is, actually producing here. those are winter storm warnings posted for the crown of maine there in pink, and that means some good snowfall accumulation over the next 12 hours or so. i want to show you here, other than a couple of left over sprinkles in eastern parts of massachusetts, we'll be all dry, partly sunny skies continue for us. notice the snow continues to pile up for our friends to the north here. and especially in the higher elevations. 11:00 p.m. we're looking all dry. mostly clear overnight tonight with passing clouds for friday later in the day. but still looking dry. mostly sunny skies and a perfect set-up for the weekend. if you have plans to be outside or anything like that, milder temperatures on the way too. snowfall accumulation, anywhere from one to three inches to
