attack but they are not under arrest. back to you. >> tonight we are hearing from the family of a new hampshire woman that was one of the 2021 people wounded in the attacks -- 21 people wounded in the attacks. the 32-year-old is originally from new hampshire. he was shot several times in the leg and her arm. coming up at 5:30 you will hear from her pastor. >> this couple is drug some strong parallels between what happened in san bernardino and the boston marathon bombing. jim armstrong joins me now. there seems to be some striking similarities between two pairs. >> the more we learn about california the more true that becomes. in both cases you are dealing with close family members where it seems one person took the lead in radicalizing the other. in the marathon bombing case he

in san bernardino it is look more like it was the wife who was the first person to radicalize and who made may have brought her husband along with her. in both case you also have suspects who traveled abroad to hot beds of radicalization. we are hearing something similar may have happened with him. in both case it also appears the internet played a big role in connecting these terrorists to the larger ideals of a bigger organization. look at the weapons themselves. the pipe bombs are almost identical to the brother's pipe bombs that were logged at police in watertown.

have a pair of attackers that put a lot of thought into their initial attacks but refused to plea afterwards rather going back home. for the brothers we learned it was probably going to be new york city where they were trying to head with that cab driver. with the couple it ended up being a fire fight in front of their house a short time later. >> perhaps most disturbing in both case attacks taken out right within their own community. >> exactly. >> thank you so much. we will have much more coming up on this story. that is ahead in just minutes. also breaking here at 5:00, in an explosive situation in downtown boston, a suspicious suitcase blown to bits by the bomb squad. a short time ago police arrested this man here who they believed may have dropped the suitcase and then simply walked away.

in a popular part of busy downtown boston. you can see the dramatic pictures here. a bomb robot, a bomb technician called to the scene. police have spent hours searching for this person of interest. late this afternoon word of an arrest. now to beth who is live in austin with the latest. beth? >> this was quick work for the police. within an hour they took him into custody. now ill -- it was one of their officers who first spotted the suitcase. he went back inside, checked the video, didn't like what he saw and immediately called boston police. it was an eerie sight on atlantic avenue. this photograph taken by a

despite frantic efforts by firefighters, four people on the second floor were killed. young men living on the first safety. tonight they are back at the moment. fire. then he was knocking on my door. he all got out. when we got out it was too late. i was a lot of black smoke inside. we couldn't do nothing for the people on the second floor. >> she escaped her third floor apartment with her mom, dad and younger brother. >> we heard it. and he opened it. we just run out of the house. >> the dangerlingered. at one point the roof collapsed while our morning crew was interviewing a fire chief. collapse. with four people killed, the

people on the same floor were saved. >> it was absolutely amazing. i have been a firefighter for 32 years, it was one of the most spectacular rescues i have seen. those guys did a fantastic job. >> back here in lynn tonight the names of the four victims have not been released yet. the cause still under investigation. just a few minutes ago breaking news on this story, state fire marshals office is putting out an appeal to the public for help. they want to talk to anybody who saw anything here just before 4:00 a.m. they have particular interest in anybody who have taken any cellphone video. that is an indication that this investigation is wide open. back to you. >> scary scene. thank you. a compelling testimony in the murder trial today. as a mental health security for the defense took the stand.
