>> we were lucky to get out of there the way it was, it could have been a lot worse. >> reporter: rick had no idea that the redline train he was on had no conductor and no idea there was trouble until this. >> covered my eyes, i was going by quincy, it was moving. >> reporter: what did you think when you started passing all these stations. >> that something was wrong, we are going too fast. >> reporter: it was a seemingly regular commute until the lights went out and the train stopped between stations. >> we knock on the door of the driver and nobody was there. >> reporter: what did you see inside. >> nothing. it was all dark, everything was quiet. it was just odd, we had no idea what was going on. >> reporter: what is going through your mind now? >> it was just kind of scary, at first we received information it was gunshot and somebody was hurt. so my first idea is how am i going to get out of here.
