who thought a year ago she might never play again performs for the doctor who saved her talent and her life. sophie fellows got a terrible headache. >> turns out, she had a brain tumor. the family told that a surgery could save her but rob her of her talent. paul burton has her story. >> reporter: 2-year-old sophie plays the violin as beautifully as she files. and this brave young girl has a lot to smile about. >> i feel great. i don't feel sick at all. >> reporter: but that was not the case a year ago. she felt sick during last year's christmas concert, and the headache that sent her home burned out to be a brain tumor. >> she developed headaches and was supposed to play in this concert around christmas a year ago. that was interrupted because of her headache. >> reporter: she underwent brain surgery at boston's

blood disorder center. for the past year, she and her family has been traveling back and forth from vermont to boston children's. immediately following her surgery, they were not sure if sophie was going to be able to play the violin again. >> because of a new diagnosis, not knowing if this was going to be a tumor we could take care of. >> reporter: but she's in a different place, in the clear, playing better than ever. >> i just wanted to give so much thanks to boston children's hospital. >> reporter: and one year later, sophie takes center stage alongside her doctor who performed her surgery. sophie's parents listen with great joy and humility. >> the highlight was her playing with her surgeon. >> thank you for the gift that you gave. and i love your slogan: until every child is well. >> reporter: i'm paul burton, wbz news. >> we are all applauding.

20 years ago tonight, a huge fire destroyed a factory in lawrence. they lost everything that night but the new owner kept paying his workers and rebuilt the factory. >> and now, a sad twist. the jobs are being moved out of state. polar tech will relocate 200 manufacturing jobs. and the man who saved those jobs 20 years ago told the globe that the decision is a disgrace.
