now 11, schools in nashua, new hampshire will reopen after a threat to harm students and staff forced the district to cancel classes today. let's get to jim smith. on hand.>> reporter: yes, paula, extra police will be on duty here at nashua high school south and throughout nashua. on monday, there was no school. that provided a real challenge for parents.>> there are no words to describe how reprehensible i think that person is.>> reporter: choice words from lisa toronto, directed at whoever made the threat to force schools to close monday. she had to take her son to work with her. she thinks closing the school was a good decision. >> he came to work with me today and there was not a lot more we could do.>> it through

want white christmas, you are in luck. snowstorms for the next five days. you know the truth though. it will continue to be warm. 45.7 is our average temperature, way ahead of the base for the warmest december on record. our average will go up this week, extremely where -- rare when you are in the final stages of december. it is the mirror image of last february. a lot of people have been saying we will pay for this later. maybe we are needed. this year is exactly average. it was so cold in the spring and winter. now we are right in the middle. current temperatures, 52 in boston. a very mild night, mild air to the south and west. we will be staying in the 50s in many towns throughout the night. you might feel a sprinkle. most of it is not reaching the ground. this area by the ohio river will be moving north and east. a couple of showers out the door in the morning.

we will see more areas of rain, breezy out of the southwest. temperatures well into the 50s. in the evening, rain will come to an end. we will see gusty southwest winds and still very mild. in terms of temperatures, 58, 59 in new bedford. an average day. it's upper 30s. watch. we have the one arriving tomorrow, mostly during the afternoon. that's the first round. it's moving really quickly. it's gone in the evening. fog feels and afterwards. very foggy. on wednesday, a low cloud ceiling, very damp outside. wednesday afternoon and evening, heavy rain moves in. rainfall moves north and east it's gone by thursday. thursday is where we turn up the heat. forecast.
