5:00, i'm chris mckinnon. and i'm kathryn hauser, again christmas eve, lots to do. we are also breaking records, continue yell, you go out side you are like this is weird. 5:00 a.m. we've already broken a record in providence, rhode island. it's coming in, boston right now we have not broken a record, the record is 61 degrees, i do think we'll break it this morning. 50 in the city right now, 100%. providence, 69 now. the record hit 65 just last half-hour, 63 in tauton, 64 in falmouth, and we are in the 40s north and west of town. there is a warm front that is going to be lifting northward during the course of the morning and early afternoon, ha air. just a couple leftover showers, more like sprinkles, no

sprinkles from sudbury, a couple pockets of drizzle, they end and temperatures rise into the 60s, tops out near 70s, and we'll probably touch that in a couple communities. record warm and gusty winds, you are going to notice that, gusting up to 30 miles per hour, mild through the evening. temperatures still in the 60s with the sunset at 45:05:02, if you are heading out to work, you are seeing a great drive so far, be careful of work crews who are finishing up out there. other than that all major routes are speed limit, you can see groan on your screen which always a good sign. there you go, not too many cars out there, things moving well 0 so far. developing news this morning, dozens of tornadoes touching done in the south, severe storms blamed for at least six deaths, homes are destroyed.

but the good news is that threat is dwindling, liam martin takes a closer look at the damage. >> i can see the breeze. >> a large tornado plowed through northern mississippi wednesday afternoon near the town of clarks day, the tornado was apparently on the ground for 10 minutes damaging homes and blowing a tractor trailer off the road, the storm moved near by cuomo wrecking houses and outbuildings, driver could barely make their way along highway 412. the storm pelted the area with hail, witnesses in highland, arkansas say storms rolled in without warning. >> it snapped off a pine tree by my truck and i just slammed my seat belt on and said lord, let me survive this. >> in arkansas, and 18-year-old woman died after a tree fell on her house. >> i went to my daughter's room, i told her to get up because we might have to go somewhere, we are thinking it

while i do think it will be mostly cloudy, the day should be mostly dry, there may be an isolated showers by saturday evening, steady rain holds off until saturday evening and night. that is another surge of warm air, with it will come some snow in northern new england, we get plain rain late saturday evening and night, sunday morning rain and punch into the warm air again and records be possible again. look at this, forecasting a high of 70 and boston, same in rockport, temperatures in the lower 70s, north and west of town, 60s back down to the cape, we've broken records in providence, rhode island, bridgeport, connecticut, highs tomorrow christmas day blend of sun and clouds around 60 degrees, if we can punch into the warm on sunday we could come up around 60, sunday 61 degrees, we may tie that.

week, you know it's 50 degrees in boston right now. we are typically in the upper 30s for highs in the afternoon for this time of the year. so pretty impressive west wind 7 miles per hour right now, look at the temperatures to our south, there is a warm front that is just south of boston, the wind is from the southwest in these spots where we have already tied and broken a record in providence, we hit 65 at 4:25 this morning, remarkable. warm front will be lifting northward over the course of the morning and afternoon, there is fog with it and low clouds, too, any leftover showers you notice will tend to taper off, it's a sprinkle or two, along the south coast there may be a couple showers around through the early afternoon and i do think we get breaks of sunshine, not going to be everywhere, notice 1:30 a few breaks coming out, we go 65- 70 in many spots. clouds may be stubborn along
