now at 5:30, the snow has stopped, the temperatures are dropping and that means icy roads out there, tonight a live look outside north of the city. earlier today the snow, sleet and slush created a sloppy mess all across the region. and there are issues on the t as well, a metal ceiling grates came loose, crews are performing emergency repairs, shuttle busses are taking passengers between the maverick and bode in stations. many surfaces out there extremely icy, jim armstrong is live in mobile 4, is he driving burlington, hi, jim. >> hey, it's been a slow ride which is exactly probably how you want it to be right now,

dropped considerably meaning the slick roads turned to icy roads in a hurry, just in the past half-hour, we saw big accident on 95 northbound just before exit pa 35, we are in the backup for a different accident just before 32 a, in both cases, it seems like multiple cars involved, at least four, five maybe six cars involved involved, the roads are slick, in some cases it's water, patches of black ice, even cars trying to maintain a regular speed for the highway, tonight's case that might be 40- 45 miles and hour, or a little bit of trouble and that is causing chain reaction accidents over and over again, not just on 95 north and south here in burlington, so best advice remains to keep it as slow as possible. we are live in mobile 4 jim armstrong wbz news. looking at those pictures

the wbz news at is is 1:00. it's been a rough holiday season for the family of an everett police officer, 44-year- old glenn briley died in his cruiser during an overnight shift, paul burton sat down with his widow. >> he was a great man. he loved his job. >> jeanean bruley fights back tears, her husband had 94-year- old police officer glenn briley died doing the job he loved. >> he liked dealing with the public. briley just finished his overnight shift when he died suddenly of a heart attack inside his police cruiser, he was found in the back parking lot of the everett police station. >> it was awful. awful. it was like a ton of bricks thrown at you. it was -- that was the worse day of my life. >> he group up in everett, and a father of two children ages 14 and 16.

armstrong who is live in mobile 4, jim. >> reporter: hey, lauren, good evening, we are right now on route 2 near the lexington stretch, picking up speed a little bit here, maybe about 50 miles and hour, 48 miles and hour. temperatures have dropped considerably since the sunset the 0 minutes or so. roads have gotten icy, black ice is a major problem, just saw that accident there were two in burlington, just a couple miles from each other, there was a pretty big one here route 2 and 128, just as the sun was starting to set. people are generally being pretty safe on the roads taking it slower than they otherwise would which is great news, however these conditions are far from ideal, so the slower you can take it if you are heading out the better and the safer for everyone, live in mobile 4 jim armstrong wbz news.
