does it feel like we are in winter! >> it's chilly! downright chilly, danielle. >> watch your step, we know it's something like this this morning. i made the mistake, you know when you do the little shake and then you don't fall down but you tweak the back, you just got to watch it this morning, temperatures in the 20s right now, above freezing in the cape and islands, that's the one exception this morning, but 31 plymouth, mid 20s in the south itself, a lot of clouds but even though there's just a little bit of moisture, the radar not picking up on it, low level moisture commute, few sprinkles or flurries right at the coastline as well, where do we go from here, between now and mid to late morning, there may be a couple additional pockets of mist or drizzle at the coast, notice by 11:00 a.m., many much us are above freezing, expect west and north of boston it will take us from midday, early afternoon to rise above freezing, so just be mind of of the fact that even as of about 11:00 a.m. noon time there may be still a couple icy spots north and west of town, your planner goes this way, patchy

morning, 35 by lunch time, staying cloudy and a little bit gloomy today, and overcast skies, 37 as we head in the ride home, there will be additional icy spots, not for everybody tonight though, we'll talk more about that and take you through new year's eve coming up, on the roads traffic and weather together, kathryn. >> all right, danielle, thank you. 6:02, volume builds, drivers seem to be taking it slow out there, as danielle mentioned, slick and slippery depending where you are, the expressway hangs up between the logan express and the split and then hitting the brakes past the gas tank and this is a live look at 93 south from our camera off the top of the building, you are slow between exits 46 and dasham road and 428 and the pond. a late night crash in marble head, a car rolled over and ended up on its side on humphrey street near the high school, we're hearing about only minor injuries but power knocked out to the area for a time, no word on if the crash was

also new this morning, a driver loses control and ends up in a pond in hamilton, we're hearing no one was hurt but icy conditions may be to blame. well, the weather definitely to blame for a lot of accidents across our area, first case of winter made a mess on the roads, and all the snow sp rain that we -- and rain that we got yesterday froze overnight. >> that means problems on the commute, more on what drivers can express to see, susie steimle. >> reporter: good morning, chris and kathryn they can expect to see maybe a little bit of black ice after that rain froze overnight that first wave of winter weather comes in every year, a lot of drivers going to have to relearn how the car works in the snow and yesterday we saw it all, snow, sleet, rain, and then it did freeze overnight which could mean for another difficult commute this morning. the first round of winter weather is acting as a test run for all types of driving conditions.

meanwhile another plow sharing a terrifying story. >> he says a man pointed a gun at him, bree is here with the story, hi, bree. >> kathryn, chris, the man accused in this case is the ceo of an employees benefits firm, the plow driver says he lost his cool, blocked in the plow with this man's range rover and then attacked. >> i was just sitting here and i heard all the yelling. >> reporter: these are pictures bob took of two men in a fight outside his home in andover. >> he sought me out. >> reporter: one of those men, paul connelly says the other guy, now identified as michael mccollum cut him off on route 128 and then searched for him in a luxury suv. >> and he proceeded to throw me on the ground, i stood up, regained my balance, whatever, we were holding each other. >> reporter: then the plow driver says he saw the barrel of a gun.

under his jacket, put it right in misface. >> reporter: tuesday afternoon the 51-year-old mccollum faced a judge on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. court paperwork claims mccollum told police he stopped connelly only to warn him he was driving dangerously and that connelly threw the first punch, the dolts -- documents do say mccollum lied to list about his weapon saying it was a bb gun, not the nine millimeter he's allowed to carry, the plow driver still rattled. >> scaring the crap out of you. >> reporter: he's also charged with assault and battery as well as operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. mccollum is still locked up though until at least tomorrow when he faces a dangerousness hearing, his attorney says the gun was unloaded and i only -- and he only pulled out the weapon in an effort to defend himself. new this morning, we're

very close call between a drone and a plane at logan airport on christmas day, the faa says the crew of an air canada jet reported seeing a drone flier -- flying at 800 feet as the aircraft was coming in at a landing. there were two miles away from the runway, the flight landed safely, federal law prohibits drones from flying within five miles of an airport, the faa and state police investigating. closure for an avon family looking for their missing son, james robertson disappeared almost exactly two years ago, his family tells wbz state police found his body over the weekend, in a wooded area in upton, last month police asked hunters to hook for traces in the blue hills reservation but didn't find anything, four men charged with his disappearance, thinking those men pretended to be police officer and then kidnapped him on new year's day in 2014. trying to find someone who lost a lot of money on the south

kathryn and chris, we're along i-93 in dorchester you can see traffic here moving along just fine, as danielle mentioned earlier, the major roadways have been treated it's those side roads that you're really going to want to be careful on and it's been a tough 24 hours on commuters out on the road, we saw black ice overnight and sfloe yesterday morning -- snow yesterday morning, drivers just getting used to the start of the winter season and that made for a busy night for state police as well, clearing off multiple accidents on i-93, and i-95 because of the dangerous road conditions, some of the commuters that we caught up with last night called this a crash course in winter driving as they saw so many different types of precipitation yesterday, always keeping in mind that patience is key. >> my roommate called me and said it was super icy i was expecting cooler, slicker once i get off the main pass >> reporter: the worst is ahead

of child pornography, he played noah puckerman on "glee" from 2009 until his show was cancelled earlier this year. in other news this morning, busted by a pizza delivery in mexico, the so is-called affluenza teen ethan couch and his mother are expected in the u.s. today. >> the fugitive duo had been hiding out in puerto vallarta, bree is in this morning with new details on how it all went down. >> reporter: guys, couch is the texas teenager who killed four people in a drunk driving crash and then he shocked the world with an affluenza defense, meaning he was raised with so much wealth he didn't understand responsibility. now we're getting a look at the dirt cheap apartment where couch and his mother hid from his probation officer. first the two reportedly stayed in this beach resort in puerto vallarta, some 1,200 miles from north texas. they fled several weeks ago after this video surfaced, appearing to show couch at a

have violated his sentence of $10 year -- 10 years juvenile probation. >> we learned through interviews they had planned to disappear, that they even had something that was almost akin to a going away party. >> reporter: 18-year-old ethan couch looks very different than he did two years ago when he was first charged in the deadly drunk driving accident. mexican authorities caught him at an inexpensive apartment costing about $340 a month. american tourists following the manhunt began showing up at the apartment. >> i would assume that with the [ lost audio ] type of atmosphere instead of something like this. >> reporter: mexican authorities confirm a pizza delivery to the condo led investigators to ethan couch and his mother tonia on monday. the pair didn't put up a fight as the authorities took them in to custody.
