amanda turner russell a fellow labor and delivery nurse at beth israel. >> running for boston was a dream and on her bucket list and something she wanted to do. do it for her. >> i will do it for her. >> reporter: amanda was training before christmas on this road. a scar swerved and hit her and plowing no a utility pole she passed away this week. >> it was actually at her bedside in the hospital and her mom asked if i would take her bib for her and run for her. >> reporter: amanda and nancy run together before but nancy was not planning to run bostonp she looked at amanda's fund raising page that morning. >> she had 485 dollars on there. >> reporter: in matter of days the number swelled to more than 16,000 dollars. much of it from people whose lives amanda touched. >> amanda had a zest tore life that was unmatchable. >> reporter: in labor and delivery amanda what special

blowing a pretty good speed. we have to deal with the snow coming through the evening and it's not going to amount to that much but could come down harder in some locations. let's close in a little bit and see where some of the snow showers are existing. and right near gardner to the west of gardner we have the heaviest snow falling extends westward almost out to irving and southward lighter in hubbardston and eastwood and light snow showers parts of the boston area looks like maybe mixed with rain drops in some locations. so most place also see snow falling this evening and the next couple hours but shouldn't amount to too much. couple spots may have a coating of snow. over the weekend it's 38 with most sunshine tomorrow and then we get quite a few clouds but breaks of sunshine and periods of sunshine on sunday when it goes up to 42 dough degrees. we will be watching the cold which comes in the first part of the week and next weekend when we could have some storm approaching us at the that point. i will be back with the forecast for this weekend and more details.

and southern portion of worcester county and northern rhode island seeing a few snow showers. that's going to clear out completely and watch temperatures go down around i say around 30 to 31 in boston by daybreak and upper 20s to the north and west. sunshine for you saturday. and a few clouds may pop here and there. most western and northern new england where a few more snow showers will exist and sunday morning varying amounts of clouds and maybe sunny for a while as we get a southwest flow ahead of the next cold front which will be approaching. so the temperatures should go higher on sunday into the lower 40s. and as far as mountains they have been getting snow looks like nice skiing conditions up there right now. and they need some deeper snow and they will be making snow over there most of the mountains of northern and western new england and nearby resorts as well as it turns cold enough for that to happen. over the next few days a few more inches will fall especially across the northern resorts. so, over the weekend here's the slopes forecast 29 degrees tomorrow with a few snow showers and scattered spots.

of snow squalls and snow showers in many northern mountains. as the weather pattern changes, and it shifts and brings colder's from canada and we will be feeling that, the beginning of next week, our first shot of really cold air. as that comes in we may have a shot of snow showers along the coast especially the north and south shores especially plymouth and cape cod where there could be a small accumulation in few spots monday when it's only 26 for a high on monday. 24 on tuesday. as far as the weekend seasonal over the weaning and gets cold the beginning of next week. >> look at this. this is fitchburg. >> they are getting snow showers which we saw moving from gardner to fitchburg and lemster and heavy in few spots but won't last that long. >> looks pret they right now. >> appreciate that. it's not a new years baby but a baby we love to see. this polar bear cub was born in november at the columbus zoo in ohio. her mother abandoned her and the zoo staff took over.

coming down at a pretty good clip. looking at the latest radar we will zoom into northern worcester couldn'ty where heavier snow showers moved out of gardner and past minister and -- past westminster. there's nothing more than a coating in a few location. not much on the north show -- north shore and a little to the south. a few snowflakes and flurries and a few snow showers maybe an isolated snow squall but 38 tomorrow and 42 on sunday. so not bad. this weekend we are watching the first true arctic blast of the season arriving sunday night. that may produce ocean effect snow showers along the coast on monday. and looks like overall a quiet week until maybe next weekend when there could be something happening. more on the the weather coming up in a few minutes. i decided to go into the ice break the ice and go out to him.
