. from the channel 4 studios in boston. this is wbz this morning. good saturday morning everyone, january 2nd, it is the new year, happy new year, we've taken the turn into these cold months we are here. >> it is here finally we had our first snowfall of the season on tuesday, it's okay. we got through it, it was a little slick and this morning we have a few slick spots because we did see a few snow squalls yesterday evening.

sky at this particular time in boston. 32 degrees. 30 degrees tauten, freezing temperatures or below in all locations therefore it is frosty in some spots 23 degrees in boston. real feel temperatures, worcester, 15 degrees feels like 25 degrees. satellite and radar picture shows mainly clouds over the boston area trying to develop a few flurries up higher in the sky. nothing falling at the ground level. we have a few lake effect snow showers in up state new york some of these snow showers may wake their way into the brookshires. this afternoon hour by hour forecast, temperatures right around freezing once again. can't rule out the possibility of a flurry or two. ocean affect snow showers and blasts of arctic air on the way

airport. power, fyi, looks like we feet. a pilot says a drone flew in the path of his jet. it is the latest in the series of midair scares that have the faa cracking down. as katie reports federal officials fear the problem is only going to get worse. >> a jetblue crew landing a plane at logan had a distraction, a drone. >> looks like we have a drone off to our right about 700 feet spotted a few seconds ago. the plane land 9ed safely. they must stay 5-miles away from airports and only allowed up to 400 feet.

express on the same logan run way reported a drone within the no fly zone. at 800 feet that flight landed without a problem. >> i've heard bad stuff about that, like interference. with increasing in popularity the faa requires owners register their drones. >> accidents, mishaps, controlling air spaces. many passengers are still wrapping their own heads around the technology. i think it is a really cool technology. >> locally, not really concerned. yeah i've seen a few things on the news. the faa received 100 reports each month around the country about drones flying near planes. on the first of the year the numbers are already adding up. >> the faa was notified about the drone siting and state police are now investigating. at logan airport. wbz this morning. the developing story from

a car, in front of ck pearl restaurant and being treated at beverly hospital. police are now investigating the crash. robbed and threatened with a needle a man walked into a convenience store and pulled an unconventional weapon on the clerk. the robbery helped them break over several cases. on christmas eve, the suspect walks in the door and right up to the clerk that item he is pulling out a hypodermic needle. he jabs it at the clerk and raids the register. >> four times in a row, so he is completely scared. he didn't want his face shone works at the convenience store and says this clerk quit. in the fourth time he came with a needle. >> this robbery led to a break this man and this woman led

they've arrested angel on armed robbery and bridget on drug dealing as well as two of their friends on outstanding warrants. as for the store itself, the owner has decided to close all together at the end of january, they've lost $2,000 in the four robberies and say the area is simply too dangerous. >> that was martin reporting, they finally caught those suspects they were carrying crowbars and hypodermic needle with them and may have been preparing to strike again. people including two young children are being treated for serious injuries from an atv collision. one of the people lost his leg on thursday night. investigators have not released the names of anyone involved. investigators suspect a wood stove sparked a house fire in spencer, crews had an especially difficult time

thursday because of low water pressure on scene. no one was home when the fire started. a massive man hunt is underway for the person who open fire on a popular bar in israel. you can see customers at the tel aviv location diving for cover, two people killed and three others hurt. media reports the shooter was an arab and the father recognized him from surveillance footage. police have not confirmed nor denied the details. the worse of the dangerous flooding is over in the st. louis area and flood waters are just starting to recede. now people who live there are faced with a massive clean up on friday, two more levies on the mississippi river game way making at least 11 that have failed total. the flooding was caused by 1 inches of rain over the last 3 days over last week, and it is blamed for 22 deaths.

the 12th largest in power ball history. well it's becoming an unwelcome tradition, vandels striking a cemetery around the holidays as wbz reports, these crimes are taking a tole on families. this is now the fifth time this cemetery was hit in five years, but this by far is the worst damage most of it can't be repaired. >> it is heartbreaking. i pulled in here expecting to see a couple stones overseeing the carnage everywhere. 33 tombstones were toppled. some dating back to 1751. >> my great, great grandmother's stone was one of them. she oversees this cemetery, simply had enough. >> unfortunately it is one step forward, two steps back like we just start to get going and more damage and more damage. the pleasant hill cemetery has been targeted time and time after time. >> memorial day veterans day
