>> and it's wintertime. >> the coldest air of the season. warmest temperatures over the next several days right now okay the temperatures 31 in boston but you think not too bad but the problem is we are not going up today we will be falling through the course of the morning and afternoon. winds from the northwest and that wind will increase here as we drag in the colder air. so it's 31 in boston but mid to upper 20s for a lot of the suburbs and look to the north though, burlington vermont is at 7 degrees right now. so there's much colder air draining southward during the day today. and that's why our temperatures will continue to drop. there may be a couple stray snowflakes or flurries this morning too as the front comes in. otherwise varying amounts of sun and clouds and temperatures in the 20s as we head through the day today. sunrise at 7:14 and snow showers ocean effect will start to whip up too on the cape and islands here as the wind comes in from the north. and those ocean effect snow showers will continue as we head into the ride home but for

the man from connecticut facing charges i've salt with a dangerous weapon and illegal poe savings stun gun because of what police found inside the car. less than a mile from gillette stadium. just before the start of the winter classic hockey game on friday, police had to divert their attention to an employee parking lot at gillette stadium. police say matthew bronson a connecticut man was reportedly acting suspiciously and making threatening comments to people in the parking lot. when they searched his car they found a meat cleaver samurai sword and stun gun. bronson was parked in the employee lot, he doesn't work atgillette the day before he was kicked out the best value inn on route 1 and police held him overnight. and this is not the first time he has had an issue with police. in 2014 he was involved in an who you're long stand off at his home in connecticut where he barricaded himself inside

video released to the media by boston police shows the man identified as andrew bowman from everett continuously throwing punches. ate tack lasted 45 -- the attack lasted 45 seconds. he approached the cruiser and said you heard about the war right and began to pun. officer in the face e returned punches before radioing for help. bowman wan away but was event yewly-- eventually arrested. >> the cop responded well to everything that has been happening. >> i feel like there's been a lot of sort of something going on between police and citizens inen with general. >> reporter: and he is he is expected to be arraigned later this morning. >> lawrence man will also be in court today accused of dragging a state trooper during a traffic stop.

police say the driver took off on i-93 south yesterday morning. while the trooper had his arm in the car, the trooper was not hurt. right now the search is on for the gunman who shot a teenage in everett. the victim was found under the tileson viet overpass yesterday morning -- street overpass yesterday morning. he was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. this morning methuen police are look for a suspect waned in a string of car break-s in. 14 cars were broken into saturday night. police are worried another round could happen again. thieves grabbed spare change and ipods. many victims didn't lock their car doors. >> i got 14 or 15 calls reported for people noticed when they went out to the motor vehicle the car was broken into or the window was smashed and items were stolen and they noticed items strewn about and items missing. >> police are stepping up patrols and asking residents to make sure you look your it can- - lock your car doors and keep

neweningland a couple flurries into eastern massachusetts. can't rule that out. but no impact there. this morning. but it's late this morning that bands. so what's going on here is we have a wind that will come in from the north and that cold air blowing over the relatively warmer water a going to pick up the moisture and deposit it here from the south shore back down to the cape and even a u few bands possible right in eastern massachusetts may clip eastern essex county as well. notice through the evening the bands will be persistent and they are very localized though but will reduce your visibility and accumulate anything tomorrow morning should end by mid-morning for most of us on the cape. expect snowfall totals may be abrief coating from essex to the south shore. we will watch the placement of the band but looks like a one to three inch snowfall amount for the cape and then stretching back down to nantucket as well. that's why we have a winter he weathered-- winter weather advisory in place that kicks in at 11 this morning. the real feel that's what you

want to know and through the afternoon winds will kick up as well. it's going to feel like the teens right on through the evening and look at this. overnight tonight above and below zero single digit wind chill values. this is the heart of the cold air and tomorrow morning will be the coldest with wind chills subzero in some communities. by the afternoon, it will feel like the teens with temperatures not getting out of the 20s for tuesday. so high pressure will be building in. that means any snow showers ocean effect that ends tomorrow morning on the cape then the sun breaks out and it looks mostly sunny for tomorrow and wednesday and even into thursday too and as we get a southwest wind we will warm back up into the 40s on wednesday and thursday. so it's really two days today and tomorrow, that we get the coldest air to come in. afternoon temperatures, will only be in the mid-20s and overnight tonight look at this. 11 degrees in the city of boston of the we will be in the single digits north and west of

getting help with the innovative program for opioid addicts. they are launching a pilot program offering long-term treatment options. addicts will have a comprehensive treatment plan in place as soon as they complete detox. since june, gloucester police have been getting addicts into treatment rather than arresting them. they say they have helped more than 300 people get help. in other news the cost of health insurance in the bay state is going up. the globe reports the state's largest i surer blue cross blue shield is raising premiums on average 5% tufts by 3 and harvard by 6% and fallon by 17% andest say drug prices are rising and so is the cost to insure everyone under ate fordable care act. there are new proposals to ensure the safety of bicyclists. transportation committee will hold a hearing on wednesday requiring side guards on trucks. more than half of bicyclists

fire up by mid to late morning. so notice the bands that set up here. right ocean effect with the cold air blowing over the relatively warmer water picks up some of the moisture and deposits it as snow showers from the south shore back down to the cape and couple bands may clip eastern essex county and couple flurries in eastern massachusetts and the band continue through the evening. at times overnight tonight and into early tomorrow morning before tapering off by late morning tomorrow for most us. rest of us skies clear and sunshine and expected snowball total may see a coating here in eastern essex and south shore but the greatest risk is 1 to 3 inches from southern plymouth county back to the cape. there may be a couple of amounts to top out of near 4 inches but that's isolate on cape cod. winter weather advisory because of this comes up at 11 a.m. this morning. and continues until 7 a.m. tomorrow morning. for hazardous travel conditions. reduced visibility in any of
