now at 11:00, a local mother facing charges. police say she went shopping and left her baby in a freezing car. that little girl is just eight months old >> tonight, the baby's father said this was a mistake. we're live in wrentham with more reporter: the police say there was a language barrier when they spoke with thatter and the baby's father said the mother didn't fully commend what she was -- comprehend what she was doing was wrong. on a frigid day in wrentham. >> there's a baby in a car not attended to. reporter: police received this concerning call.

>> i don't know, like six months old, it's tiny. >> we're on our way n a contacted them when she saw a baby girl alone in the back of a car that wasn't running. the outside teens. when police also there. using mall from the baby for about ten minutes. reporter: she was charged with child endangerment. the baby sent to norwood hospital. >> the basil seemed okay at the -- baby seemed okay at the scene. reporter: we caught waive and give up the baby's father. he called the incident a mistake. >> did she say why she threat baby? >> because it was really cold.

>> i know it was wrong, but she don't know. reporter: police say that's no excuse for reckless behavior. >> an unattended eight month old in a parking lot is a bad idea all around. reporter: now, police say that rhode island department of children and families is now involved in this case, but the baby's father told me the baby is home and fine. . >> thank goodness. on this bitterly cold night, temperatures are falling into the teens and single digits. fortunately, we don't have to put up with this much longer because there is an end in sight. >> a weather rebound. let's get to eric fisher. reporter: a few more hours of cold to go and it's going to feel more comfortable by lunchtime. much less wind outside. when it's cold, that makes all of the difference. 3 in

after the promises about this winter. >> how are you doing, ma'am? >> reporter: the tuesday afternoon commute was smooth, but filled with apologies as train staff spent hours handing out fliers explaining why the morning commute was so awful. >> it's very poorly run. i have to leave my house an extra hour early every day just to prepare for break downs between the commuter rail and the mbta n an empty train caused ripple effects throughout all of the northern lines. no one was hurt, but thousands were late, caught waiting for trains that never arrived. >> i guess last year taught us to have lower expectations until otherwise proven definitely. reporter: we caught up with -- differently. reporter: we caught up with maintenance crews hoping to fix the broken track which by late afternoon state officials announced was due to the cold.

boston, jaffrey at 37 but compared to today, comfortable. the rest of the week, high pressure is in control. beautiful day on thursday. a little warmer. friday brings a change for us. our winds are going to move northeasterly. the rest of the work week is dry so no storms. an average high temperature is 36 this time of year so all of the forecasts above that mark and maybe well above that mark on sunday. there's a couple of weekend things to watch for. just enough cold air where there could be freezing snow flakes across the interior so something to watch for saturday. very light, maybe causing a few travel issues. the next storm system is a bigger storm but it's trekking to our north. that is a warm storm trek so at this point, this looks like a warm storm. warm enough where some areas could get in

john henry, these are not happier times. the timing of this could not be much worse. watching wally flop on the field is about as bad as watching the sox. mr. henry, please fix that before peddling a new mascot. and let's see you get rid of over paid hanley ramirez. speaking of over paying, red sox ticket and concession prices have been the highest in the majors for a while now. i know they think mascot antics add to the fun at fenway, but i bet most families are currently priced out of the fun all together. and how about the irony of what the parents are doing here? a lot of real people rely on the globe as a key part of their day and their community.
